First he quoted me one price and then when I wanted to confirm the original quote he refused to give it to me. Trusting my neighbor, I went ahead anyway although I knew the original price quoted was less. I had a lot of trouble with the condensation line--it kept dripping on the patio. Not really dripping, the water was running off the roof. I called him several times before he responded. A friend said, "I thought you knew this guy." I said I thought I did too. He was mighty friendly when closing the deal. When he came out he could only do a temporary repair and said he would be back. He didn't come back and the water started running off the roof again. When he finally did come back he could only do another temporary repair. It was not until the hail storm in October of 2011 that I found out how bad the installation was. He did not ground the disconnect feeding into my heat pump to the service panel. This could cause injury if the conditions were right to anyone servicing the unit. (electrical shock which could cause someone to lose their balance and fall off the roof) When I mentioned this to him he said they could just disconnect it from the main circuit breaker. This is not how it is done. He says he's also an electrician and could have easily done this. As I already knew the condensate was not transitioned correctly at the copper stub out protruding from the attic. This connection could potentially cause a roof leak. When I contacted him about these problems he said he would send me proof that he did these things, which never came. He had already admitted he installed the condensation line incorrectly and never came back to fix it properly. He kept stalling me for months and months. Until he told me it was too late now and he wasn't responbile. My tough luck. He began to become threatening and I refused to see him in person. I filed a complaint with the BBB, but he is not a member and didn't respond. Another A/C company found and fixed both problems to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Marc Hakes was referred to me by a neighbor when I needed a new airconditioner. He did install an A/C, but improperly.
