Chip Off The Old Block

Chip Off The Old Block provided excellent service. On Wednesday, Pete came to our home to give us an estimate for the removal of 6 existing trees. He arrived on time and the estimate only took a about 15 minutes. Pete told me the cost and said that the work could be scheduled for the next day. The price was right and I was impressed with how quickly they could get the work completed. I had a call later that afternoon as to the timeframe for the next day and then had a call the next morning as to the specific time. This was nice so that I didn't need to wait around all day. I knew exactly what time they would be arriving. The crew was professional and went quickly to work. The 6 trees were removed including the stumps being grind down in an hour and a half. They cleaned up the debris from the backyard and my yard looked cleaner after they were finished than it did before they began the work. I would use Chip Off The Old Block again and I highly recommend their services!

I called COTOB for an estimate to remove a mesquite. they tree, The quote of $250 was a vey good price, so I gave them the go ahead. They showed up the next day and took 30 min and cleaned up all of the wood chips. They were very professional. and I was well satisfied.

. The four man team were VERY NICE. However the office staff did not respond to my HOA's regulations. They were supposed to come Tuesday afternoon. TWO times I told the office that the HOA will not let them in after 4p.m. with work completed by 5p.m. The girl promised they would come after 12p.m. and I stayed in all afternoon. At 3:55p.m. Tuesday I got a call the crew were not coming. I wasted my whole afternoon waiting for them to show up. They did the work on Wed. morning and on Thursday morning I got a call that my credit card was denied. The office probably put in the wrong number. In conclusion I have recommended them two times and I hope my neighbors have a good experience.

The guys who came out was timely, efficient, skillful, and responsive. The price was really competitive.

The came the morning after my call and scheduled the work for a day after that. How is that for responsiveness? I can't say that they saved my life, but they did indeed saved the closing of my house sale.

I love them! I found them on Angie's List. It was an excellent job. What I was impressed most was the initial treatment was a year previous. They called a year later saying it has been a year and asked if we want our trees deep fed again, and that they will honor the same price they did last year. I actually found them on one of Angie's List super deals.

The team that removed the tree were here and efficiently removed the tree in a less than 20 mins and their estimator quoted us also for stump grinding and there was no stump the entire root ball came up with the tree and it took quite some back and forth to solve the issue of which we were credited with $25.00.

Crew arrived on time. Introduced themselves and explained what they would be doing. Got to work straight away. The job was completed in no time at all. The trees looked lovely when they had finished and the yard was clean and tidy. I would highly recommend.

Our tree had an unsightly hole on one side. Chip off the Block cleaned out all of the exposed dead wood, and generally cleaned up the tree making it just as beautiful as it had once been. We also had work done in the back yard where the utility company had basically shaved off the tops of 2 trees, and on the process had caused a couple of dangerous cracks in some limbs. Once again with skill and concern for the trees' appearance they made everything look great. I would not hesitate to hire them again in the future. I cannot thank the crew enough for their courteousness, and cleanup off all debris. Thanks again!!!!

Look no further! Truly excellent service that exceeded our expectations. Initial consultation/quote on Saturday. Work performed two days later. They were quick and efficient and cleaned up far more than I would have expected. Would not hesitate to use them again. We have already recommended them to our neighbors.

The arborist came and looked at the sick mulberry tree and overgrown grapefruit tree. Told me what he recommended for both (I knew the tree had to come down as it had rotting branches). That same day he sent a 3 man crew that did a great job of cutting down the tree and pruning and removing dead wood from the fruit tree. They removed all the debris before they left. They were done in about 2 hours maximum. The following morning another man came and did a great job of grinding down the stump and cleaning up all the debris. The price of $500 for both was much less than I previously paid to have one tree removed several years ago. The only thing that could be improved is if the arborist was there when the crew members arrived so he tell them first hand what needed to be done. The crew had to go by what he had written on the invoice and on what I passed on. I would definitely hire them again.

Two very high branches broke during the last wind storm and I didn't notice it for almost a week later. I called Chip Off The Old Block and Jack came out a few hours later. He assessed the problem and made suggestions on how to balance the tree once the damaged limbs were removed. He said they had a crew that could stop by later in the afternoon to do the work. A little pricey but there was an Angie's List coupon for 10%. I wasn't home when the work was performed. The tree looks a bit bare now because of the trimming required to balance it but I'm certain it'll fill out in no time. Other than the trimmed tree I could see no other evidence that the crew was here. They did a very good job cleaning up.

After seeing they had such a high review on AngiesList, I gave them a try on one tree that needed pruning back. They showed up when they said they would, did the job, and held to their price and promise of quality. I then used them for another job at another house and once again I was extremely pleased at how efficient their communication was, their crew showed up when promised, the job was done as agreed, and the price was right.

Very satisfied with the service. Would highly recommend.

This company, by far, was the most reasonably priced and most knowledgeable out of the 3 that we interviewed. They were prompt, professional and gave many good suggestions regarding upkeep of our trees and bushes. They were very thorough, and when they came back about 1 week later for the final inspection, they found a couple more items that needed to be addressed, and promptly completed them. It was a pleasure to work with Jack Herndon, due to the quality and reliability of his company's work. We have all ready recommended him to neighbors.

The crew that removed the trees was efficient and professional. They were obviously skilled and were excellent at cleaning up after themselves. Even the stump grinding was well done with little leftover mess. When I asked them to come out and grind a bit deeper because I wanted to replant new trees in the same spot, they came out and did it. The estimator (Jack Herndon) was a great resource and is an arborist and knew how to treat my Tipuaa. I would definitely use these guys again.

Called the company left a message. They called my back I believe it was a day or two later set up a date. Very professional and punctual. The guy that came by and set it up was named Conrad. He was very nice, offered my some landscaping advice. The team showed up to cut the tree very professional and prompt. Then a couple hours later the same day the next team came to grind the stump. I didn't really go out and check the area until the next day. My landscaper was upset with me because he said the guys that cut the tree didn't do a good job cleaning up after themselves. He was angry because he had to clean it up. I didn't notice it myself but that is what my landscaper said. Over all I was pleased.

After getting several estimates for tree trimming services, I decided to go with this provider, as their rates were the most affordable. The company did a good job.

These folks are professional, fairly prompt in responding to our request for a bid, and on time for the job. There was either a disconnect in the communication between us and the arborist; or between the arborist (who was not on site during the job) and his crew. As we were also not on site when the crew was here, we were very distraught to come home and find that they had dramatically thinned out and cut back a tree that provided us enormous privacy & shade in our front yard. The change was over 50%. We expected that kind of dramatic change with the second tree we hired them to trim, but had been pretty explicit and about the first. The crew left debris in the yard, and a potentially dangerous stump behind in the ground. The ground was left looking pretty trampled. In fairness to them, the arborist came back out the next day to check out our complaints and discounted our bill. (We cancelled the feeding that was supposed to happen that day). They also did some more clean up and stump removal. But due to the dramatic reduction in privavcy to the rest of the yard, we had to hire a landscaper to come in two weeks later to do more remedial work. While supervising that, we saw how much of the tree trimmings had actually been left on top of (and under, and in) other bushes in the yard. Again, this company is responsive and wanted to make things right, but we will not try them a second time.

Did a good job. Some extended roots were still visible. Man stated that they were dead and would pull easily.

Within a day I had an arborist at my home and by the end of the day my tree was trimmed back from the property line and 8 foot taken off the top plus a thorough trimming to make it symmetrical. It looked very bare at first, but in the spring when it leafed out it was more beautiful than ever and was no longer a problem for my neighbor. My neighbor, by the way, split the cost of the trimming with me and loves the tree.

I called on Sept. 24th to set up a time for someone to come out and give me an estimate on removing my trees. They could have come out that day, but I scheduled it for the next day. They told me someone would be at my home to look at what I needed to have done between 2 and 5 on Sept. 25th. Donte arrived precisely at 2 p.m., looked at what I needed to have done, gave me an estimate, and some advice on another tree in my yard. On the 27th, I called Donte and told him I would like to have them come do the job, he said they could be out the next day to do the work. Because of other commitments, I asked for them to schedule me for Monday morning. A crew of 4 arrived at my door at 7:15 a.m. Gabriel came to the door and introduced himself, and made sure where their truck and chipper were parked was ok. The crew went out to my back yard, took a look at the 40 ft.+ tree that needed to come down, discussed their plan of action, and immediately got to work. By 9:20, they were done with all the work and cleanup and ready to leave. It was something to watch these guys work, and they did an awesome job. At 12:30 the man arrived to do the stump grinding, and he too did a great job. He was there for a little over an hour, and when he left, my yard looked great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone who needs trees removed.

Really professional. Very careful. I have some delicate landscaping under my mesquite tree and they had to trim limbs off of it, so I was worried that my plants would be stomped on... I didn't even have to say anything. The technicians carefully avoided stepping on any of my plants. (I was watching from the window and was so thankful). My trees are happy and so am I. This company is more than just a tree removal service. They are very good at caring for trees! YAY.

Excellent. There were a few other weeks in the yard, and the technician got rid of them, which was not a part of the agreement. I call that going above and beyond.
