 + 0 moreGuy and his assistant not only did an excellent job, but actually seemed to enjoy the challenges the job presented. They were prompt, very hard-working and personable. They also did a fine job of cleaning up after themselves. The estimate I was given was close to the final cost. I have since had Guy install a new vanity top in my master bath and was also very satisfied.
Description of Work: I'd already bought finished wood baseboards to match my wood flooring for a large area of my home, but needed someone to do the work- measure, cut and install. The job was complicated, with a lot of curved corners that called for some problem solving and creativity.

His work was great and he was careful to ask questions and make sure that he was doing things to our specifications. His rates are very reasonable. We will definitely use him again for other home repairs/projects.

 + 0 moreGuy was on time, measured the closet and materials needed and their was no waste of material. After pulling out the existing shelves and repairing the walls, he built the cabinet and secured it. When he left everything was in place and very neatly cleaned up.
Description of Work: Put built in shelving in a closet. Involved pulling out shelves and building in a floor to top of closet. The cabinet can be removed from the closet.

 + 3 moreGuy came for his estimate very punctual. He had ideas to help me. Our only problem was the estimate he gave me was only for part of the work. So when he finished all that I thought the estimate was for. It was 50% higher than I had thought. My only advice is to get the estimate in writing so that all parties know what is expected. He does very good work & I will use him again.
Description of Work: Painted & installed 7 doors. Hung a fan & replaced a light fixture. Changed front door hardware.

 + -1 moreExcellent. From the initial phone calls through completion of the job it was very businesslike, conscientious and diligent, neat, and thorough. He came in a reasonable time considering a week end in between and informing me of a heavy work load.
Description of Work: Removed the old units and replaced both an Insinkerator Evolution Compact disposal AND an Insinkerator HC1100 hot/cold faucet, tank and filter system. He also did three small handyman projects. The work was done by Doug, Guy's coworker. The price includes $172 for the disposal which Doug picked up at Home Depot en route to my house.

 + 1 moreGuy is great. He is quiet and unassuming and obviously loves what he does. Because of Angie's List, he has a steady stream of jobs. When I called him we had to book a couple of weeks ahead, which was fine for me. He was unable to finish everything in one day because I needed to choose and buy a ceiling fan, paint, etc., but he is keeping in touch and as soon as I have everything here, he'll come back and finish. He well deserves his good reports on Angie's List!
Description of Work: The above rate is Guy's hourly fee. When he uses an assistant, the cost is $60 per hour. We have had him do drywall repair, replace a ceiling fan, hang pictures & tapestry, fixing drawers, sand and repaint and replace faulty switches. He does not start counting his hours until he has looked over the work, gone to Home Depot to get supplies and returned to the house.

 + -1 moreGuy arrived at the promised hour and mudded and painted my patio ceiling where the previous work had cracked and chipped. He is very nice and easy to have around. He charged me $30 an hour. I don't like to use the word Excellent in ratings but, he was VERY good.

Description of Work: We called Guy's Wits End to fix our garbage disposal. While the receptionist was pleasant, we didn't actually get a call back from Guy for about three days. We had already had it fixed by another handyman.

 + 6 moreGuy is very trustworthy and great to have doing work around your house. As you can see by the extensive list of items, he did a lot. He was generally prompt and has a very good attitude and works hard. I recommend him and would use him again. He lets you know what he is good at and doesn't do what he feels he can't do well.
Description of Work: Demolished furnace closet, demolished patio roof, removed and replaced exterior siding, installed 3 doors, removed kitchen cabinets, demolished and replaced 2 bathroom vanities and sinks (did not hook up plumbing) installed 2 bathroom medicine cabinets, installed 4 ceiling fans, built alcove for refrigerator, installed drywall in den, demolished closet door and installed wall in its place, demolished concrete at bathroom. Installed base molding and crown molding at newly installed drywall areas, patched holes in walls left from previous electrical repairs, installed door knobs on various doors. Replaced non-functioning toilet parts. Fixed gate in fence.

 + -1 moreGuy was supposed to put up a vinyl fence for me, and I thought we had it all arranged and got out of my way to make sure he got updated on a regular basis (this was a new contruction situation). He even recontacted me to inquire about the job, but he basically let me down at the last minute (and I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't called 2 or 3 times over that week-end). He said it was because his help bailed out on him, but the whole thing just did not seem right. Very disappointing.
Description of Work: None, but was supposed to put up over 480 feet of vinyl fencing.

 + -1 moreHe was courteous and displayed genuine concern when handling the doors, and was careful not to hit the walls. He was clean, and all of his tools were clean. But, we felt we could have done a better job then he at cutting the doors evenly, wished he had told us about the one closet door not catching because he had cut it too short, the guide needs another spacer which we will have to do. We feel as though we need to take all the doors down to cut them evenly and add the additional spacer in the closet! After the hours we spent in the garage cleaning up the saw dust that went all over, we felt that he charged us an exorbitant fee! He went up to $30 per hour, by the way, Angie's list told me he was $25 per hour. When I spoke to him over the phone, I told him Angie's list told me $25 per hour but he said it was $30.
Description of Work: He was to plane/cut down all doors throughout the home as new carpet was installed, and add closet door guides in 2 of the 3 bedrooms. He did cut the doors but almost all were cut uneven. One closet door was cut so short that it doesn't even catch the guide! This door was cut so uneven, it catches in the front and rear of door but the majority of the door doesn't catch the guide and he DIDN'T tell me! This was the disappointing factor with him. He cut the doors in the garage and the saw dust went all over and I/my husband had to clean the garage for hours when he was done. He only had one saw horse. If he knew he had to cut doors down, he should also know to have two saw horses. Reason why he had to cut them down in the garage is because he used the work bench attached to one area of the wall and his one saw horse for the other end of the door. When he installed one of the closet door guides he had placed a rusty nail instead of a concrete nail! It was half way in only!

 + -1 moreGuy was friendly, picked up the parts at home depot, and arrived on time. He installed some of the switches fine and others were improperly installed. When I informed him of the uneven nature of the installation, he said he would look at it the next time I hired him. I would not hire him for electric work again, because his electric work was slow, he is paid by the hour, and he does not seem comfortable with the electric work.
Description of Work: Changed light switches in entire house. Did work himself and brought a helper the next day.

HE GAVE ME A VERY GOOD ESTIMATE OF THE WORK, AND WE AGREED TO GO FORWARD. AGAIN, HE ARRIVED ON TIME AND PROCEEDED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY TO DO THE WORK. HE DID THE JOB PERFECTLY WITHOUT TAKING A SINGLE BREAK. THE JOB WAS GREAT, AND THE EPOXY WORK WAS WONDERFUL. HE WILL DO MORE FOR ME IN THE NEAR FUTURE. IT'S A PLEASURE DOING BUSINESS WITH HIM. HIS RATES ARE MORE THAN REASONABLE.
Description of Work: THE GUY DID SEVERAL HANDYMAN JOBS AT MY HOUSE. HE REPLACED A ROOF VENTILATOR, INSTALLED A MOTION LIGHT, WATERPROOFED MY GATES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, EPOXEYED THE MANY LARGE CRACKS IN MY DRIVEWAY ON HIS HANDS AND KNEES. THIS TOOK AT LEAST 2 HOURS. PLUS, HE PURCHASED ALL THE MATERIALS PRIOR TO HIS ARRIVAL.

The light switch work reduced my experience with this company from an A to a B. The switch problems may have been due to his helper, rather than to Guy. I would be willing to give him a try again.
Description of Work: Guy put together an outdoor grill, purchased and replaced many door knobs and locks, and replaced about thirty light switches.
