They worked out just fine. I asked them to do extra so I was charged for that.
Description of Work: I used the Big Deal and plumbing service of Pipe Doctor Plumbing LLC. They installed a faucet and they fixed some plumbing...They installed a new one and replaced an old one. They replaced the hose from outside...it was not working properly; changed the valve in the bathrooms that were leaking, and changed the filters.

This deal was a slam-dunk. We had a faucet bib that was too close to the stucco (a horrible previous contractor) and Pipe Doctor explained all of the options, after which we chipped away at the stucco so they could install an extension and give me back a normal pipe / faucet. Very professional, easy to work with, and a year later the faucet is still fantastic. It reminds me that I should call these guys back because I need some more outside plumbing work...

Very Well Thank You! Nick Clark was awesome! He listened, made sure he understood all of our concerns, and did exactly what we wanted. He was knowledgeble, competent, fast, courteous, friendly, prompt, everything one could want from a contractor, and none of the stuff that usually makes dealing with contractors so loathsome. The price was very reasonable, the work exceeded expectations. In fact we need to get him out here again for other things. We will use Mr. Clark again for many reasons. One of the few people we have had out that did an exceptional job, and was thorough in his explanations. As an aside, I appreciated some insight into the business, and Nick was quite complimentary of the owner of Pipe Doctor. It was educational and refreshing. Many of us have no idea about how these businesses work. Good to know there are honest people still out there trying to do everyone right, both customers and employees. Super business. Cannot say enough good things about them.

I had them replace the main that controls the water to my home. The gentlemen that came did a brilliant job and was great, but the secretary, Jennifer, told me that I would have to pay for the service in full over the phone. I told her I paid Angie?s List already and she said that isn?t my problem then began demanding a credit card right away or they will come out there. Then the owner, Chris, shows up early the next day, banging on the door. I open the door and he?s ranting and raving about how he needs to know what work they did yesterday. He went on saying that it is his company and that he deserves to know what is going on with his company. That is a sign in itself. He refused to leave and when I tried close the door he wouldn?t let me. I eventually threatened to call the police and he finally left after ranting some more. After all this they ended up double billing me and haven't attempted to resolve the issue.

Nick was fantastic. We just purchased an old home in Phoenix and I realized at 9 AM that a copper pipe in the basement had sprung a leak. I called Pipe Doctor based on their Angie's List reviews and Wendy answered the phone. She was calm and patient and arranged for Nick to come out within the hour with no emergency service call charge. Nick replaced two long runs of corroded copper pipe quickly, efficiently, and for a very reasonable price. When I inspected his work at the end of the job, it was extremely high quality and well thought out. He cleaned up such that it looked like he hadn't even been there. Would definitely recommend Pipe Doctor for all plumbing jobs!

It turned out well. It turned out that the services that they provided in the big deal were slightly different than what I needed. It was for an installation of a disposal and what I needed was a hot water tank spigot and he said no problem and just changed the coupon. He did not charge me anymore and he was great. He was prompt and courteous. I would definitely use them again.

On September 25, 2013 I purchased a big deal of $69.00 to install a new kitchen faucet. Wendy from Pipe Doctor called within a day or two to schedule the install. I had not yet purchased the faucet and told her I would call back to schedule an appointment once I had the new fixture. Fast forward to November 12, 2013 with new faucet purchase in hand, I place my call to Pipe Doctor to now schedule a date and time. I left a message on Pipe Doctor's voicemail and received a call back from Wendy in less than 90 minutes. So happens they had a noon time slot available that very day. Chris showed up right on time and immediately went to work. The job was completed in under an hour. Happy, happy customer.

I purchased a new kitchen faucet that I wanted from Amazon because it costs the least that I could find. I then went to Angie's List to look for a plumber that would install it for me. This company had a $69 faucet installation deal, which they still have going on. I paid Angie's List for this deal and waited. They plumbers called and made an appointment and came out. They said there would be an additional $6 fee to install a "T" bracket to hold it in place. That is exactly what I wanted to hear because our old faucet was extremely loose and I figured the previous plumber had not done anything to insure it stayed in place. So, now we have our new faucet and it is very tight and isn't going anywhere. I'm very happy.

After we went to your address which was not a residence, as you stated when you scheduled, and you were not there; we called and you told us to go back to the business and wait for you as you were not there yet. Our tech spent over an hour trying to actually get you at the location you specified. When you arrived and outlined the work that you wanted performed; it was apparent that the work could not be accomplished without shutting down the water to the whole strip mall. Since there was no safety or property damage occurring due to the services you requested; we told you that we had to have permission from the property manager or owners to shut down the entire strip mall's water. It was not disinterest in you project; it was a legal requirement to notify the actual owner's of the property that is required before we can shut off all the other tenants water supply during business hours for non emergency services. This was all explained to you at the time Nick was at the site to do the work. It is a shame that you would give us a C rating when we spent over an hour and a half with you at no cost to you! All that was required for you to do was coordinate with the property managers/owners to allow us to schedule a water shut down that would not disrupt the other tenants. We never received a call back to schedule a tech when you had contacted the property manager/owner to do the work; just a C rating for all the unpaid help and advice we gave you.I'm sorry you were unable to appreciate the great service that we gave you.

Never followed through with a bid! Came to my house, seemed interested in the job but never followed through with a bid. I lost a week waiting for his bid. I called his office twice and they promised to get the bid to me - but they never did. To make things worse, he referred a "friend" to do another part of the remodel (Bob from Compass Stone). Bob came to my house, seemed interested in the job and ALSO never followed through with a bid. I also called him twice and nothing. These contractors need to have the courtesy to call and let customers know if they are not interested in a job. It's very rude not to.

We called Pipe Doctor on the morning of 10/11 (as soon as we received a warranty replacement part from the manufacturer) and asked if they could send someone out that day. Even though they were booked up, they promised to send someone out by 5:00 pm so we wouldn't have to go without hot water over the weekend. Unfortunately, the technician ran into problems on the job before ours and called to reschedule for 6:30-7:00 pm. It was about 7:45 pm when he got to our house and he was able to quickly replace the thermostat without having to drain the water heater. Even though I rated them a B for Punctuality (since technically they were late), I don't fault the company or technician for this. We were just happy that we didn't have to wait until Monday to have hot water! We had used Pipe Doctor before to repair a reverse-osmosis unit and would definitely use them again.

Our water softener broke at 4am on 10/2/13. I called Pipe Doctor at 6:14am and left a message because they were on the Direct Buy preferred vendor list. Chris Rusnell called back at 8:21am for details. He requested photos of the unit, which I emailed that morning. He was to call back that afternoon, but did not. I called back at 7:13pm and got voice mail. I called again at 10:07am on 10/3/13. He said he had gotten busy and forgot to look at my email or call me back. We discussed installing the system he had through Direct Buy. He said it wasn't a good system and suggested his proprietary system that was similar to H2O concepts, Kinetico, and the like, but that he would not honor the Direct Buy preferred pricing for members. He said everyone loved these systems and he only had to remove one because the water was extremely hard. He went on to say the system was maintenance free. I've heard this before and asked what the REAL maintenance was. I knew the media had to be replaced and carbon filter would need replacement, which are maintenance. He gave verbal info, but provided no written documentation at that time. I told him we had very hard water in my area. He said this system would work for us. We agreed and he immediately charged my credit card $1,800 for the unit. We had the system installed on 10/4/13. When Nick, his plumber, arrived he had a third filter with him that Chris had never mentioned. I called Chris at 4:21pm requesting a call back. His plumber received a call 5 minutes later, but we did not hear from Chris. On 10/5 I called at 2:18pm and again got voice mail. I also had sent him email, which he did not respond to. On Monday, 10/7, my credit card was charged the remaining $400 for tax and installation of the system. On Tuesday, 10/8, Chris called me at 10:56am telling me of his problems with a broken down truck and how busy he was. I told him we were not happy with the quality of the water. The taste was fine, but texture was extremely hard. We requested the system be removed and our money refunded. On Wednesday, 10/9 Chris had Bob with the media manufucturer call me. Chris had informed Bob that we did not understand how the product works. I told Bob this was not true. We fully understand how it works, we are not happy with the feel of the water. Bob said he would tell Chris and ask him to call me. Later that afternoon I received a call from Chris' supplier at Wood Brothers who said Chris asked him to call and explain to me how the system works. I again stated that we were not pleased with the how the water feels having gone from soft water to conditioned water and wanted the system removed and our money refunded. He said he would relay this to Chris and have him call me. Chris has not called back or answered my emails. The quality of water is not acceptable to us because we have very hard water. Chris has had suppliers and manufacturers call me, but refuses to take my call, answer my emails or make any attempt to resolve the problem in a professional manner. Beware of this company, its owners and employees. We will never recommend Chris Rusnell or Pipe Doctor. Chris has shown he is unwilling to resolve problems and provide any customer service. Extremely unprofessional is the best comment I can make for this company, specifically Chris Rusnell. I have notified Direct Buy of our experience with Pipe Doctor and how this was mishandled by Chris. I don't think he is on their preferred vendor list any more. We trusted that since Pipe Doctor was on the Direct Buy vendor list and he had no current complaints with the ROC that he was a reputable vendor. Our trust was misplaced. Wendy in his office is unable to provide any assistance and refuses to take calls or return messages. I can only assume that her behavior is at the direction of Chris. This is very disappointing behavior for a person who supposedly is trying to grow a reputable business. When I mentioned to his plumber Nick during the installation that it was difficult to reach Chris, he stated sometimes he doesn't see or hear from Chris for days and he's his plumber! I again left a message for Chris on 10/10 for a return call to resolve the issue. Since I have not heard back I felt it was necessary to inform others of my experience with Pipe Doctor and Chris Rusnell. UPDATE: Buyer Beware! Read Pipe Doctor's Facebook page to see the true Chris Rusnell. This is to advise anyone considering Pipe Doctor or Chris Rusnell for plumbing service to disregard the A rating on Angie's List. This is a very misleading measure for this company. Bad reviews can be bought off by a company in order to have good reviews remain. This is what Chris wanted to do to resolve our issue--replace a piece of equipment we were extremely unhappy with for a different piece of equipment costing less than half of what he had already installed. This "offer" came on October 29th via the dispute process, 3 weeks after the last conversation with Chris. He had told his supplier on October 8th he was looking into replacing his proprietary SRS system with a regular water softener for us, but Chris never contacted us to resolve the issue. There was no offer to replace the equipment and/or refund any of our money. There was no call, personal visit or even an email offering to resolve this matter. Instead he chose to have Angie's List be his only source of communication. There are other current reviews on Angie's List commenting again on Pipe Doctor not returning calls, etc. In his response to Angie's List dispute, he states his "excellent customer service and follow up including prompt follow up with customer's concerns going above and beyond selling and installing to educating and even contacting other manufacturer's to see if there was something "missing" in our customer service or products to appease [member name removed] unreasonable requests." I only wish he had shown any customer service, excellent or otherwise, and prompt follow up instead of requiring me to repeatedly call, leave messages and send emails. He has indicated in his dispute response that my calling for him to return my calls was verbally abusive and insulting. Leaving a message for Chris Rusnell is now being verbally abusive and insulting. How do you conduct business if you don't respond to calls or requests for information? What is abusive or insulting? It's important for everyone to know exactly how this company operates. Be aware that Chris Rusnell represents himself as being a service provider for Direct Buy, which is how I initially learned of him. I found out after my problems began with Pipe Doctor that the company had been removed from Direct Buy's provider list in the Spring of 2013 for pricing issues according to my member club's owner. Chris, in his dispute response, stated: "... Direct Buy (a premium membership buying club of which Pipe Doctor Plumbing is a service provider)." He continues to misrepresent himself and affiliation with Direct Buy. The SRS system was poorly installed with flex tubing instead of rigid copper lines. The valves could be spun with one finger because they were not hand tight, as required for installation. This presented a bigger problem. After the system would have built up pressure the valves would explode. Thankfully we found Rapid Rooter through Direct Buy who installed a new softwater system for us on October 14th. They also discovered our old system had not failed. The drain line had separated causing the flood that started this whole chain of events. Had Chris made and kept his appointment for October 3rd, he would have found the problem. Instead he was only focused on making the sale. Chris' system was used for a miserable 10 days. If this warning saves one person from the mistake we made trusting and choosing Pipe Doctor Plumbing, it will be worth the $2,200 it cost us for a huge paperweight sitting in our garage. Again, buyer be ware of how this company operates.
Description of Work: Installed water conditioner system. UPDATE: I filed a dispute with my credit card company the end of October. On November 12, 2013, my full purchase price was returned. We have never heard back from Chris Rusnell or anyone from Pipe Doctor. Be very cautious of using this vendor. UPDATE: Chris Rusnell did not respond to phone calls or emails seeking information after the sale of his proprietary water conditioning system. He chose to ignore the problem assuming it would go away instructing his office manager, Wendy, to no longer take calls or respond to messages. He went as far as to have vendors and suppliers contact me instead of resolving the issue himself. His unprofessional handling of this situation and creative writing leaving out key facts in responding to the Angie's List dispute speak volumes for this person and his company.

Response from AZs Best Pipe Doctor Plumbing LLC
[member name removed] In response to Angie's List review dated 10 October 2013. [member name removed]has shopped our company since at least August 2012 for water filtration and tankless water heaters (email quotes from earlier correspondence available upon request). [member name removed]' did leave a message on Wednesday 2 October 2013 prior to our normal business operations hours (M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM). [member name removed]neglected to call the 24 hour emergency number for an immediate response to her water softener issue. Her phone call was returned right after receiving her message sometime before 8:30 AM on the morning of Wednesday 2 October 2013. During that phone conversation she specifically wanted to remove her salt based water softener and replace it with a water filtration system that would, "not use any salt and would remove the chlorine from the water". During this conversation [member name removed] asked about the water systems sold by Direct Buy (a premium membership buying club of which Pipe Doctor Plumbing is a service provider). I let her know that Pipe Doctor Plumbing was not a provider of these products but in fact only an installer for Direct Buy and couldn't give her a definitive answer as to wether the systems sold through Direct Buy were good or bad systems as I explained that water treatment systems and their products were a very subjective experience and that what was desired by one client was often times despised by another client so the choice was up to the purchaser as to what they wanted. I explained that I had a degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor and am familiar with many different types of water treatment modalities and knew what many of them offered and would be glad to help educate her as to what each of the systems offered so that she could make an educated choice as to which system made the most sense to her for her desires. I also explained that if I did not have an answer for her that I would be glad to research for her any system that she was interested in and provide her with as best an explanation and comparison as I could so that she could make an educated choice for which ever system she desired (even if it were not from a Pipe Doctor Plumbing). She asked specifically about both Kinetico and H2O Concepts both of which she explained were very costly and of which I am very familiar. After I explained in detail how both systems worked it was clear that their premium price was beyond her means. During my explanation of both systems I mentioned my involvement with both Eco-Smarte (as an installer) and Chlorine Free Water Systems (as a consultant to the developer of that system and installer) and how they were similar and different to each other in how they worked. [member name removed] asked about the price of these systems and was again disappointed they they were both beyond what she wanted to spend on a water treatment system. It was then that I mentioned the SRS (Scale Reduction System) system that we are selling made locally by Wood Brothers (from Lincoln Nebraska). When I explained that it used no salt; would remove all the chlorine; not require a backwash, drain or electricity and cost only $1,800.00 (plus tax and installation); [member name removed] decided right then and there to purchase the SRS system from Pipe Doctor Plumbing (manufactured by Wood Brothers). I explained (in front of Wendy my office manager) the details of the system's maintenance requirements including the necessity of replacing the particle filter, carbon and Filtersorb SP-3 Media and the scheduled costs associated with each based upon the manufacturer's recommendations. [member name removed] wanted the system to be installed as soon as possible and offered to make the deposit required to purchase the system and schedule the installation as soon as possible. Pipe Doctor Plumbing was extremely busy as we explained to [member name removed] (due to two of the three trucks having previously scheduled maintenance repairs at that time) and tried to accommodate [member name removed]' schedule to the best or our abilities with an install scheduled for Friday 4 October 2013 at 2:30 PM. Our technician Nick installed the system and left [member name removed] with the bill (for the remaining agreed to $400.00 for tax and installation) and Wendy processed the balance due (per the contracted price of $2,200.00) on 7 October 2013. As I mentioned we were extremely busy and tried to accommodate [member name removed] who emailed me on Friday 2 October 2013 at 6:22 PM asking if we had, "any luck determining what could be wrong with our softener? If you can come by tomorrow, please let me know so that I can schedule to work from home (copy of email available upon request)." This was emailed on a Friday night an hour and twenty two minutes after business hours for Pipe Doctor Plumbing. On Monday 7 October 2013 [member name removed] card was charged (as agreed) for the remaining balance of $400.00 for the installation and taxes. As I stated earlier we were very busy and trying to catch up with 2/3 of occur trucks down the previous week and had only gotten to respond to emails on Tuesday 8 October 2013 and called [member name removed] back to answer her concerns. During this call [member name removed] explained that she was very happy with the quality of the taste and smell of the water but that she and her husband had to use much more soap, shampoo and lotion than they were accustomed to when they had the original salt based water softener and that she had seen a virtually identical system from Watch Water company that had a fourth component that ours was missing that would "inject" some unknown substance into the water and that she thought that that would make the SRS System installed work to their satisfaction. Being unfamiliar with a consumable that would be "injected" into the water and interested in answering the customer's concerns; I called Watch Water Company in Largo Florida and was able to reach the owner Bobby Papplos. Mr. Papplos was extremely informative and explained that he was the sole importer of the Filtersorb SP3 media for the entire United States and that it was not unusual for there to be an actual increase in the calcium and magnesium content of the water treated with his media for at least 3-4 weeks after installation on an older home as the system descales all the existing calcium and magnesium deposits deposited by the water prior to the SRS installation and that after the initial descaling that he system would prevent new scale formation in the plumbing system and was so generous as to call my client [member name removed]to explain these subtleties to her so that she would realize that the SRS system was in deed releasing more calcium and magnesium form the plumbing system and would soon (3-4 weeks out) be reducing calcium and magnesium from the water. In addition Mr. Papplos explained that he did not use any other "injected" media as the newest formulation of Filtersorb SP-3 media did not require the "injected" media and both the injectable media and the pump used for the same were ONLY used on well water and no longer required since the reformulation of the Filtersorb SP-3 media. Mr. Papplos called [member name removed] within a few minutes of our conversation (approximately 45 minutes after [member name removed] told Pipe Doctor Plumbing of her desire to use the "injected" media found in the Watch Water system manufactured by Mr. Papplos) and explained all of this to [member name removed]. Per Mr.Papplos [member name removed] was "happy with the taste and smell of the water but really wanted the "slippery" feeling of the water that she had with her salt based softening system that she had previously." Mr. Papplos explained that the "scaly" feeling that she describe would soon stop as the descaling process cleared the last of the pre-existing accumulated calcium and magnesium was removed by the SRS system and that then the calcium and magnesium levels of the water would decline to below untreated water and protect the plumbing system from building up any further deposits. Mr. Papplos told me that [member name removed] was very concerned that her husband was unhappy with her purchase and really wanted to have the "slippery" feeling that they were used to when they had a salt based softener and advised that if she wouldn't wait for the SRS system to reach an endpoint to it's descaling before switching to an alternative that Pipe Doctor Plumbing should offer to replace the SRS system with another Pipe Doctor Plumbing provided salt based water softener so that she could get the "slippery" feeling that the original softener afforded before [member name removed] decided to change to the SRS system. As to the rest of [member name removed] allegations regarding Wendy's, "inability to provide any assistance" ; Nick's (our installer's) statement that, "sometimes he doesn't see or hear from Chris for days..."; [member name removed] is just distorting the facts again. In fact [member name removed] was verbally abusive to Wendy who simply refused to take another insulting call from [member name removed]and Nick has worked for Pipe Doctor Plumbing in the past and move to California (with our blessings) to try to be closer to his child who resides there and after a few years decided to come back to Pipe Doctor Plumbing as it was the "best company that he ever worked for" and hated to be "a salesman for overpriced merchandise to people who couldn't afford it" and liked Pipe Doctor Plumbing better because it was all about education for the consumer to allow them to choose what would best fit their needs and not because he was a commissioned salesman looking for a better payday. That is how we (Pipe Doctor Plumbing) do business and [member name removed] buyer's remorse and is no reason to throw Wendy or Nick under the bus. Pipe Doctor Plumbing and they have offered and provided great education and choices and provided excellent customer service and follow up including prompt follow up with customer's concerns going above and beyond selling and installing to educating and even contacting other manufacturer's to see if there was something "missing" in our customer service or products to appease [member name removed] unreasonable requests. To date the manufacturer, supplier and installers of this SRS system have gone above and beyond to address all of [member name removed]' concerns except that of buyer's remorse. This is not under the control of Pipe Doctor Plumbing and should not therefore be a basis for [member name removed]' distortion of facts to coerce Pipe Doctor Plumbing through threats of a bad Angie's List review to return her entire purchase price to remove a used system performing, as advertised, because she made a choice to purchase a system that she was not quite sure of after the fact. Based upon the SRS system being installed and used; it is no longer returnable (since it is working as both the manufacturer and supplier have both ascertained) and despite [member name removed] unreasonable requests; Pipe Doctor Plumbing is willing to offer [member name removed] the option to remove the SRS system and replace it with a salt based softener as she had before it originally failed so that she can get the "slippery" feeling that she had before she chose to purchase the SRS system at no charge if and only if she removes the unfair rating she has alleged to Angie's List or any other consumer complaint agency.

They were great. What I liked was that the guy was very professional, prompt, and got the work done. Something I was not happy about was that because he was there to do something specific, he wasn’t very helpful in troubleshooting. There was a problem with the old faucet and I wasn’t sure if just replacing it would solve the problem. He could not help me with that.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal from them to replace a faucet.

This was a promotional offer on Angie's List. As it turned out the promotion was only for the type of bathroom faucets and the water outlet are all mounted together as one unit. This wasn't discovered until the technician came out to the house to do the work. It was never mentioned in the promotional offer, it was never asked or explained by the person I spoke to in the office when I made the appointment after purchasing the "offer". I had the style where each faucet was it's own unit independent of each other and the faucet itself. The technician explained the difference. Rather than press the issue I went ahead with the work with the technician performing in a very expert and workman like manner. Prompt, timely and didn't leave any kind of mess or debris to be cleaned up. Aside from the pricing discrepancy, which I genuinely didn't feel was any kind of a game, I was very pleased with The Pipe Doctor.
