Contacted Handyman Connection as I had wanted quick response for various minor home repairs. Appointment provided within three work days of request. Randy called to say he would be late the morning of our appointment, and did arrive two hours later - about 12:15 pm. Upon arrival, I shared with him the items that I would like to have repaired: tightening a loose electrical outlet, replacing a broken plastic nut on a bathroom faucet; caulking a hole where the landscape water timer had been attached; patching a four inch spot of foundation concrete; tightening down two toilet bolts; putting a new weather strip on a back door threshold; insulating around an attic chase; shaving down a door that rubbed on the carpet; and replacing a water drain cap in the yard. After obtaining the list and looking at the areas needing repair, he drafted a supply list and provided me a cost for the repairs, which I paid. (I had also asked about an additional repair which he stated he would be unable to perform.) He was given dollars for the needed supplies and left, stating he would go to the closest hardware store (five minutes from the house). Randy did not return for about three hours. During his absence, I contacted the business, concerned about what may have happened. He returned with a receipt from a hardware store several miles away, stated that he was required to go to that store, and stated that there had been long lines. He completed all tasks within an hour upon return but after removing the door from its hinges stated that he would be unable to shave it due to a metal reinforcement that ran to the bottom of the door. He also said he had forgotten the cap for the yard and would need to go get it. He said he would be right back. He was again gone for nearly two hours. He returned, with a receipt from another store several miles away, determined he could not fix the door and put it back on its hinges, He left around 6:30p.m. Randy was kind and did a good job on the tasks completed, but I did not understand the long absences. I also do not appreciate being charged for a service that he was unable to perform. The cost per hour of labor was horribly excessive.

We are so pleased with the process and the results of the work we received from Preferred Handyman. They were extremely easy to work with to schedule the work. Danny Bond was the individual assigned to our job and we feel very fortunate to have worked with Danny. At every step in the process, it was conscientious and thoughtful to ensure that he was giving us the finished product we imagined. A couple of times, he showed up early or stayed a bit late so that he could confer with us on the work. His work is skilled and meticulous. And he did every step. Along the way there were a couple of unforeseen issues to contend with. Unknowingly, we chose a tile pattern that proved time-consuming to execute. But Danny always progressed without any hint of frustration. In fact, he was the opposite, always upbeat and positive in his attitude. He even worked on a day off to keep the job on schedule. Thank you for a job very well done!

I found them through Angie's List. The thing that I liked most about it, was that they don't bake any of the supplies into their estimate, they quote you the price for labor only, and then you pay that cost at Home Depot. They don't jack up the price of the product.

My water heater went out at my house in the morning. I called handyman connection at approximately 2pm and asked if they could have someone replace the water heater same day. After we decided on my water heater, that were at my house in 2 hours. I didn't have to sweat this one bit. Once I called handyman connection, they offered to sell me a water heater at there cost (no materials markup), or gave me the option to purchase one online at home depot and there craftsmen would pick it up, bring it to my house and install it (all while I was at work). I opted to buy the one at home depot just because it has Wifi and I am a bit of tech n***. I had also asked them to replace all the fittings and hoses as they were eroded pretty bad. They ended picking up my water heater at about 3pm from the Home Depot nearest my house and having it installed (and replaced all fittings/hoses) by 6:30 PM. The best part about all of this is, all I had to do was pay for the water heater, and hand the craftsmen the check to pay for his services afterwards. I didn't have to do anything else, and this is what separates handyman connection from the other fly by the seat of your pants handyman companies. I truly can call them, ask them to perform a service and it gets done without any headache. Thanks again, I will continue to use handyman connection in the future.

The individual showed up, he was on time, and he was wearing the little booty's on the feet. No complaints about him as a person, he was nice enough, he looked at the project I requested bid for, about 230 sq ft of tile installed in kitchen and utility room. Mind you, I have all of the product needed, the tile, the mortar and the grout, I simply needed someone to install. While the person was here, I remembered a project I have been wanting done, an exhaust fan in the bathroom. We chatted a little and then he stated he would email my quote. 2 or 3 days later, imagine my surprise when the bid is over 4 grand to install 230 sq ft of tile. More than 4 times any of the other bids. As for the exhaust fan, only $225 which was in line with what I was willing to pay. I emailed back that I wanted to have the fan done, saying nothing about the RIDICULOUS $4000 price for the tile, thought I would ask when he came. I got an email back from him about 2 days later stating he was out of town and would call me upon return in two days. Well, it's been 7 days and there is no word from him. I don't have time to waste on contractors or handymen that are OUTRAGEOUSLY priced and NOT RESPONSIVE no matter how polite you are.
Description of Work: Would not use this service if they were the last service available. They did nothing for me.

Communication was great from the office. They explained to me how their services work. They send out a Craftsman to your house who then gives you a free estimate on the spot. You can choose to have them do the work or not. They send out an email reminding you of your appointment the day before which is really helpful. Dave showed up as scheduled and everything was going great until he had some challenges with one of my bathroom faucets. They are extremely old and needed to be cut out with a saw. Unfortunately during the process he accidentally cracked one of my bathroom sinks. My sinks are original 1950's (matching color with the tub and old toilet). Fortunately, I was planning to gut my bathrooms in the future so I'm not so worried about not having a matching sink. Dave found a replacement white sink and ordered it. He came back a week later to install it and he did a great job. In fact it upgraded the look of my old bathroom quite a bit. The work was done to my satisfaction and they covered the cost of the sink and installation as a warranty item so there was no charge to me for that. I would definitely use the Handyman Connection again for work around the house. The only reason I didn't give them A's all the way around was due to them cracking my sink, otherwise they were great to work with and their prices were very reasonable.
Description of Work: Replace 3 faucets (1 kitchen and two bathroom).
David was the handyman assigned to our projects. He was very professional and did excellent work. He did take his time to ensure a quality job. He accompanied me to Home Depot to make sure we had the right materials. David did a great job cleaning up and made sure the work areas were protected from work debris. David did an excellent job and I will use Handyman Connection for future projects.
Description of Work: Installed attic ladder, trimmed out and painted. Replaced all interior hardware (doors and hinges) and replace door weather stripping.
Tim came to our home to provide an estimate of the work that we needed done. The new double oven that we had purchased to replace our existing oven / microwave combination was larger than the existing installation, so we would need the opening modified by having a drawer below the oven removed and the opening "camouflaged" to hide any obvious signs that the opening had been modified. After looking at the installation instructions for the new oven and taking some measurements, Tim provided a written estimate of about $800 for the work to be performed. While higher than I had expected, we needed the opening modified and wanted the work to be done in a professional way. We scheduled the work to be done about two weeks later and Tim arrived with an assistant at the designated time. Tim and his assistant removed the old oven and placed it in our garage where it would be picked up by the new oven installer. Tim consulted with me regarding the most effective and aesthetically pleasing way to modify the opening and got to work. About 4 hours later, Tim had finished the work ... and it looked like the opening had ALWAYS looked like that. Oh ... and when Tim presented me with the bill, he said that the work had not been as involved as he had expected and had taken less time, so he reduced the cost by about $200! When the oven was installed the next day, it fit like a glove and appeared as if it had always been there, far exceeding our expectations for its appearance. We have used Handyman Connection for small electrical, plumbing and now carpentry work. We will ALWAYS be going back to them for small household repairs as they have always met or exceeded our rather high expectations.
Description of Work: Tim, from Handyman Connection, modified a kitchen cabinet so that we could replace our 18 year old oven / microwave combination with a larger double oven.

Scheduling of the estimate was prompt. We had a couple other estimates that were similar, and I liked the demeanor of Randy, our service person, so we decided to go with Handyman connection, and he had already found and demonstrated what the problem was with the garage switches and the ceiling fan before he left. He returned the next day, completed everything quickly, and gave me really good advice about some home repair projects I had in mind--so I received free tutoring in the deal, too. The switch to the ceiling fan turned out to not be configured exactly the way we wanted it, although I told him it was okay before he left. It had been so long since we used this fan I couldn't really remember the configuration, which switches in the room controlled it, how the dimmer of the lamp and the speed of the ceiling fan interacted. After he left I realized that it wasn't quite what we needed. I called the next day and told him about it, told him it wasn't a rush to fix it, since at least we had it turning on and off, but he came back that day at the end of his long work day to get it put right. He likes his work, and he likes to do it right. His advice on other matters saved me money on work I decided I could do myself. But there's a lot I can't do, and I plan to keep working with Handyman Connection and Randy monthly until all the issues this house has are resolved. Handyman Connection quotes by the job, not the amount of time spent. This is good for them because sometimes jobs go well, and quickly, which helps them to make a profit, and it's good for the customer because , at least in my experience with Randy, they will take whatever time is necessary to get jobs done right. I personally would prefer to have the work done as quickly as possible anyway, and not get in a situation where a worker has to "make work" in order to earn the profit they work for. Sometimes people who work on a per hour basis will do other jobs to fill the time, and that can be economical, but it can also be awkward for both parties. Handyman connection also quotes only for labor. Any items needed for repair are invoiced by what is paid for them, and they will purchase it for you before showing up, or you can get it yourself. In our case, I picked a new ceiling fan, bought it over the phone from Home Depot, had it waiting at the service desk for Randy, who picked it up, and he selected the other items needed, which were piddly electric doo-dads, only a few dollars. I think their way of doing business is very straightforward and efficient. I feel a little cheap giving Handyman Connection a B for price. I was never quoted a better price, and I had several things done, but I get a little tired of so many services being quoted at $500 at a minimum. I still feel very strongly that I received good value for my money. A "B" is pretty good. It's about time to get a couple of other things done, so I may post more reviews of this company soon. Thanks, Randy!

I would say do not call these guys unless you have a really small project or risk wasting a lot of time and effort.
Description of Work: They attempted to quote enclosing a covered patio with four walls, two windows and french doors. I waited nearly two weeks for their estimator to come out. He came out and knew what to do, but 2 hours later I was surprised with a call saying they were not going to even quote the project. They said the project was outside their capability even though I explained what was required up front and the estimator said that it was not a problem to do.

Michael was the craftsman assigned for my job request. He went far above & beyond to get the interior painting done within my time frame, and I am very pleased with the result! The work was clean and done with a professional attitude. The only problem was a mix-up with those in charge of scheduling. I will use this company again, but need to ask more questions to be sure we're communicating clearly.
We have used the Handyman Connection several times now; most recently in the last two weeks. We had an urgent need to replace some baseboard molding before we moved into our new home. Mark, from the Handyman Connection changed his schedule in order to get this job done before furniture was placed in the room. He completed this task while the movers were loading and did an outstanding job. By accommodating our schedule, he saved us from installing the molding after the furniture arrived! Next, we used the Handyman Connection to install molding at our old house, together with some repairs to the master bedroom shower. Mark again completed the installation and repairs on time and, did an excellent job!! The repairs to the shower involved removing some black pipe nipples and replacing them with brass. This job could have easily cost thousands of dollars but, Mark was careful and was able to make the replacement without damage to the marble in the shower. In each case, the Handyman Connection in general, and Mark in particular, changed their schedule, completed the work in a timely manner, and kept us apprised of the complexity of each task. We also recently used the Handyman Connection to repair some water damaged drywall and they did a a beautiful job. We highly recommend the Handyman Connection without any reservations!!

The provider was hired to repair a leak in our roof. They contracted the repairs out to a roofing company, who contracted it out to another company whose workers did not seem to be able to speak English so were unable to answer any concerns regarding the work. The original subcontractor did come out after we requested them to and inspected the work. Ultimately we were satisfied, but wish they would have informed us up front about all the subcontracting.

Allen subcontracted his work out and the sub was marvelous. Also, if I ever had a question or if something wasn't "perfect" I would contact Allen and he'd get right on it. They delivered what they promised and stood by their work. I have a beautiful new master bath and the process, which could have been a negative experience with the inconvenience of no usage for a few days, was excellent. I didn't mind the normal down time one has when a remodel is done because the workers were both nice, considerate and skillful. I would use Allen again in a heartbeat! If he doesn't do the work personally, he'll still stand by it 100%. Any minor issues I've had were resolved immediately! THANK YOU, ALLEN!
Description of Work: Bathroom Remodel - subcontracted.
Amazing service. I have used Handyman Connection twice now and have been very pleased both times. The first time they moved my dryer vent and put up a new exhaust fan in the laundry room. Today they removed wet drywall after the storm we had. I could not get a single drying company to come out with the amount of work they have right now. I called and talked to Patty and she was able to get someone out the same day within a few hours. He removed the wet drywall and insulation so I could start the drying process. Thank you so much Patty for your excellent customer service. Your guys did a great job both times and I will be using you again for future projects!! I would highly recommend their services.
