Description of Work: Electrician checked out main electrical box. Overloaded breaker was found and reset. Loads were redistributed so that overload would not reoccur. I worked with electrician to identify loads connected to the breakers in the box. Electrician labeled the breakers so that I would know what they are connected to. This was very useful to me so that I know what I'm dealing with when I have electrical changes made in the future.

Description of Work: Desert Mountian Electric was offering a $199.00 Circuit-Breaker Box Service, Including Replacement Breakers special. When they came they tried to sell me a $5,000.00+ job, and never provided me the service. In fact when we asked him to preform the service. the gentlemen stated "well I guess I could but I have to go to Home Depot for the parts. He continued, "it wont help anyway since you need another breaker panel". He further explained that "all our breakers were full and we needed to install another complete panel". We have since had two other reputable firms tell us that was inaccurate information. We have since had the service completed by a differnt firm, Reynolds Electric for $1000.00. In addition, whereas, Desert Mountain Electic (Angie's list) wanted over 5k. When I requested a refund they replied stating I refused to have the work done because the other services they were trying to sell me needed to be done first. At no time did I refuse their service. Desert Mountain electric was offering me bogus services and told me that they couldn't do the panel service until I addressed the more serious issues. They told me contact Angie's list for a refund. At this time I am requesting a full refund of my $199.00

I will post the email communication that I had with the customer. First, let me gie you a little background as to what the call and work that the he asked us to perform consisted of: The homeowner's wonderful fiance wanted a steamer installed in their shower and they purchased a breaker box service for the job. We tried to explain to them that the breaker box service was not necessary and a waste of money, for installing a steamer. But that they would however need to increase the load to his system to be able to install this for his fiance. (they refused to have the panel done, based upon the fiance getting upset that she couldn't get the steamer done that day and told us they would have their friend who is an electrician complete the work for them). Below is our correspondence via email; which anyone reading this can see what type of individual I was attempting to make happy.... Homeowner: I would like a complete refund on the coupon aI purchased. I will not be using your services. During my appointment the electrician sent to perform the work for the Angie's List offer I purchased. Upon looking at my electrical panel your employee determined that I would need must more extensive work done and wrote me a quote for work not related to the Angie's List offer. The assesment also determined that, at the present time, it was not imparitive for me to have the work performed for the offer I purchased nor did the electrician have the necessary parts on hand to perform the work. Therefore I did not receive the service I paid for. Given this, I would like to request a refund of my money. Can you please let me know when I can expect to see a refund on my credit card so as to conclude our business unless I decide to retain your company for the different work needed and quoted during the visit. Thank you in advance for expediting my request and for your assistance on my electrical needs. Best regards, Bill Lane, Customer. OUR response: I will need to speak to the electrician and look over the invoice he gave for the work performed and also the estimate. I need to determine if you maxed out your amperage and the spaces available. We can credit you, but I believe that the work you would like to have performed, in addition to this coupon, could not be accomplished due to lack of space and over loading your panel. I will be in contact with you tomorrow. Thank you. HOMEOWNER response: First whom am I speaking with ? Lets be clear he gave me an estimate. There was no work performed. Furthermore the electrician stated that he didn't have any parts to replace the panel or breakers. He told myself and my fiancee that he would have to go to Home Depot if we wanted the service done that day. I asked him if the coupon included labeling the breakers he said that he could do that if we wanted him to (of course it is included, that was the main reason we wanted the service). I don't understand how the electrician could have determined that we maxed out our amperage without testing the system in any manner. He simplly opend the existing box, looked at it, saw the box had no open slots and told us it would cost 6k to bring another 200 amp box onto the property. He could not explain how we could be running near max capacity even though we have nothing diffrent in our house than any of our nieghbors. In fact we don't have a pool, and Jacuzzi which most of our nieghbors do have. OUR response: Sir, the invoice states, that you refused the work once you got an estimate. Our electrician was willing to perform the work for the breaker service, but once he explained it to you, the invoice states that you canceled the work to be performed. WE cannot guess what breakers you have, so we have to look at your panel. We didn't know the type of panel you had either; if pictures would have been forwarded then yes, we would have showed with all the breakers that coincide with your panel. (But you still would have had the issue of the steamer). On these jobs, we have to come and evaluate the panel first. To do the future steamer that your fiance would like, is impossible, because there is no space available and no tandems to connect to. We don't have to test anything to know this, it is visible, and obvious. But to suffice your future work you will need one. So, you might have your friend from Palo Verde, stop by and confirm this and your second opinion. We offered the breaker service and you refused, because you also agreed and that this would be pointless if you completed it. Your steamer will not survive on your current situation. I cannot refund you, for you paid Angie's, not our company, so I suggest that you call them. I don't have a problem with that, I just want you to realize your current situation and why the work was not performed. Your choice sir, not ours. Hope you get your answers and your steamer works out for you. Sorry, you felt that we did not satisfy you, but we gave you honest answers.

Description of Work: This was the best experience that I have had when having work done on our home. We had recessed lighting put in our kitchen. Jay was careful to understand what I wanted and explained how he was going to be working. This project went much faster than I had thought it would and there was no mess left. Description of Work: Job: install unswitched outlet on exterior patio wall for TV. Positive: the outlet works. Negative(s): Tech arrived late, Owner did not return call inquiring of whereabouts in the interim. No explanation or apology from tech for 30 min delay. Used hammer and screwdriver to punch hole in concrete block wall vs. hole saw or more appropriate tool, resulting in hole too large for faceplate to cover. Tech took 30 minute side trip to Home Depot (0.5 miles away) to get a few basic parts which he then significantly overcharged me for. Finishing touch was to use bright white caulk around outlet on wall that is painted earth tone.

Description of Work: Even though we specified in our initial call to the office the scope of job, the electrician arrived unprepared and had to pick up the necessary parts at the local hardware store on our dime.
