Purchasing and scheduling the service was straightforward. The tech arrived on time, performed the inspection, and explained what he'd found. We were promised a report that we could present to the seller within a couple of days, and this is where the problems started. I had to make several phone calls to chase down the inspection report. Finally, I got a call back from Travis Howard, who apologized for the delays and produced the report himself within a few hours.

One of two AC units stopped working on Sunday. Bought a "diagnosis" deal from Howard Air that afternoon and then called Monday to see when they'd come out. Told we were cued but they servicing homes with no working AC units first. I actually liked that policy. Guy showed up on Tuesday, David, who had worked at our home before. When I saw him I recalled, "That's the guy I wanted to remember to request." My worry when living room went to 88 degrees was that I'd get that "You need a new unit." Or, "You need a new unit and your system is old, so buy an entirely new system." But when I saw David I knew he'd perform legit service and see if he could fix it. So... 10 minutes in tells me I need a new capacitor. Shows me what's wrong. Says it may be more of an issue but let him fix the capacitor first. He fixes it. Unit perks up, house cools. Charges me for the part ($213). Week later, house feels great. At some point, perhaps even next spring, we are going to need a new system. It's 13 years old, plus or minus. But, not surprisingly, we want to get as many years as possible -- and within sane expenditures -- of our present system. I trust Howard's Air to show up and do the job right without any of the self-serving BS. It seems they realize that at some point I will ante up for a new system and their earning my trust will ultimately pay off. I'd recommend using this guys without reservation.

I will definitely be switching ac companies. I contacted the company for repairs. They were the company that installed my unit 2 years ago. I am upset that the unit didn't last 2 years and then when I called to get it fixed the secretary Nicole was rude to me as I sit in 90 degree house and it has taken more than 24 hours for them to come look at the unit. Definitely not great service after spending more than $6000 on a unit from them. I am not a happy customer.

They were on time and great at communicating what was found. Once the system was assessed, the tech outlined the issues with each AC unit (I had 2) and detailed out the options to deal with the problem - either a la carte or with a maintenance plan. We agreed on the plan as the best option and the service was completed. When I was having a problem with one of the thermostat's the next day, they sent the same tech out to my house within a hour and checked out the problem. I'm happy to continue using there service regularly.

As usual, Howard Air was punctual and professional. There was a scheduling error on their part and I wasn't able to contact them over the weekend to correct it, so the tech arrived too early. I trust this business and will use them again.

Everyone from person answering call to comfort consultant to installers were very courteous, knowledgeable, accomodating and dedicated to providing quality products.

Our unit has been leaking refrigerant for a few years, so we've had Howard Air add more each summer to get us through. Our tech Denis was great and explained everything to us, and told us that our compressor was also on it's way out. Unfortunately, six days later we are facing the same no-cool-air problem but it's likely because of the wear we put on the system trying to blow air for weeks before our appointment. We will now be giving in and pricing out a new unit.
Description of Work: Added two pounds of refrigerant to fix no cool air, and diagnosed that the compressor is also pumping at reduced capacity.

The crew arrived on time, was very organized and clean. The install was almost completed by the end of the day with the exception of a factory defect on one of the two units. They stayed until the problem was found (a very bizarre one) and parts ordered. The repair was completed and installation finished the next morning. Cosmetic repairs were promptly taken care of within a few days. I have now qualms about recommending this company - a very good experience from sales personnel, with the installation crew, and even follow up by their accounting department.

I contacted Angie's for an AC service as the recent heat wave has taxed my AC beyond its limits of late. I was contacted by Howard Air within minutes of my request. After explaining my situation, Kim at Howard pointed out that my warrantee should be contacted first and that if they would not cover my issue they would be happy to fix my problems. She further pointed out that I was entitled to a full refund then contacted Angie's List for me to initiate it. What a refreshing breath of fresh air to deal with a company who actually has the customer's best interest at heart. Good people have good Karma and I hope to repay it when able. Howard Air took six full days to repair our home air conditioning system. That was in mid-June 2015, when the daily high temperature was in excess of 105 degrees here in Phoenix! Never before has any company in the A/C business made me wait six days for a repair. I called Howard Air, instead of a competitor, for two reasons: 1. Highly favorable reviews on Angie?s List 2. Howard Air is open seven-days-a-week: this suggested a commitment to fast service even on weekends (WRONG!) Our air conditioner broke down on the morning of Saturday, June 13th. I called Howard Air right away on that morning but a service technician did not arrive at our home until about 7:00 PM. Needless to say I was disappointed when the technician reported that we needed an air handler blower, motor and capacitor; parts that he did not have. He told me that someone would call on Monday morning to schedule the repair after they ordered parts from a supplier. No one called, by 10:00 AM on Monday, so I called Howard Air. As the office person fumbled through her notes and pricing information, it was clear to me that no one had done anything about getting parts ordered or work scheduled. My jaw just about hit the floor when she told me it would take another three to four days just to get the parts needed before repairs could be made! Please keep in mind that we live in a fairly new, 12 year old tract home with a common place ?York? brand 3.5 ton A/C system. Nothing special equipment wise but for some reason, I?m told, it would take 5 to 6 days from the date of failure just to get parts; never mind do the repair. On Wednesday evening , five full days post failure, a technician did arrive at our home to do the repair but discovered he needed a mounting bracket that he did not have. So, we waited another day. On Thursday morning, six days post failure, I called Howard Air for a status report. Howard Air said the mounting bracket was at the distributer; Howard Air simply needed to pick up the part and do the repair. I wrongly assumed that meant someone would be at our house soon. After all, we?d been waiting for six days; surely we must be first in line for service by now; right? WRONG! Finally, a technician did show up at about 7:00 PM (what is it about 7:00 PM?) and soon had our system running again. In response to my complaint about the delay Howard Air basically said it?s not their fault! Howard Air blamed it?s parts supplier for the six day delay in fixing our problem. But what about Thursday MORNING, when they had ALL of the parts, why did it take until after 7:00 that NIGHT to get the repair done? We had to live with 110 degree heat for another day without A/C: why? I think the problem is Howard Air; not so much the parts supplier. After all, Howard Air selects it?s suppliers. Howard Air seems highly tolerant of a deeply flawed system. Howard Air gets paid, I assume the parts supplier get?s paid, so who cares if a customer is stuck in a house without A/C for six days? Obviously, NOT Howard Air! Please understand that everyone we spoke to from Howard Air was very polite. They even sounded sympathetic. But Howard Air did not back up their lip service with actual performance! Whatever they might say about how hard it can be to get parts, ask yourself: DOES THAT SOUND RIGHT? I think that Howard Air accepts a flawed system, for parts distribution and suffers from internal control issues. My opinion: Howard Air is equally guilty of wrong doing. Even on the morning when they had the parts it took another full day to get the repair done. Next time I?ll use someone else!

This provider is excellent. I've used them multiple times and they always: Do what they say they will do!!! They call when they say they will, they come when they say they will. The office staff (Kimber et.al.) are knowledgeable, personable and efficient. I've used them before, and I will use them again....in a word, they are DEPENDABLE
Description of Work: Purchased a summer checkup through Angie's list....they called before arrival, they diagnosed a noisy fan motor and ordered the parts. Returned with the parts on agreed upon date/time. replaced parts and all I paid was labor as my unit was under warranty.

Steve was very pleasant to work with and went over my options with me and gave me a quote. He was very responsive to my questions via email and text as well and helped me to get a great deal on financing my purchase. The technicians were very pleasant to work with and answered all my questions during the installation. They needed to fabricate new ducts on the roof to connect one of the units, which couldn't be placed in the ideal location due to a vent pipe. When they removed the old units they also took down an old swamp cooler that was out of operation but still sitting on the roof. In order to install the new thermostats for the two stage systems, they had to upgrade the wiring and because of that cut into the wall and ceiling. A few days later, a contractor came out to repair the drywall, who did an excellent job as well. I love my new systems and for the first time, I'm comfortable in my house. Thank you Howard Air!

Patrick was professional and took the time to examine our AC setup and to explain the plusses and minuses of our system. The diagnoses was through a $78 Angie's List promotion. The remaining cost was for the refrigerant our AC unit needed. My only criticism is I was told Howard Air would contact me about the cost of some suggested maintenance, but I have not heard from them.

The unit had stopped working entirely (due to being frozen, it turns out). Dennis recommended that the unit was old and needed replacing, but could probably work for another season before losing its coolant again. It took two trips to solve the problem. Dennis was punctual and professional in each visit.

All systems were working okay, but coolant was low. It took 2 1/2 lbs of coolant, and is now working correctly. He also checked with a meter, the air flow and air temperature to make sure what was coming out of the A/C was up to the unit standards. Also recommended coming back in 2 weeks to make sure there isn't a leak in the coolant line, which is difficult to tell as the unit is sealed. I agreed, and will make sure I ask for Bryan again, as he did a terrific job. I would definitely recommend Howard Air.

Setting up an appointment was very easy. Howard Air was responsive and were able to fit into my schedule with ease. On the day of the appointment, I got a call letting me know when the provider would arrive, which helped me plan my day. When Bryan arrived he was friendly, punctual, and explained exactly what my inspection would entail. It was an inspection of my AC units, but he also checked my thermostats and changed the filters for me. I had forgotten that I have 2 units so he said he would do the inspection the other unit and charge me the Angie's List price for that as well. The initial inspection/tune-up took about an hour. My two units are 19 year old Tranes, and there were a few worn out parts. He showed me, with photos, the parts that would need replacing and what would happen if I did or did not replace. For example, one part could just "go" during the heat of summer, but another part he said I could get away with fixing later. As a woman with very little knowledge about electronics, I always am skeptical of "this needs repairing" spiels. But, in the case of Bryan, I really felt he was not out to make a buck off of me, and he seemed genuine and interested in making sure I understood what he was explaining to me. Howard Air also offers several programs to pay for it- I opted for a 1 year multi-visit program that includes some parts (including parts I was getting that day) included, and it also includes a winter visit (where they check my furnace) and a visit next spring. It is a program designed for old, rickety units like mine. Paying tuition for two children right now makes me want my AC to last a couple of more years. After I selected the replacements/repairs I wished to have completed, he did them right then. It took another hour or so, but when he left there was nothing lying around, no garbage, it was tidy. Overall, I had a very positive experience with Howard Air. Bryan was very pleasant, and knowledgable. He gave me his card and said I could request him specifically, or have anyone do the follow up care. I felt they provided quality service and I feel more secure knowing I have someone to call if the units decide to go on the fritz. I would recommend Howard Air without hesitation.

Recently relocated to the East Valley from out of state. One of the things that our home inspector recommended was that we have our AC checked more thoroughly. We carried out some online research and contacted Howard Air to set up an appointment. Tina took my call and kindly set up an appointment for the same day which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Bryan, the tech that was assigned to us was friendly and professional. He did an outstanding job performing the standard service call. He took multiple photos of our A/C/Heat Pump unit which is located up on the roof of our home. He then showed me thephotos of several components of our A/C system and fully explained their function and why they needed to be replaced in order for our system to run more efficiently. The price quoted was very competitive as well. We gave Bryan the green light to proceed and he replaced the components, added additional Freon and even kindly washed our permanent filter (he explained how important it is to keep this filter clean and to do this each month to ensure unrestricted airflow) and even installed a ptrap in our condensation pipe without charge. Bryanwas asked about several photos of our A/C unit that were taken by our inspector and there were several items that he said did not need to be worked on at this time as they were actually in good condition. I appreciate Bryan's integrity and this reflects well not only on him, but on Howard Air too. Bryan also immediately emailed us our invoicewhen we paid with our credit card.We appreciate that paperless option for our records. Bryan, thanks for doing such a great job for us and we look forward to having you come out again for our next service this coming fall for the heat pump. Great job Howard Air!

I made the reservation and scheduled a 5/2 visit at 9AM. I was waiting at the home and finally had to call someone to find out what had happened because nobody showed up. Somehow my appointment had been confused with another person. So, I wasted time waiting for an appointment that was never properly recorded. They rescheduled for 5/5 at 7AM. The 5/5 visit was fine. The technician arrived on time and finished the work he needed to along with an inspection and recommendation of what needed to be done. 6/2: I had to have some drywall removed in order to give the Howard technician access to the unit he needed. I was able to call Howard Air and have them speak with the person removing the drywall, directly. That was nice becauseI was afraid I would screw it up. 6/3: Today they came and completed the full service of items I purchased during the 5/5 visit. It was a great visit. The expected time frame was between 8AM- 12PM. The technician called me at 8:30AM to let me know he was on his way. He showed up exactly at the time he stated. He walked through the repairs he was doing. Also, he happened to park in front of the lawn during the day the trash people were coming and he made sure to watch for them. He moved his truck when they arrived so I didn't miss my trash collection. He also locked the house appropriately and sent me my invoice via email. There were no surprises or last minute charges. Despite the rough start, it turned out to be a good experience. I will use them in the future.
