Consolidated Mechanical is the worst HVAC I have ever worked with. They were contracted via American Home Shield. (my home warranty company). They installed a brand new unit but we couldn't get to go below 81 degrees. They came out 4x to correct the unit after the install but still didn't fix the problem. After the 4th time, I gave them a 1 star review via the home warranty and they refused to work with me after that. I am now paying out of pocket to have the unit fixed. If you see them on your email, call your home warranty to have them find another company. It will save so much less problems and stress.

If I could give a negative score I would. This company was utilized through a warranty company (AHS) so that is another issue. I will never work with CMI again. Lack of communication, they only do the bare minimum, they overcharge (more than double the cost for refrigerant than other companies I asked because the warranty pays so little) and they asked for it upfront even though they had not completed any work. I had to change my work schedule to be at the house 4 times when they told me they would come to replace the coil, and then each time they called to say the unit was wrong, not there or they did not call at all. The only decent thing was the actual technicians. They were polite and did a good job.

We have American Home Shield as our warranty company, and they assigned Consolidated Mechanical to come out and diagnose why our unit was not working.  On 1/31 a gentleman came out to diagnose the problem. He stated that the coil was bad and that they would need to schedule a technician to come out and pull the coil from the air handler.  On 2/9, two technicians came out to pull the coil. Darrell, the office manager, told me that we had to pay up front for the 10 pounds of R22 Freon. I questioned this since the technicians weren’t sure the coil could be repaired, but Darrell said that Marvin, the owner, would not authorize the work otherwise. I paid Consolidated Mechanical $1900.00 for 10 pounds of Freon on 2/9 before the technicians left with our coil. On 2/17, Marvin called and said that our coil had failed 3 times and that they were having difficulty finding the parts they needed to be able to fix our unit and wanted to come by and take a look. He got up in the attic and looked at the air handler. He said the new coils are built much larger now and a replacement was not going to be found due to the age of the unit. He said he was going to contact AHS and get back to me in a day or two.  On 2/21, Marvin called back and left a message stating he had put together a plan to solve our problem and the pricing he would have to charge. He wanted to come by to explain it all. I called him back and asked him to explain over the phone. He wanted us to replace the unit completely and pay him an additional $2600. I asked him what AHS was covering and he said nothing. I told him we wanted the coil replaced, and if that could not be done that AHS should be paying for the replacement of the air handler per our warranty. Marvin became very upset and said that if we do not replace the unit he is walking away from the job. I told him we would not be replacing the unit unless AHS was paying for it. I then asked to speak to someone higher than him since we were not getting any where. He told me God was who I would need to speak to since he was the owner of the company. That’s when I told him I would be contacting AHS. 2/22 I contacted AHS and spoke with Tony. He issued a recall for Consolidated Mechanical to come out and reinstall our coil and refund our money. He also scheduled a different company contracted through AHS to come out to our home to work on our coil. I called Marvin and told him that AHS submitted a recall and they needed to schedule someone to come back out and he said he did not have the power to do that and to call the office. I called and spoke to Glen who proceeded to tell me he would not do that until they spoke with Ryan from AHS. I told him the escalation department manager had issued a recall and he told me that it did not matter. I also told him to refund our $1900 for the Freon that we will not be getting from them and he said that if I wanted my money back I should file a fraud claim with my bank. 2/23 I contacted AHS again since Consolidated Mechanical refused to return our coil and money, and spoke with Benj, and escalation manager who told me that Consolidated Mechanical had canceled the last recall order and that he was issuing another one. He also tried looking up the “Ryan” that they said they wanted to talk to. When Benj called Consolidated Mechanical, Glen refused to give Ryan’s last name to the AHS representative. 2/24 Benj from AHS called and said the recall had been canceled once again and that he issued a 3rd recall and escalated it further up the chain of command. He said that Consolidated Mechanical has been told to cal me to schedule the coil installation today. Glen called and scheduled the install for Friday between 8-12, but still would not guarantee a refund of our $1900 for the Freon and said Marvin would have to approve it. We immediately filed a claim with our bank to get our money back. 2/25 The coil was finally reinstalled.

WORTHLESS. If you plan on going with Consolidate mechanical it will be a waste of money. I tried to go through my home warranty which sent them out to diagnose the issue with my HVAC and they told me it was the thermostat and told me to fix it (Which cost me $100 to just get them out). I bought a new thermostat and still had the same issues. Then tried to follow up on their "30 day call back" policy by calling every day for 5 DAYS without air conditioning to realize i needed to call a competent contractor. Now my air conditioning is fixed no thanks to CMC.

RUDE. RUDE. RUDE. HIGH PRICED. Had them come out to look at repairing our central AC. They wanted to charge me $1,200 just for refilling the refrigerant, which costs only $158 if I buy it retail on my own from an approved EPA distributor. They also refused to do the repair if we didn't buy the refrigerant from them directly. When I asked about this, the owner treated me like a piece of stupid dirt. Yes, I know. Women asking questions. It's appalling. How dare me.

Discovered that the A/C had been installed over my dryer vent hood smashing it almost completely closed, and may have caused a fire within the vent pipe. Due to the fact it was just over 24 months ago Marvin at Consolidated stated he won't fix the problem. He was incredibly abusive and threatening, and refused to furnish his certificate of insurance so I believe he may be operating without insurance.

My AC went out 2 months ago. After about 2 weeks a technician from my home warranty company came out they told me that there was a Freon leak. But they recommended that I replace it, even though that wouldn't be covered by the warranty. The unit is 18 years old, and one of the main contributing factors to me purchasing a home warranty. The technician also told me that the issue was a result of a previous faulty repair, so the warranty company probably wouldn't cover it anyway. Of course, the last repair was done through the warranty company, so I call them and tell them what the technician told me. They re-dispatch the last company (Consolidated Air) that repaired the unit the last time and told me that it was up to me to get them to fix the issue if they caused it. On top of that there is fine print in the contract that they cover $10 per pound for coolant. As a typical consumer I have no idea how much coolant costs. They proceed to tell me coolant is $30-120 per pound because it has been banned by the EPA, depending on the technician they send. But that they don't ask the companies ahead of time, you just have to pay whatever price is quoted. I was again shocked, how can they be responsible for picking the technician, and not know how much the repair would cost and not pick the one that has $30 coolant vs $120 coolant? So I wait another week for Consolidated Air to come look at the unit. At the time, they tell me that they have diagnosed the problem, but will need to have their parts department get back to me with an estimate... After a couple more weeks I finally connect with the parts person (who had been on vacation) and am told that it would be $750 + $75 deductible to fix it (on top of what the warranty company would pay them). I tell them what the warranty company told me, that they were responsible for the repairs... They said it wasn't their issue... They fixed something else the last time they were there and didn't detect the Freon leak. After a long conversation, I finally give in, I need it fixed, so just come on Monday and I will pay the fees. Monday comes and I get a call from them saying they are not coming, and that I need to call the home warranty company. Now that it has been several weeks, when I call the warranty company, I then ask, can you replace the coolant with the "new" kind that isn't banned by the EPA? They tell me to talk to Consolidated Air to see if that would be possible and if so I could get $150 toward the repair. I figure if I am spending the money, I might as well fix it right even if it is more than the the current repair, so I don't have this issue with the coolant again. So, I call Consolidated Air and explain the situation, that I understand it might cost more, but is it possible? The guy tells me that it makes perfect sense to him, since the "old" refrigerant will be banned in 2020, that replacing it today would be "like putting new tire that you were going to sell"... and tells me that the parts guy would call me back... but that the price of coolant was going up Friday. That was over a month ago... I have repeatedly called and no one has returned my call. I was told multiple times that the owner would call me. It has never happened. Finally, I called another company to do the repair... who is repairing the leak and replacing the coolant with the "new kind" for $800 out of pocket for me. Very long story to say, I do not recommend Consolidate Mechanical.

TERRIBLE!!! In reading several of the reviews, I noticed a common thread is AHS Warranty. Both companies are incompetent & disgraceful. I've had AHS for 17yrs. I opened an AC claim on 7/12/17 as unit was running constantly & inside temp was 90. The first company AHS sent me to never called me for 2 days. I tried contacting several times to no avail. I called AHS, on hold wait time 1hr+ to speak with someone. I asked to have my request sent to another vendor & was told I had to wait 24hrs to request another vendor. I said I had already waited 48hrs & questioned why I had to wait another day. At that point, the AHS person on the phone apologized & said he would look for another vendor. He informed me that all of their vendors in my area, Mesa, AZ, were busy. I asked that my request be expedited as I'm 60yrs old in 105 degree weather & I have 2 indoor pets & my AC need to be fixed right away. He said he would send it to someone to expedite & that they might possibly give me permission to find someone on my own to do the work. On 12/14, I received a call from AHS telling me that I had authorization to go outside their network & find someone on my own. She started telling me all the companies that I couldn't use & then told me whoever I got would need to call a special authorization number. I told her I was driving in my car & did not have any way to take down the information & asked if she could email it to me. She replied, "Yes", confirmed my email address & we ended the call. I never received the email. On 7/18, I called AHS, again 1hr+ wait time, to find out what was going on with my service request. They told me it had been placed with another vendor & when I inquired with who, they realized the vendor they sent it to was no longer in business! Then they told me they had a vendor available to come out that day but when I called them, the vendor told me they were scheduling appointments for the end of the following week. So I called AHS, another 1hr+ wait, then they told me that i still had the option to find someone on my own & asked if I wanted to do that. I said yes & obtained the information. I contacted someone I knew who does AC work, is honest, reliable efficient & not overly expensive. He came that afternoon, inspected the 30yr old unit & told me what was wrong. It needed to be replaced as it was too old to get parts to repair. He called AHS's authorization number I'd been given, only 30min wait time on this line, in order to get approval to replace my unit. He spoke with the AHS representative, answered all her questions: "What does the label on the unit read?" "I have no idea, it's faded out due to age." "What is the problem with the AC?" "It has Freon leak in condenser coil & coil is rusted. The unit is too old to get parts for & I can replace it today for $5500." The AHS person asked if he could just replace the coil & he told her he couldn't get a coil that would work with the age of my unit. She said her authorization limit was $5000 & needed to send the request to her supervisor. I asked if I paid the additional $500 could she approve it & she told me no. After not hearing anything on the status of the authorization approval on Wed, I called AHS, you know the wait time, I was told it had not been approved & a second opinion was required. Enter Consolidated Mechanical (CM), who were contacted on 7/20. They scheduled an appointment to for Friday, 7/21 & failed to show up. We rescheduled for Monday, 7/24, between 7&11. On Sunday, 7/23, I received an email from AHS telling me that my work order had been closed & to please rate the service of CM. I called AHS first thing Monday to let them know no one had been to my home & my AC was still not fixed. They reopened my work order & contacted CM who said they would be out between 11&3. CM called later & cancelled. They finally made it on Tuesday, 7/25, but couldn't check anything because the coil & outside line were frozen. So he shut my AC off completely & returned the next day. I was unaware of the amount of ice build-up on the coil & as the coil thawed & the ice melted, water began leaking through my ceiling. I have informed both companies of the secondary damage being caused by their multitude of delays; but neither seems to care. And, the second opinion diagnosis - the unit is too old to get parts for & needs to be replaced. The technician who came to my home was not allowed by his employer, CM, to call AHS directly & provide the diagnosis & estimate to repair so that they could provide immediate approval; that has to go through someone else. So on 7/27, I called AHS to inquire about the status of my request & they informed me they were waiting on CM's diagnosis. I spent all of 7/27 & 7/28 calling back & forth between AHS & CM to try & find out when my AC will be fixed. AHS tells me they have not received diagnosis are given approval to perform work, CM claims they sent everything on 7/26 & have part on order; however, no one could tell what part was on order. Currently, I'm looking at minimum 10 days. That will put me at day 26 no AC in AZ summer monsoon 100+ temps. I hope I survive! STAY AWAY FROM AHS & CM!!

Overall installation went well. Prior to and during the installation they were very attentive and provided all the info we needed. Very punctual. AFTER the sale is a disappointment. Trying to get to get anyone, especially the owner who we were conversing with, to call us back is extremely poor. We have had to call them as they never called us back. The way I see it is that now that they have our money they have moved on. May or or may not hire them again - depending on the issue or if I had a choice with my warranty.

My first experience with them was with American Home
Shield (warranty) - ConMech is contractor for my area.  I was very impressed with the repair and attention
to detail.  The repair was minor but they didn't try to up-sell it.  It
was likely because my previous AC contractor left defrost connection
loose or disconnected.
Also, they replaced some missing sheet
metal screws that seemed to go missing following every visit of my
previous AC contractor.  Thus I hired them to do my routine
maintenance.  Added benefit is they waive the AHS $75service call fee
for break/fix repairs.  I've had three of their tech so far (Walter, Shaun and Darren).  Each are excellent.

Consolidated has been around awhile (yrs of service to our communities). My home warranty company has sent them to my home on many occasions for the fix of my dual ac/heat pump unit. My unit finally needed to be replaced. Marv (an engineer) came to my home on Friday, checked out what type of unit I had, made a few calls, within an hour I knew what type unit I needed, the cost of the unit, and was asked how I wanted to handle, while being very professional in the process! We discussed, set up the time, and day the unit was to be installed. The following Tuesday, at the agreed upon time, two technicians showed up at my house at the designated 8:00 am and began to remove the old unit, and installing the new unit. The day was rainy, so in my mind I knew they would call and change the delivery date. No, that was not the case. It was for them a perfect day, because of the activities in the attic, (things in there had to be replaced) the temperature outside was cooler then normal (80) in Arizona at 8 am, so the techs were excited about completing their work. The techs were very professional, only came in the house at the end to install a new (large number) digital thermostat. Overall the whole experience was pleasant, and I would recommend highly consolidated mechanical if you need to repair or replace your A/C unit.

Marv at consolidated mechanical was helpful from the very beginning. He helped me coordinate my insurance claim for my damaged unit and assisted me in determining the best replacement unit. The installation went seamlessly and Marv was in constant contact and responded promptly to all of my questions or concerns. He even coordinated with my roofer to make repairs to the roof and put a new coating on prior to the install of the new unit. The guys that did the installation were prompt and professional. They even gave me an orientation to my new high tech thermostat.

We had our unit serviced and were told that the relay and motor needed to be replaced. We called the company we have our home warranty with and told them this so they sent out Consolidated Mechanical to check the system. We had an appointment with them on 01/27, but needed to reschedule two different times, they were very accommodating. The actual technician called prior to arriving and replaced the parts. When he was done the squealing stopped and he told us that he doesn't detect anything else wrong. A week later we heard something and called them back. The same technician came back and replaced the final part.

They were sent out by my home warranty company. I was given a time span of of four hrs. within which they would arrive. I was then notified by the technician within twenty min. Of his arrival at my home. He made me aware he was there then immediately went to work on my unit. When my unit was working again, he came to my door and explained what he did. He was very professional.

Two weeks later my unit went out, the temp.was 110 on my patio. I contacted the warranty company to set up another appt. I explained to my customer service rep. That I could not be home the remainder of the day for the company to go ahead and put me on their schedule and leave me a message as to when I would be scheduled and I would be at home. There was a mix up with the message and I wasn't scheduled. I contacted the scheduler and explained what happened. He got approval for a technician to be on overtime to fix my unit. The technician was here for a little over an hr. replacing the motor. He was very professional and answered all my questions.

I came on today to nominate this company to be a part of Angie's list, not knowing they had already been nominated. I was very surprised to see the grading they had received. After my experience with them I will refer them to friends and family.

This company was dipatched by our home warranty company AHS. The representative told my husband that someome would be out between 7-10 AM. I was up @ 7:00, and did not leave the house at all between that time. At 10:20, I had not heard from anyone, so I called the office, and was told that the tech should be contacting me, and that the time was between 7:00 and 11:00. At 11:20, I still had not heard from anyone, so I called AHS (the warranty company). I was on hold with them for approximately 20 minutes waiting for a representative. At that time, my call waiting alerted that Consolidated Mech. was on the other line, so I hung up with AHS and answered the phone. It was a woman telling me that the tech tried to call me and no one answered, so he went to another customer, and would come to my house next. I told her that I have been waiting all morning and have not left the house. I told her to cancel the call because I had errands to run and could not wait at home for the rest of the day. I then called AHS back and explained what had happened. They got Consolidated Mech on the phone, and told me that they would definitely have the tech at my house in 2 hours, which would have been 2:00. I said that would be fine. I waited until 3:10, again, a no show. Finally, a woman called again saying that the tech would be there shortly. I told her that I had to go pick up my daughter, and would not be back until 3:45. She said that was fine. When I returned home the tech showed up shortly afterward. I explained what had been happening with the AC, and that we had recently had duct work done, thinking it may have something to do with the reduced output of the AC. He did not check the ductwork, but he went up on the roof, took some pictures of the AC, and came down and told me that they AC was completely clogged up, that it would cost $400 to have to cleaned, and that it was obsolete, and the compressor would probably go out on the next year, even if we get it cleaned. I immediately started contacting AC companies to get bids on a new AC. So tonight, my husband went up in the attic to check the ducts, and the main one had completely collapsed, so cold air was being blown only into the attic. Once he propped it up, the house immediately cooled down.

My experience was not horrible, but not good either. I had to use this company because of my warranty contract with American Home Shield. They were very responsive and told us they would come on the following day within a 4 hour window. I started calling for an update towards the end of the promised time window but nobody would answer the phone. Somebody called about 1 hour late to tell me he would be in my place in another 45 minutes, when it was already getting dark. His B.O. was so intense that I had a hard time talking to him inside the house. He seemed to know what he was doing, but things ended up working the same after he left. He spent a long time on my roof holding private conversations on the phone, which explains why he was almost 2 hours late coming in the first place. We paid the $60 of co-payment, but ended up hiring Noble Refrigeration outside our warranty plan to do the job.

One of the motors went out immediately after my warranty was up. I called them to have them take a look at it and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Now, a couple of years later it is in really bad shape. I will not use them again and would not recommend them. Every time I had to deal with this company it was nothing but hassles. The company that checks my HVAC unit every year noticed that there was a problem, so that is when I called them to have them to have a look at it and they told nothing was wrong with it.
