Description of Work: We have been using Empire for about 10 years. I completely trust them with any heating, cooling, or plumbing issue that may arise. While their prices may be a bit higher than other companies, the job is always completed and done right. It is well-worth the extra expense.

+ 5 moreWe have used Empire for several years. They have always been prompt and courteous. We are on their monthly payment plan so we get reduced rates if we have a plumbing or heating or AC problem, and then the inspection and cleaning of the AC units are paid for by the time of their inspection each year. This year a drain was installed on the hot water heater, so we had a small bill. When we had a major pipe leak about 4 years ago, they were able to help us quickly and professionally.
Description of Work: Performed annual inspection of our plumbing and AC units. Cleaned AC units.

Description of Work: I was on vacation and my toilet began leaking. I had left the plumbing company phone that I had used in the past in case there was a problem when I was gone. They insisted on payment prior to doing the repair even though I was a prior customer and charged WAY TOO MUCH. I will look for another plumbing company that charges reasonable prices and doesn't take advantage of me in the event of an emergency.

It ws my fault for not making it a point of finding more estimates before have the work done. I guess I had make the mistake of trusting that these people ran their business with integrity and that they had my best interests at heart when that was not the case at all
Description of Work: On the night of April 24th, I discovered I had a small leak in the bottom of my garbage disposal. The next day I called Empire Plumbing (whom I had used on numerous ocassions prior) and scheduled an appointment for the following morning. When the contractor arrived, he looked at my leak and did the math on what it would cost. This was approximately $557.00 to have a new garbage disposal installed and have the plumbing hooked back up to the dishwasher. I asked what it would cost just to take out the disposal and make sure it didn't leak anymore. He said $100.00 less. (please note: I was actually given this price of $457.00 because I belonged to their "Planned Service Agreement Program" -otherwise, I would of had to of paid an additional $90.00 more) I thought this price was quite steep, but this company had done work before that I was satisfied with and I knew they were licensed, bonded and insured. Because of this, I agreed to pay the price of $457.00. The total time it took for the job to be completed was just over one hour. This troubled me afterwards and the next morning I went to my neighborhood hardware store (Koller Hardware) to find out how much the cost was of the items installed in and under my sink. This amount totaled $21.00. The tax on the job totaled to $26.00. That totals to $47.00. That leaves a balance of $410.00 for ...umm...what exactly? I spoke with three licensed, bonded and insured plumbers shortly afterwards and was told that the typical labor rate for an Arizona plumber was between $70.00 to $100.00 an hour. After I gathered this information, I contacted "Jason" the manager...possibly the owner of the company...and expressed my concerns to him (in a very polite and professional manner). Jason responded that in no way was I overcharged for anything and that part of the labor included the contractor driving to and from my home. He also said that the GPS on the contractor's van indicated he was at my home for just over an hour and a half. I was kinda wondering why it took him such a long time to pull out of my driveway. In reviewing my contract as a member of the "Planned Service Agreement Program" (in which I paid $200.00 for), one of the perks was that I was supposed to receive free service calls. This confuses me.

+ -1 moreI called empire at around 11:45pm in the evening when I arrived home because my a/c was not cooling. Their answering service took a message, and they responded back 5 minutes later. They said the earliest they could come out was in 3 hrs, or I could take a first appointment slot for the following morning at 7:30 am. I went for the latter. They arrived promptly, diagnosed the problem quickly and had all the parts necessary on their truck so they were able to fix it immediately. I was very pleased with their service, and received several comments about the a/c/ working even better now than before it broke.
Description of Work: Although the a/c fan seemed to be blowing, there was no cool air coming out of the system. Empire came out, diagnosed the problem, replaced the part with ones they had on their truck, and fixed the system efficiently and effectively.

+ 1 moreEmpire showed up within the time window we'd set for the appointment, addressed concerns I had about the difficulty of changing the air filter and how well it fit. They showed me a much easier way to get to my air filter than what I had been doing. On checking out the system, they found that one of the major parts had a slow oil leak and recommended replacement. They also discussed with me how the changes in environmental legislation would be affecting the longevity of my system (like the year where there won't be new parts manufactured for my system and how repairs will take place with existing stocks of parts until they run out, and how as of 2020 it will become illegal for them to carry the type of coolant my system takes). He made some recommendations about extending the life of my system, and gave me a lot of useful information on long-range planning, costs of the new systems and so forth. I decided to replace the part that was leaking oil, and add another part that gives the system an extra boost on the initial startup that he said would improve the longevity of the system. (sorry, can't remember the exact part names). All services were done the same day.

+ -1 moreWe bought a forclosed home. The a/c system was 13 years old and was doing a terrible job at a high price to try to cool the house. So we had Empire A/C come out. I highly recommend Brandon Joyce who did our install. He was above and beyond what our expectations, and the A/C system works great! He even repaired/replaced old bad ductwork from several years ago. They researched the unit carefully to make sure it qualified for government tax credits and SRP cash rebates. They we on time, extremely meticulous, and exactly right on their recommendations. It works great and my electric bill is much small now, even with the weather getting hotter. I highly recommend the.

+ -1 moreTHEY REPLACED THE WATER LINE BY TAKING IT UP THROUGH THE ATTIC, INSTEAD OF UNDERNEATH THE SLAB, WHICH WAS INCORRECT. THEY DID NOT DO THE JOB CORRECTLY, PER THEIR OWN FACTORY TRAINING. THEY INSTALLED THE HOT WATER LINE IN THE VERY TOP OF THE ATTIC WITH NO INSULATION, AND IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT THE BOTTOM AND BE COVERED WITH INSULATION. THEY CAME OUT AND DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT THEY WERE DOING. I HAVE BEEN IN THE CONSTRUCTION BUSINESS ALL OF MY LIFE, AND THESE GUYS KNEW ABOUT 10% OF WHAT I KNEW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. FINALLY, THEY DID GET THE JOB DONE RIGHT AFTER I HAD TO CALL THE FACTORY TO FIND OUT THE CORRECT PROCEDURE AND HAVE THEM COME BACK A COUPLE OF TIMES TO FIX EVERYTHING. I HAD TO STOP PAYMENT ON THEIR CHECKS TWICE TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE GOING TO COMPLETE THE JOB CORRECTLY. I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.
