I had some minor water damage during a major storm. I went through my insurance company, and they scheduled for American Technologies to come out on an emergency service call.
The damage happened on Monday. American Technologies came to my house on a Friday. I understand that it was a very damaging storm, but I was still charged hundreds of dollars for emergency services despite several days having passed.
When the techs arrived, they were unable to provide me with any estimate of the cost, and simply told me that I would pay them my deductible and sign over any check from my insurance company. At the time, they indicated that the cost would likely be nowhere near my deductible, but weren't able to give me anything in writing.
They removed about 102 square inches of wet drywall and left a dehumidifier and a fan over the weekend. For these services, which took little more than 90 minutes total to complete, they sent an invoice for almost the exact amount of my deductible (which they had been told by my insurance company).
I was charged $50 for them to move my furniture out of the room, which they did not do. I was charged $50 for a 1/2 truckload of debris removal. I was charged for 8 hours of work, of which 1.5 were performed. I was charged almost $300 for an "emergency" call that was serviced 4 days after the emergency.
When I called to speak with a project manager, he accused me of lying about the work they didn't perform, and then insisted that "drive time" was included in the labor charges.
I refused to allow them to perform any more work. In the end, I had no choice but to pay them in full when they threatened to place a lien on my house. $1000 to remove some wet drywall is highway robbery. The invoice was clearly padded to the exact amount of my insurance deductible.
This is a company that has no qualms over taking advantage of a new homeowner's naivety. American Technologies sounds patriotic, but these people have zero integrity.

The project went very well from the start to the finish. If something was not quite right, they were willing to redo anything that was in question. We had a lot of damage because of water on our wood floors and kitchen. When They were done, the work was professional and showed a great deal of quality.
I had concerns about cost and the project manager and project superintendent were with us and provided us with detail and explanations about our questions. The end result was a very well done project and a house that looked just like new.
It took three months, but it was worth it and we could not be more pleased. I would give American Technology Incorporated and our Insurance company an A grade for the services that they provided.

Read above: everything went perfectly. It took over three months.. From start to finish: a shower head was left on full force for more than two weeks by the person "looking after" the house. The drain in the shower was closed and the water entered the master bedroom, master bath, closet, adjacent office and guest bath. ADT handled everything and their estimates for furniture replacement were accurate.
