Chip's Tree Service promptly responded to my request and was able to schedule a tree inspection within the week. The tree specialist arrived at our home on time and on the scheduled date. Our tree was not able to be saved and tree removal was scheduled for what we felt was a reasonable cost. Chip's Tree Service removed our diseased tree and cleaned up all debris.

I contracted with Chips Tree Service to trim 4 trees, inject 4 trees with fertilizer, and treat 2 trees with insecticide. I also contracted with them to remove a saguaro next to my house, appx. 40 ft. high, because it was dying and leaning towards the house. The 4 trees were trimmed OK, 2 injected with insecticide, and only 2 trees treated with fertilizer. The arborist who created the work order, reserved a crane to remove the saguaro. He did an inadequate assessment of the property and ordered a crane that was not big enough for the job. This crane would have to set up in my driveway over a concrete culvert running under the driveway. The reach of the crane was near the safety limit as the saguaro located on the other side of the house would have to be lifted over the house. The crane operator who came for the job was not confident, was uneasy, that the smaller crane could safely lift the 9000 lb. saguaro over the house. He also was uneasy about setting up over the culvert. I was told they could use the smaller crane but would not accept any liability if the culvert was damaged. If it was damaged, I couldn’t use my driveway until repaired at my cost. So I insisted, at the advice of the crane operator, on a larger crane. The larger crane cost $3200 versus $700 for the smaller. They removed the saguaro with the larger crane with no issues. The crane operator, same guy as original, stated it was a good thing that I insisted on the larger crane. He didn’t think he could have done the work with the smaller crane. My complaint #1 is I had to pay the $700 for the smaller crane even though it was not used. Complaint #2 - only 2 trees were treated with fertilizer. Complaint #3 – cleanup after the tree trimming was inadequate. I had to rake the area after they left to remove all the debris. Complaint #4 – I sent an email to the company complaining about the crane cost and fertilizer, requesting an explanation on the costs. No one ever replied to my email even though the aborist who wrote the contract said he would have the office do that. I would not recommend Chips Tree Service to anyone.
