Benjamin Franklin Plumbing The Punctual Plumber

I have had issues with this type of Big Deal in the past. Before I made the purchase, I contacted the provider to see if they could service the type of unit I had and I was assured that they could. When the tech came out, he said that they in fact do not service the type of unit I have. I find this to be frustrating so I have contacted Angie's List in order to get a refund of the Big Deal purchase.

Technician was prompt, polite, and efficient. He explained how the water filter system worked and recommended annual maintenance.

I felt like Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - The Punctual Plumber was trying to upsell me on things I didn't need, and on the one project I needed done, they told me if it broke while they were working on it, I would have to take responsibility for it and it would end up costing me $200. I was not willing to pay this, and I'm now looking for a replacement deal on Angie's List.

The plumber who came from this provider arrived promptly and was most courteous and professional in his demeanor and work ethic. He promptly solved the issue (the pinhole leak in the water pipe which had caused us to turn off the water supply to the house) and replaced the garden hose spigot quickly and cleanly. He also suggested a couple of other items which could optionally benefit us by their replacement. It was obvious by his quick and clean work that he was more than prepared to do what needed to be done. No complaints about the work done or the time spent doing it. He cleaned up all debris created by the repair. My only discomfort was with the pricing. $221 to replace the garden house spigot and repair the pipe along with $123 to remove the stucco around the pipe to make room to do the repair. Even with the 5% discount coupon from Angies list the total was as shown above. It just seems a bit much. The price schedule is of course set by the owner.

They were excellent. They were punctual. The plumber that came was very knowledgable and personable. He had to come back a second day because he did not have the part on hand. The part was not a common part so there was no additonal fee for second trip. They also allow you to schedule their services online if needed.

The reverse osmosis system service was done well. The plumber was on time, courteous, completed the procedure timely and correctly, and left the area the way he found it. I had also asked, in advance, to have the plumber look at my gas water heater, since the pilot light wouldn't stay lit. I had this happen once before and was sure it was the same issue--the thermocouple needed to be replaced. The plumber checked the water heater and said that there was no gas going through the valve, so the valve had to be replaced, not the thermocouple. The cost would be nearly $500.00. He also started discussing the cost of a new water heater, given the high cost of the repair. I was sure that he was wrong, so I declined service on the water heater and contacted the company the next day and asked for someone else to come out. Another service call with another plumber was scheduled, and I was told that due to the problem with the first plumber, there would be no trip charge. After I provided a brief explanation, the second plumber confirmed my suspicion and replaced the thermocouple. The second plumber was on-site for 20 minutes, start to finish. A 24-inch thermocouple costs $8.00 at Lowe's. I was charged $120.00 for the visit by the second plumber (the reverse osmosis service was paid for separately). If I'd also had to pay the trip charge, the cost would have been that much higher. I completed a survey sent out by the company. Someone attempted to call me to discuss this experience, but when I tried to reach the person, I had to leave a voicemail and subsequently received no response.

I was not present during the repair, my wife was. She indicated that she was very satisfied with everything that was done and it was timely. My only concern was that the cost did not seem reasonable for the work done. My wife indicated the service person was present at our house for 1 to 1.5 hours. When I looked up the part cost it was between $50-$100 at most, out of a $516 bill. If I assume 50% markup on the parts, that would provide a Parts cost of ~ $150 on the high end leaving ~$350 for labor for 1.5 hours of work. The bill as provided to us did not seperate out parts and labor, It was shown as one lump sum amount. This seemed like an unreasonable amount to me. I contacted the service provider several times and was finally put in contact with the owner. When I asked for a breakdown of the costs so I could better understand the bill I did not get a clear answer. I was given answers like: "We have to keep a fully stocked stuck", "We have an office where we have employees to pay", ect. Then I was told that they have a "fixed" price for each service. The example I was provided is that the price does not change whether the service takes 1 hour or 5 hours. In my opinion that is a poor response because if the service person had taken 5 hours at my home I would not have had an issue in the first place. I equated this response to getting work done on my car. The mechanics always break down the cost in terms of Parts and Labor. If the mechanic had charged we $150 for parts and ~$350 in labor for a 1.5 hour repair this would not be acceptable. We all know mechanics are expensive, often as high as $80-$100 / hour. We also know the mechanic is not getting $80/hour, much of that is to pay for the overhead. This is understood and expected. I just request to charge me for the service I am provided, no more no less. In her defense, the owner did offer to refund my money if I was not satisfied, I believe this was a sincere gesture on her part. I chose to not accept that offer because I thought it more important to get this information out to the public. I fully understand the costs of doing business, but in my opinion this was quite excessive, I will leave it to the reader to decide for themselves. I can not in good conscience recommend this provider to others. Regards.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it went very well. The person who came out was most meticulous about the job and very eager to please. He was prompt, pleasant, explained things and I have no criticism at all. He was very good. My existing 15-year-old reverse osmosis unit was another brand and this plumber told me he could not get parts to service it because the company would not share them with plumbing companies. After discussing the condition of my unit, its age and my costs of operation I decided to purchase a new one. He put it in because the took the time to explain which part he could not put in the old one.

I was very pleased with this service. I found Benjamin Franklin Plumbers as a result of an Angie's List special offer sent to my "in box" the day after I made an appointment to change my reverse osmosis filters with the company who installed the system about a year ago. I spoke with the company who I had an appointment with who stated that Benjamin Franklin Plumbers was a "top notch" company and if they could do the work for the advertised price, I should purchase the coupon. Before purchasing the coupon I called Benjamin Franklin to ensure myself that the special price included my water system, as the company I scheduled to do the service would charge almost $40 more than the coupon price. Although Benjamin Franklin could not guarantee the price as they did not see my system, they assured me that their service would cover most of the systems that were on the market. We scheduled the appointment at a time that was convenient with my wife and I. The plumber arrived a bit early and although his office attempted calling me, they called my cellular telephone which was not turned on.They did not have my home telephone number, so I was surprised when he rang my doorbell. The plumber introduced himself, including his background and gave me a brief history of the company. The work was done well and without any issues. While at my home the plumber noticed that my dishwasher hose was not installed properly. He corrected the issue without any additional charge. We discussed a maintenance program, that if it where not for my homeowner insurance policy I would have purchased. Bottom line - I was more than pleased and would consider using them again should I require additional services (not covered by my current insurance policy).

Very positive experience. The appointment was easy to schedule, the technician, Juan, was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. I am very impressed with the quality and level of service and I will definitely use Ben Franklin Plumbing again!

Tech arrived in a timely manner and apparently didn't listen fully to the explanation of the problem because he was looking for immediate water loss and it didn't happen. He replaced the flapper and left. The problem was not fixed and he had to be called back the same day. He came back and this time cleared the toilet of a small clog that seems to have been causing the problem. He in fact mentioned that this was a possibility during the first visit. Problem resolved so far. He had to come back twice and we wasted the entire day waiting. The other incident involved simple installation of new bathroom sink fixtures and involved another repeat next day call due to the tech not installing them properly (leaking water). This is my second bad experience and I will not be using this company in the future.

It went fantastic! Thanks to the service person, Danny, for his expertise and kindness. He's a very knowledgeable plumber, and he cares about his customer.

They were okay. They pointed out a couple of things to me and that was nice.

I decided to not complete the service. The provider did nothing wrong, I just changed my mind and it isn't fair to ask for a refund just because I happened to change my mind. I will say the people I spoke to on the phone when setting an appointment were very nice and professional.

The appointment time was between noon and 4:00. They called at 2:30 to let me know the tech would arrive within a half hour. I was working from home and when he arrived I was on a conference call. I was able to quickly review what was needed, gave him access to the garage and he completed his outside work while I completed my call. He waited until I was done to replace the RO filters inside the house. When I told him each service he let me know what was covered by the annual inspection and gave me the cost for each extra service. There were no surprises when paying the final bill.

My experience went very well. The staff was professional and and friendly while visiting. They did have to come back 2 days later to do a repair but with no questions asked. I was pleased with the outcome of their services and would recommend this company to others.

They didn't show up on the scheduled time because of some error in their planning but had someone come as soon as they realized the mistake. Makes the "punctual" part of Punctual Plumber a bit questionable.

We have used Ben Franklin plumbing for a number of years. We use them for both our home in Glendale as well as my mom's home in Fountain Hills. In addition to flushing out our sewer line; over the years we have used them for the following: Replacement of hot water tanks for both homes Replacement of main shut off values for both homes Repaired water line leak at my mom's home. In addition to repairing the leak; they help coordinated the repair of the water-damaged wall and floor. General plumbing repairs In all cases, we've had very positive experience with them. They're prompt, experienced, clean and conscientious about their work. We've come to count on them for all our plumbing needs.

Very happy with work, would definately hire company again.

Fixed problem in timely and professional basis.

They found something wrong with all just about everything. this could be the case, but since the home was built in 96 and we have never had any plumbing issues I found this a bit far fetched. Even if there were plumbing issues the quoted costs for repair or replacement were down right silly.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. They called back quickly. Something strange happened the day or 2 after he left. We actually had a leak under one of our sinks. There was a leak in the backyard and he said if they go to a customer's backyard, they automatically have a fee of something like $500 and it was just too much. I did not want to have them with that $500 to do the backyard so I didn't pay more than the Big Deal. I had my landscaper come and fix it for $140. I probably will not use them again because the price is too high. I have another person for plumbing but when I saw that it was a special and I had a leak, I thought maybe I would have them take care of it.

Replaced the leaking front hose bib. When my next water bill arrived ( 2 weeks later) it was half the bill from the previous 5 months. Cost was a little high but it needed to be done.

The service provided to me by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing - The Punctual Plumber worked out fine. I thought he might have done something to my toilet, because he made some adjustments in there and we were having trouble with the toilet not filling up, but I think it's fixed now. I think he's trying to save water and something. Then, we actually inquired about having a fixture put it and we thought the price he quoted us was pretty outrageous. So, we didn't have him go ahead and do it. They were very professional. But I would not use them in the future because their prices are too high. But the service was good.
