Original installation in Nov. 2005 seemed to go OK, though I didn't like the fact that the heavy unit was *carried* by one person from their van to the site. Subsequent problem may have been due to dropping the unit somewhere before installation. One year later unit failed to heat (Dec 2006). Found crack in discharge tube. This required welding of crack and subsequent recharging of system. It seems likely that the unit was damaged after leaving the factory and before installation.They had the nerve to charge me $190 for the coolant, saying the warranty included parts and labor but the coolant fell under neither category. I could hardly believe my ears! I then appealed to a local York service manager of some sort (can't remember who exactly) and they refunded me a small fraction of the $180.00, about $80.00 as I recall. They said they were 'trying for more' but of course no more ensued. Meanwhile wifeand I half-froze to death. The unit at this point works but not efficiently. As an engineer I am aware of the problems involved in this repair regimen. Was the weld 100%? Was the system fully evacuated before recharging? This is a long process if done properly and I have my suspicions. Probably the system needs to be properly evacuated and recharged to effect full efficiency. As I said, this activity took place over 8 years ago and judging from the other reviews they seemingly have gotten their act together. Still, I'm reluctant to use them again and can't recommend them.
Description of Work: Provided new York 4 ton heat pump, soon afterwards had to service it. WARNING: this report involves installation and subsequent service occurring in 2005 and 2006.

Description of Work: I asked Cactus Mechanical to come out to my home and give me an estimate to replace the duct work in our home. Their tech was about a half hour late for the appointment, but did call ahead to say that his early job was taking longer than expected and he would be late or need to reschedule. Once he arrived, he was courteous, took plenty of time to understand the scope of my project, and determine the necessary changes that needed to be made. He also made some suggestions that I had not considered, which I appreciated. The Cactus Mechanical estimate for my job was about 10% under the other competitive bid that I received, so I hire them to complete the job. They were able to start the job the following week, and completed it in two days. The three technicians that were here were clean cut, respectful, punctual and knew their work. They completed the job on time and with surprisingly little mess.

Pricing is very reasonable and customer service when calling the office is great. I will use Cactus again for future a/c servicing needs.

 + -1 moreCACTUS WAS A REFERRAL FROM ANOTHER HVAC COMPANY THAT I'D USED BEFORE AND TRUSTED, BUT COULDN'T SERVICE MY NEW GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION. I'M VERY IMPRESSED BY CACTUS' ETHICS AND PROMPTNESS. IT'S LIKELY THAT THE UNIT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS AND I WILL CALL CACTUS.
Description of Work: CALLED CACTUS FOR A SECOND OPINION AFTER RECEIVING A QUESTIONABLE SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS AND A RECOMMENDATION FOR A NEW COMPRESSOR OR A NEW SYSTEM FROM GOETTL. CACTUS FOUND A LOOSE WIRE AND REPLACED A BAD STARTER IN MY UNIT. RESULT WAS A 1300.00 SAVINGS.
