I paid for the return of the Defective DVR incl - Box, Postage & Handling plus Insurance. God Help SPRINT Cell Phone Custmers if Charlie Buy's it.
Description of Work: I tried out the DVR . It did not work, Dish sent me a replacement DVR , and they included a Prepaid Label. I mailed back the defective DVR. The 2nd DVR would not work either. They both would go to sleep & then I recorded a Blank Screen. I decided o go back to my TIVO unit. I called DISH Network 10 + times to mail me a Box & a Shipping Label to return the DEFECTIVE DVR. The Representatives were always apologetic & stated they would send out a Prepaid Box but it never happened BUT MIRACLEOUSLY, I always received my Monthly BILL??? Then , Dish threatened me with Billing me for the Defective DVR if I did not mail it back. Plus, report it to the Credit Bureau as a Unpaid Bill if I did not pay for the the Box, Postage & Handling , and the monthly Bill. We Loved the VERIA TV Channel on Dish & the Customer Service used to be Great But Charlie Ergen , I'm afraid has placed Profit before Customer Service. We'll never be a Dish Network Customer again!

We were very satisfied with them. They gave us a time that they would be here and they were here within 15 minutes of the time they quoted. They were here at 9:15, they did the work and they were out of here by 10 o'clock. They were in appropriate uniforms, nice and clean.

Today we discontinued service with Dish because they were not able to come to an agreement with AMC and decided to drop them from their programming. Many of our favorite shows are on AMC so we switched to Cox after finding out that they were actually signficantly cheaper for slightly more channels and DVR service. When I called Dish to cancel our service, they service rep was nice until she couldn't talk me into continuing with Dish. Then she informed me that she would be sending me boxes to return our leased receivers and DVR, that I had to pay for the shipping and some amount of fee for returning the equipment. After over a decade of paying $118/month to Dish, I was surprised to get hit with fees and shipping costs. She assured me that I would return as a customer soon which would have been a possibility except for an unknown amount of fees that I was going to be penalized for because I was canceling service. I was not able to get a clear answer on how much I was going to have to pay. She just said that in about 10 days after they received the equipment, THEY would decide how much I owed and take it using the banking or credit card information they had on file. I felt very threatened during the call and don't like the thought that I would have no say on how much my cancellation fees were going to be!
Description of Work: I called today to cancel service with Dish Network who we have used for television service for over a decade.

Description of Work: This is a report on Dish Network and not the individual store. listed above in the other report. I had Directv for 7 years and have never had as many problems as a new customer with Dish for the first 7 months. I will have to wait for my two year commitment to end. Short & to the Point. New second HD receiver. Same issues. Record DVR and program skips, voice not in sync with mouth moving. Cant leave system on for dog when Im away because Dish decides that after non use and not changing channels they shut the system down but of course the TV says on with no picture. Message says to press select. Dog not that smart and Im not home. How dumb can it get? I keep losing picture and sound. The pixil boxes. They put PPV in the middle of other programing so you easily can make a mistake and order a movie. I must had done that since I was charged for a movie on demand for $7 bucks and a call to customer service provided no customer service. I learned how to program a PIN number to order a movie so that does not happen again. Sound level on second receiver very low on some channels. I bet tech installed wiring wrong. I was always able to rent DVD and use it when Direct TV installed but I cannot use DVD since I was never really told what to do. The time the tech came over to switch the receiver out I mentioned to him about the DVD and he tells me its hooked up without helping. Switch made in less than 10 min. Glad I had the contract. Never had an issue with Directv downloading programing but with Dish I have to give them a time to download and my home and work schedule changes. Why did I switch from Direct to Dish? Because during a hail storm Direct wanted to charge me $49 to move the dish for a new roof. Another dumb move. I was paying $140 a month for everything and over a $49 charge they lost me. I think in 18 months I may try cable. Where is the fault. Dish or local store on Bell. I think both.

These people have left us feeling completely violated. We made the mistake of leaving the service I had been using for the last few years, and gave them a try because the sales agent that came to our door made them sound like it would be worth giving them a chance. Much to our regret we have paid through the nose. We realized after only a week and a half that their service was to say the least very poor. We were told by our provider that they would give us a 30 day grace period. However Dish refused to see it through. After calling them and asking them to please remove their equipment from our house cause we were very unhappy with their service, they told us that that was not the way they worked. First of all we were going to have to pay 400.00 for breaking the 2 year contract with them. Next they sent us a letter telling us that we were being charge an additional 400.00 for not returning the equipment to them. We told them that we had been waiting for them to come and pick it up. Again we were told that they did not work that way. We would have to return the equipment to them. They would send us the boxes and return labels. Which after a couple of weeks and another threatening letter wherein they again were going to charge us the additional monies because they still had not received the equipment. We called them and told them that we still had not received any boxes or labels from them. They then finally sent us the labels along with the boxes. The next thing you know we get an email a week after receiving the equipment from us, thanking us for the additional monies in the amount of 50.00 of which they had removed from our bank account. We were to say the least very upset and called demanding to know why had they gone into our account and removed an additional 50.00 when we no longer had their service. At this they responded that they were charging us for the boxes as well as the labels. Be very afraid to even try using this service, these people are the worst kind of rip offs there is.
Description of Work: Their service was very poor. We were told that we would get free rental service which we never did. Our service would cut us off sometimes in the middle of a movie, with a message telling us that due to inactivity they were shutting our service off. Very frustrating when you're watching a good movie. If we had problems, they do not answer if it's after hours or on weekends. You are out of luck. Our worst experience ever when it came to cable service. I totally would have just walked away but feel that the public needs to be warned about them.

Not fun. We had the dish installed at the same time we upgraded our TV & sound system. The installers were ham-handed, drilling blind from outside the house into woodwork on the inside. We had no idea of the amount of hole-drilling & cabling that would be necessary to each TV to make the system work. The DVR system does not work as well as the Cox DVR. For instance, when you program it to record only NEW episodes of a show, it can't tell the difference between the new and the rerun episodes, so we often end up with up to three recordings/day of the Daily Show, etc. There is no way to tell whether we've already seen one, so we have to start each recording to find out if we've seen it already and delete all the reruns. Irritating. Plus, we occasionally get a notice on-screen that the signal was interrupted and lose a few seconds of the show. This didn't happen with Cox. When the year's up, we will be uninstalling the dish cable, filling up all the holes and going back to Cox.
