Scheduling is easy and friendly and usually get a prompt appointment, depending on the time of year. We have had them out several times and have been consistently accurate, fast and punctual. Each technician that has worked on our aging systems have been very skilled in their diagnoses and I never felt taken advantage of. I always like to look over their shoulder and ask lots of questions. Prices vary, depending on the parts involved; these things are never cheap but the Technicians are very forthcoming when looking up the price and varying quality. The best part is that they never try to sell me a new system.

After he finished, the problem was solved. He was very professional. We also arranged through Angie's List to have a complete, annual service done inside and out. A second tech did that and said it all looked good. I should mention that checking the unit inside involved opening up a trap and crawling through it to check the drainage. Not a very attractive prospect. Bot both did it without missing a beat. Very fine experience.
Description of Work: We had condensate leaking out of our air conditioner unit. The tech checked several things, did some repairs on the drain line and weep hole.

Three months after having significant maintenance performed, a/c stopped working. Howard's came out to perform diagnostic, found and repaired problem at no charge. Refreshing and professional service. Definitely recommend
Description of Work: Charged w/3 pounds of coolant and lots of maintenance on older unit. When a/c stopped cooling 3 months later, technician arrived within 2 hours on a Friday evening. Patrick did a thorough diagnostic, found and repaired cause, which he fixed in 30 minutes. No charge b/c I had recommended service performed earlier. Great, prompt service!

Tech dave looked at the cooler and found out that my compressor was not working. He fixed a dent I had in the elbow which was dumbing tons of cool air outside. He called scott bird who came out the next day and not only answered all my silly questions but he got up in2 a very hot attic and saw that my ductwork was on the verge of breaking and pumping all my cool air in2 the attic. I strongly recommend howard air. They will and do go far and beyond anyone else.
Description of Work: Tge tech (dave) came out yesterday cuz my cooler wasn't working he looked at it and did everything he could to get it to work but he found out it was the compressor. He also found out that my cooler was over charged and it was backwards at the elbow. He told us that it would be cheaper and better to get a new cooler. He said he could have someone come out and answer any questions I had. Scott bird came out and was super professional and extremely nice he answered every silly question I had. We ended up buying a new cooler. Scott bird even had a tech come out and put a temp fix on my old cooler so I didn't have to sweat in my house on this 118° day. I highly recommend howard air for all your a/c needs.

When I called (Sunday about 11AM) they said they would be out between 3-6pm that day. I called at 5:45 to ask if they were still coming and a tech called me back and said he would be out in 45 minutes. He showed up around 7pm. The technician was VERY professional. He "tested" the system and replaced the capacitor. When he cam into the house I told him there was still warm air coming out and he said it would take time for cool air to start coming out. Around 10PM it was 94 degrees in my home. I called the next morning at approximately 6:45 and was told I would get a call back. The call back never happened. My wife called them and said the issue wasn't fixed. They apologized and said they would send someone out and they wouldn't charge us another service charge. I was a bit offended by that. Of course you won't you never fixed the issue. They are supposed to come out today and actually fix the issue. I will update this review once they actually complete the work. UPDATE: Called the provider back at 6:45AM and was told my call would be returned and I never got a call back. My wife called them around 8 and someone showed up around 9AM. The gentleman found a leak of some sort (never received the receipt with detailed work) and charged us $80. They waived the second trip fee. The receipt from the day before stated that the system tested satisfactorily and clearly it did not. Total for the repairs were $342 a capacitor was replaced (not sure if it was really needed at this point) and a copper tube was repaired. Will update again if the provider responds to this review and see what they do to make up for their mistakes and my 24+ hours of 93+ degrees indoors.

After reviewing your entire file, we are shocked to hear you were not satisfied with the service you received. Your initial call was placed to our company on Sunday August 8, 2015. This was an after-hours, weekend call that was placed just before noon. According to our vehicles GPS, our technician arrived at your home at 6:34pm. Upon his arrival you did indeed incur an “after-hours” charge of $142.50. Our technician ran an emergency diagnostic check on your system and found that your capacitor was indeed faulty and needed replacement. He also determined that your system, which Howard Air did not sell you or install for you, was under warranty. You incurred the additional charge of $119.54 for the parts and labor. Because of our technicians training and honesty, Howard Air saved you the cost of $98.46 by honoring your parts warranty. Please keep in mind that we now must send the part back to the manufacturer, along with quite a bit of paperwork and wait for reimbursement for the new part that we installed. Once the repair was completed our technician photographed the completed job to support the before pictures that were taken. From your home, he uploaded the photos to our system and documented your account, per company policy. He left your property at 7:06pm. On Monday August 10, 2015 we received a call at 8:51am stating that your home was not cooling. Our technician arrived at 10:02am. We did not charge you a diagnostic fee and our technician checked other areas of the system and a leak was found. This part of the system was not previously check because the problem did not require a check the “reversing valve” and the original technician did not ever inspect the area of the valve because the inspection was not warranted. The valve was repaired and the leak was corrected. You incurred a repair cost of $88.00 for these repairs, which is a significant discount off the normal cost $650.00 for the repair of the reversing valve and coolant replacement. This discount was given, not because we were at fault, but because we again honored your parts warranty of a system installed by another company. We will once again await reimbursement on those parts. Finally, to address the fact that you did not receive invoices for the work that was completed. Our invoicing system was down and the invoices have now been sent to you via email. Howard Air stands by the service and work provided by our company and our technicians, as well as the honoring of your parts warranty which allowed for you to pay $342.00 for over $900 worth of repairs. Our technicians provide excellent and professional repair service on an after-hours weekend call. At this time we have made far more concession than warranted and we will be doing nothing else “to make up for” what you claim to be our mistake, when in fact the damage was from a system we did not sell nor install for you. If we can be of assistance in the future or you would like any further documentation, please feel free to call our office.

Our technician was professional, kind, knowledgeable and timely. He went over all the issues with our system and got us ready for summer. The unit is over 20 years old and we suspected it would need replaced soon, instead of encouraging us to purchase a new system immediately he was honest in saying it could last another year or two. A/C Units can be costly so he suggested we begin planning to replace and he shared apx costs. When the time comes we'll definitely use Howard Air to replace.

The inspection went well and contractor was thorough and professional. Then I was provided with an itemized list of required repairs that was quoted at $1400. I went to another licensed contractor and most of the items in the proposed Howard Air quote could have been done at a more economical method with the same outcome. For example, the 2nd contractor told me I could go to Lowes and get self adhering wrap for the outdoor pipes for $10 and do it myself. Howard Air quoted me just over $100 for the same item. I won't use Howard Air again because of this experience.

You are correct when you state that you can complete the same repairs yourself for much less and we are so happy that your D.Y.I skills can cover HVAC repairs, however there is no warranty with D.Y.I projects. Most people cannot complete complicated HVAC jobs themselves and it is highly discouraged industry wide. We are happy that the $98 annual inspection provided you with a great road map and photographs to complete your project! Bought a diagnostic big deal from Howard Air for a roof unit that was not working at our house. They came out when they said they were going to were very punctual. The gentleman who did the diagnosis and figured out it was a transformer. He was able to affect the repair that day. He did this despite the fact there was a small hornet nest on the roof that would occasionally be buzzing by him. After the repair the front office helped by checking with the manufacturer to see if this was still under warranty. They took my information and actually did all the legwork at the office to call them and see if they would cover it since the model was not 10 years old. Disappointingly it was not covered but the cost of the repair and diagnostic fee I thought were fair. They may not be the cheapest but I think that the quality and their service to the customer was clearly superior and I would highly recommend them to others.

We chose Howard because of the reviews and professionalism of their sales and project managers, even though their price was a little higher than the other proposals we had received. The service went smoothly as planned, and we have had no problems through the hottest part of summer. One concern I have on the pricing is that the no interest financing they offered wasn't really free. We paid cash and received a substantial discount.

One of the reasons why I chose Howard Air is because they charged a fee which was not the lowest by any means but one where the company could make a reasonable profit. From previous experience, I avoid any company that charges such a low price that it is obvious that they are losing money on the call. Question then is, how do they make it up to stay in business? Another reason was that during a conversation with a Howard Air representative I had the distinct impression that here was a company that charged a fair price and one that placed great value on quality. I was not disappointed. David Ambrosio, the tech that serviced the A/C units was clearly very knowledgeable. personable and very honest. For example, I inquired about possible additional service and he told me that was simply not necessary. I was very impressed. Furthermore, there was no high pressure, none, to sign up for a service contract, something that I had experienced with another local company with rather, shall we say, unsatisfactory results. I definitely intend to use Howard Air for all my future service needs.

Guy showed up on time. He was very concensious of m home. I have 3 different ways to get in attic so he tried the one that was in the garage first in order to avoid potentially leaving a mess in the 2 entrances inside the home. Eventually he had to use the ones in the home to get to the units, but I thought at least he tried. He took his time, and did everything throughly.

We had Howard Air install a new air conditioner a little over two years ago after a less than stellar experience with another company. We've been 100% happy with the AC, the installation, and the service since then. Our most recent use of their services came after noticing the temperature rising in the house. I called the office (around 6:30pm on a Thursday) and got an immediate answer. I was told they were pretty busy but got an offer to fit me in the next day or Saturday, my choice. I asked about after hours service that night, and was told they'd try. I had a call from a technician within 20 minutes and he arrived within a half hour. He was very polite, and apologized profusely for having forgotten his booties (which they usually wear when inside... the booties have never been necessary in my opinion, all the technicians we've had have been very clean). He quickly diagnosed the problem, a blown capacitor, replaced it, and reset some fuses in the attic unit. We had also had a new landscaping company out a couple of days previous and I mentioned that when he arrived (in case they had damaged or disconnected something around the outside unit). Before he left, he took me outside and explained that while they hadn't caused the problem, they had blown some debris up against the unit. He explained how I could safely clean it myself so it didn't become a problem. A wonderful experience!
Description of Work: Changed a capacitor and reset fuses after hours. Cost was for after hours call, repair was under warranty.

The Howard Air tech called my wife back the afternoon of 5/21 and the only thing reported was that he "could not access the blower in the attic" and wanted to rebuild the frame around the blower so it was easier to access. We have had service performed on the blower in the past (5-6 years ago it was replaced by another A/C company), so there shouldn't have been any issues. We obviously declined this service. Fast forward to 7/12 and our renters called saying the A/C wasn't working, the vents were just blowing hot air. Now that it was July, and it happened on a weekend, A/C places were booked up with service calls and I couldn't get someone out until the morning of 7/14. I got Cooling 4 Less to come out, and they reported that the unit was working fine, but the unit was just completely out of freon and there was no evidence of a leak. So a couple of things here: 1) The Howard Air tech obviously didn't check freon levels. 2) These tune-ups usually come with 1-pound of freon from my experience in the past, and from what I see A/C service providers offering. I'm assuming this wasn't added to the system. I don't remember if this was in the Angie's List deal, but for $98 I would assume it was. So I'm out the $98 from the worthless tune-up call, and 2 nights at a 3-star hotel for my renters.

After reviewing the technician notes and photographs that our service techs take at each and every job, we would like to address your concerns. 1. When our technician addressed your clearance issue he was making a suggestion based upon industry standards. By no means was he trying to tell you that you had to make any drastic changes that you were not prepared for. Industry standard for access to an AC/furnace unit is to have clear access to the entire unit for service and maintenance to be performed safely. 2. Our photographs show that your refrigerant was low not empty and no leaks were found. Your unit was approximately 3lbs low and this was on your invoice, but service was denied. 3. Our technician also found a ‘pitted” connector, which was also included on the report and invoice you received. Again, this repair was declined. 4. You received a Standard 44 point cooling service with extensive cleaning to the unit, which our technician did over and above industry standards. We are more than happy to share with you the before and after photographs for the maintenance as well as the problems that were found and repair was denied. We hope that you have had all problems solved, and again we wish you felt your experience had ended differently.

I bought a $69 big deal for this service. It was two years ago. It really did not go anywhere. I had a friend do the maintenance and it has been working fine so it was kind of wasting my time. I paid money to get a pitch to spend a lot of money. It was not sort of any type of benefit experience for me. They came out and I think they were on time.

They're quite a good company. They're not cheap but they're very thorough. I think they're very reputable. The appointment had to be rearranged. We had an appointment the previous week, which would have been about two to two and a half weeks ago. We've had some very hot weather here in Phoenix, which meant that the air conditioning crews were scrambling on emergency calls. They called us that morning or the day prior to see if we would mind terribly if they took care of some of the more emergent appointments needing to be serviced, people who literally didn't have air conditioning. We said, "Sure. That's fine." So, they bumped us back about a week.
