 + -1 moreWe had Howard Air out for inspection/maintenance of our two heat pump units, both inside and outside the house. Shortly after the visit, one of the units failed. The same technician came out and found the problem was that a relay had failed. The relay was part of the mechanism that automatically shuts off the unit if condensation water is detected in the backup collection pan. It was a small part, but expensive.

 + -1 moreExceptional. The compressor failed on one unit and decided it was time to update the units to be more efficient and stop using the old and increasingly expensive coolant. Howard air came out and found a number of installation problems with the original duct work and the placement of up-ducts did not move airwell out of the master bedroom (the room was at least 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house every summer. They gave me a price to replace the systems with Trane units and add a new up-duct. The overall price was a bit higher than other companies, but providing advice to better cool our bedroom and an included "loaner unit" to cool the upstairs until the scheduled date to install the new ones, seemed very fair. That loaner is a full unit that replaced my failed one, not a little one-room job. A couple weeks later the crew arrived on time, put down tarps and put up plastic curtains to keep the mess to a minimum, and set about their work. They were all courteous. The job finished in a day and they cleaned up and left. I am very impressed. My overall opinion is that this is a quality outfit and I will not hesitate to recommend them.

 + -1 moreI used Howard Air a few years ago after purchasing a new HVAC for a 30+ year old condo. Though I placed the order through Lowe's at the time, the installation was done professionally with a 2 man team. I have used them since with an annual maintenance agreement. When it came time for a check-up on our personal home unit, I was surprised that I could find no one that wanted to go up on our tile roof. This was odd since we have lived in the house for 33 years and never had a problem. Howard agreed to do the maintenance check for a little higher price than the others, but arrived on time and completed the inspection as promised. I was just a little disappointed that this did not include a cleaning that was always done in the past. Thankfully everything appeared to be functioning well considering its 15 year age. Honesty and professionalism is what I look for in a company and Howard seems to excel at this.

 + -1 moreInstallation went smoothly. Four men showed up at the agreed time. Finished in about 11 hours. Installers were courteous and any time entered the house, they put on plastic covers on their shoes. After job finished, everything was cleaned up and put back in it's place and left no evidence that a job actually took place. New equipment is working well. Will use Howard Air in the future.

 + -1 moreEveryone involved in the purchase and installation of our new HVAC unit--from the first person who came to the house and determined which unit was best for our house, to the installers, to the people who answer the phones--has been awesome to work with. I can't say enough good things about Howard Air. Very professional. Very pleasant to work with. Most important: this unit has been so much better--more comfortable, and more quiet--than the unit it replaced that we got several years back from one of Howard Air's competitors. We will have Howard Air replace our 2nd HVAC unit when the time comes.
Description of Work: Howard Air replaced my old HVAC unit last summer. They came back one time to adjust the unit because it was too noisy for my liking. They came back during the winter for a free service/maintenance check, and again this summer for the same.

 + -1 moreHoward Air was incredibly professional. They were very knowledgeable and helpful. They gave us help along each step of the process. On the day of the replacement Rob and Brian arrived exactly on time and with all of the tools needed to complete the job. They did an excellent job and were friendly, professional and helpful. Replacing an AC unit is devastating to the wallet but at no point did I ever second guess our decision to go with Howard Air. They are excellent!
Description of Work: Originally, needed work on a broken air-conditioner. Determined it was cheaper to replace than repair. We interviewed 3 companies for a replacement and went back to Howard Air.

 + -1 moreI cannot begin to convey how thrilled we are with Howard Air and will think of them for all of our AC needs.
Description of Work: We have been having some problems with our AC not running properly. We have a home warranty and they sent one of their contractors out. They diagnosed the problem and replace the fan motor. No sooner than the technician left, the AC stopped working. He came back out and said a wire was loose and fixed it. We were soon having the same problem. The next day, they sent another technician out and the AC was working fine, so he said there was nothing wrong with it and left. Of course the air stopped working shortly after. In desperation I called Howard Air. They sent Yubani Barraza out and he diligently diagnosed the problem and come to find out the prior contractor had installed the wrong motor causing the compressor to overheat. We had him install the right one (at our expenses), even though Yubani kept telling us he would have the prior contractor come back and install the right one. At this point I did not trust the prior contractor and had Howard Air install it. Howard Air spent a lot of time making sure they had the right diagnosis and address the issue properly versus quickly addressing the problem in a slipshod manner. I cannot begin to convey how thrilled we are with Howard Air and will think of them for all of our AC needs.

The company was great, I just didn't like the salesman that came. I had another air conditioning job to do. I called him and I didn't like his manner. I would use them again if it was the first salesperson.

They not only replaced the a/c unit, they went above and beyond and replaced everything from the roof down to the air filter register. Scott the designer/sales consultant was awesome to work with also. Can't say enough about all the people that I interfaced with. Both technicians that came, one to diagnose, and another to top off my unit with freon to keep it running until it could be replaced, were awesome!!!!

 + -1 morePerson who answered phone was very helpful and upfront about cost ($88, offset if work is over $250). She also asked good questions to possibly avoid service call. Said she had a technician available but it would be a couple of hours. Technician called about an hour later and was here shortly afterwards. Our A/C had started working again but he checked our system and replaced a faulty capacitor $315. This cost seemed reasonable based on other A/C work we have had done. He also confirmed accurately that our fan motor and compressor were fairly new. Timely response was very much appreciated with temps over 100 degrees.
Description of Work: A/C broke down at 4:30 PM. Needed repair quickly. Our normal service could not make anyone available until the next day...same with another company I called that advertised emergency repair. Found Howard on Angies List.

My AC is now working again. I am very thankful for how quickly they responded, I would just like to get a breakdown now between labor and material for what I paid for.
