They were honest. They were punctual. He did his job. It was a good experience. They were thorough but very efficient as well. They were very nice. They were giving me a lot of good advice and were very informative. I was very happy with the service and am happy to recommend them.
Description of Work: They did an inspection to be sure that I didn't have termites. Treated all around the outside so that I won't get them. I also got 10 year warranty.

Action Termite Control quoted me $795 for a home inspection and house treatment. Over the phone I explained that I had already found termites and was expecting that they'd still have to come out to inspect and then to reschedule to treat. No wasting time with Action Termite. Jason scheduled the treatment to be performed within days. The process was fast and the service was great.

At Christmas I noticed a termite tunnel inside my sister's house. I got 3 estimates for termite treatment. Then I received an email from Angie's List for a whole house termite treatment with a 10 year warranty for an incredible price. Since we had already had 3 estimates the fine people at Action Termite Control did the inspection and treatment at the same time. So it wasn't a 2 trip job. They did a great job. They were prompt and courteous and did not leave a mess behind. i would highly recommend them to anyone needing a termite treatment.

The representative, Jeremy, came very promptly, when scheduled, and seemed very knowledgeable and very polite, when evaluating what action we needed to rid our home of termites. The technicians, Ryan Long, and John, were also very knowledgeable and polite. We will gladly pay the yearly inspection fee of $49.00 a year and keep our eyes open for any termite signs. One of the reasons we liked the Thermidor treatment is the 10 year warranty. We would definitely recommend Action Termite Control to our friends and family living in Arizona.

ly minir issue I had was they did not tell me I needed to move stuff in my garageWe saw a $749 Thermidor treatment deal on Angie's List. We called the provider before buying it and asked if our 2900 sq. ft. home would be covered since the as limited to 2500 sq. ft. They sent out someone to inspect and verify we needed the treatment and when he was here he said it would be no problem at all since we have a two story and the footprint was not any larger than a 2500 sq. ft. house. After he was here I bought the deal and they came just a few days later to do the treatment. The only minor issue I had was they did not tell me I would need to move stuff in my garage so they could drill to put the stuff in. Thi only affected two spots in the garage and he also was putting material outside the garage so did not feel it was an issue. So he just skipped those spots. I would use them again.

Termites inside. Called on Wednesday to say yes do the treatment. Ryan arrived Thursday to trench and do full drill treatment. They were on time, neat, clearly communicated what was done and cleaned up after themselves. There is 10 yr warranty with a $100 yearly rate fee. Time will tell if termites are gone.
Description of Work: Called Action Termite as we saw their rating on Angie's List and they had a coupon. Mike came out inspectedvinside and outside locating 2 mud tubes inside which we were aware and one outside. He provided 2 estimates, one using coupon and one with full drill. Hired them for full drill.

The 10 year warranty makes this a good deal as many termites shops will sell you an annual warranty. The termites always come back so a warranty is important.
Description of Work: Angie's list special includes 10 year warranty. Full house termite treatment. Termites did come back in December( or never went away in the first place) but the Action came out and re-treated a small area in the garage.

Beginning from where I left off in the previous section, I was not able to look at the email attachment until this weekend, nor to do more research on Termidor. After doing these things--and going back and carefully reading the Angie's List Deal again--I have some reasonable questions and concerns that I (as I mentioned above) am very hopeful of resolving with this company so that we can do business. First, Mike's emailed documentation included three forms after the first page, which included a photo of the entryway to my house from the driveway. This is the only photo in the .pdf and does not show any termite areas. It seems only to identify the house from the driveway. The first form is titled "Finding Pictures" and is completely blank other than my personal information at the top. The second form is titled "Wood Destroying Organisms Structural Treatment Proposal" that is completely blank other than Mike's signature at the bottom and my information at the top. It is not dated. It includes the following sections for: 1. "Written description of Evidence of Damage or Infestation" 2. "TREATMENT [Options--these each have a box to check but nothing is checked] Preventative (no observed evidence) Pre-treat (5 year warranty) Corrective Spot Treatment Alternative Treatment Active Infestation (no warranty) Evidence Presumptive of Infestation" 3. "TREATMENT OPTIONS [again, each with a box to check but nothing is checked] Trench and rod treat soil Foam all activity Drill areas of activity Drill patios Drill garage Drill exterior stem wall Drill interior stem wall" 4. "ORGANISM TO CONTROL [more boxes but nothing is checked] Subterannean Termites Drywood Termites Dampwood Termites Carpenter Ants Wood-destroying Beetles Wood-destroying Insects Other" 5. "PESTICIDE/AGENT/DEVICE USED [more boxes but nothing is checked] Termidor HE Termidor HP Advance TBS Dominion 2L RED RIVER WDG Other" 6. "COST OF TREATMENT" [there are several options and varied warranty lengths, but nothing is checked; there is, however, a typed "$0.00" at the bottom of this section] The third form is this contract [again, all blank, even though it has my information at the top and he has signed it at the bottom: "COVERAGE: For a period of [left blank] year(s), beginning on the Effective Date shown above, ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC agrees to provide the necessary service and treatment for the control of the above-described wood destroying organisms for the Covered Premises for the sum of $ [left blank] , payable upon completion. In addition, ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC warrants that while this Agreement is in effect, it will perform any further retreatment it finds necessary, free of charge, subject to the Conditions of Coverage. RENEWAL:The term of this agreement is for a period of year(s), but may be renewed by the Customer on an annual basis at the discretion of ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC. Renewal would be contingent upon satisfactory re-inspection of the Covered Premises by ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC for compliance with the conditions of Coverage and payment of a $ [left blank] renewal fee. ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to change the annual renewal fee after the first year, to refuse to renew any Customer?s warranty and/or to terminate this Agreement if the Conditions of Coverage are not satisfied. The Customer is not obligated to renew this Agreement beyond the term of this agreement. This Agreement automatically terminates at the end of each year if the Customer elects not to renew. RE-INSPECTION:While this Agreement is in effect, ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC will re-inspect the Covered Premises in conjunction with renewal or upon reasonable request of Owner. CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY: At Customer?s request, ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC will provide information about the chemicals to be used in treating the Covered Premises. If you or any member of your household are or may be sensitive to chemicals or chemical odors, you should consult with your physician before chemicals are applied in, on, around or under the Covered Premises. NOTICE TO SIGNER 1. You are entitled to a copy of this Agreement at the time you sign it. 2. Do not sign this Agreement before you read all pages thoroughly. 3. If ACTION TERMITE CONTROL, LLC does not complete the initial treatment, then this agreement shall be deemed null and void and any sums paid will be returned to the Customer. 4. Buyer's right to cancel: You, the Buyer, may cancel this transaction at any time prior to the Date of Treatment." The fourth form contains an entire page of "CONDITIONS OF COVERAGE" and "PERMISSION AND RELEASE FORM" with a space for me to sign and date. The fifth form contains the following sections: "FOUNDATION/SLAB [ALL boxes are checked, but neither of the blank spaces for "Crawlspace" (which I don't have) nor "Other" are filled in; additionally, there is no basement in this house, yet it's checked] Float/Supported Slab Monolithic Post Tension Crawlspace_____#Piers Basement Other___" "EXTERIOR WALL CONSTRUCTION [again, ALL boxes are checked, even ones that do not seem to apply to my house; it's a concrete block exterior; styrofoam?; "Other" is again checked but space is left blank] Concrete Block Wood Frame Styrofoam Metal Frame Other_______________" "EXTERIOR FINISH [again, ALL boxes are checked, even ones that do not seem to apply to my house; the entire exterior of my house is block; no brick, no wood except the eaves, no vinyl, no aluminum, no stone] Stucco Brick Wood Vinyl Aluminum Stone" The last section is a diagram of my house with areas that are indicated as "SU" (subterranean termites), "X" (drilling area), "T" (trenching area), "A" (stem wall drill). This page is also signed by Mike. So, here are my questions: Regarding Termidor: I researched this product online and it seems to be fairly recent but top of the line for termite infestation. There is no mention anywhere that I could find that treatment might vary regarding its use. Regarding the Angie's List Deal: The deal (see link above) says, "$759 for Termidor Termite Treatment, Prevention & 10-Year Warranty!" It also says, "Action Termite Control LLC, a Super Service Award winner on Angie's List, is offering Termidor Termite Treatment & Prevention service PLUS a 10-year warranty for ONLY $759! This service is normally priced at $1,605, saving Angie's List members over $846! Termidor termite treatment has a number of flexible application options. Your pest professional will determine what type of Termidor treatment will work best for your particular situation." [note that it doesn't say that any application options will cost anything different than the stated price] The fine print says, "Not valid for cash back Coupon cannot be combined with other specials or offers Coupon cannot be applied to current or past jobs Coupon is for residential service only Appointments are to be performed during normal business hours Normal cancellation policies apply One coupon per person/household Service covers homes up to 2500 sq. ft. (larger homes may have an additional price, contact Action Termite Control if home exceeds 2,500 sq. ft.) [my house is only 1809 sq. ft] Service is subject to a $49 annual termite inspection fee with FREE re-treatment when needed!! [if there is a 10-year warranty on houses that are nearly 700 sq ft larger than mine, it includes "treatment" of termites AND "prevention" of future termites, includes a 10-year warranty, and includes free retreatment when needed, WHY DO I NEED TO PAY $1500, which is what Mike quoted me? Also, why is the $1500 treatment better and more necessary than the one that normally costs $1605 that is being discounted to the cost of the Angie's List Deal price of $759?] Includes a yearly scheduled inspection/ prevention treatment or more often if deemed necessary [why, if the Angie's List Deal includes this is there a $49 annual cost if it's "included" in the deal? And, if this treatment needs follow-up, then isn't that what the deal covers?] Yearly Program will warranty entire structure [if the yearly program "warrantys the entire structure" then why do I need more than what the deal is advertising?] Action Termite Control Services all of Maricopa and Pinal Counties Coupon expires 9 months from the date of purchase So, there it is: 1. I'm concerned about the incomplete and incorrect completion of the documents that were emailed to me by Mike. 2. I'm concerned about why the Angie's List Deal is said by Mike to be inadequate for my needs, given its wording, claims, and warranty. 3. I'm concerned about the pricing conflicts in the Angie's List Deal and the quote from Mike: Mike says I need a "better" treatment that costs $1500, when the Angie's List Deal says it has a 10-year warranty for a much larger house and the Angie's List Deal cites a regular cost of $1605, more than the claimed-to-be superior treatment. I hope that this business is as above-board and professional as they claim to be, so I look forward to a reasonable handling of this review so that we can do business and I can write a stellar review of it.
Description of Work: I called this company because I am a member of Angie's List and I was impressed with the quality and number of ratings on Angie's List. I am moving into a family-owned house that has evidence of termites and is need of major renovation throughout (an already very expensive project). They were very prompt in returning my voicemail (I originally called after hours) and were very prompt in getting Mike Boswell out to do an inspection. He confirmed our suspicions that we have termites, said he would put together documentation that he would send by email, and would also call. He did both. That is the extent to date of the services performed. I have now emailed Mike and left a voicemail at the office (it's the weekend) stating that I need more information before going ahead with the treatment because Mike said that the Angie's List Deal (http://deals.angieslist.com/deal/759-for-termidor-termite-treatment-prevention-10-y/?storefrontitemid=y9GVT8SX%2fOkZ5VfYHwzN5w%3d%3d&source=11) would not be adequate for my family's home. When he initially spoke to me, he made sense in justifying the additional cost (twice the cost of the Angie's List Deal), but that was before I read his email documentation and did some research on Termidor. I am still open to working with them, but at this point I need more explanation of the doubled cost estimate and explanation as to why the Angie's List Deal would not be sufficient to do what it says it will do. This company has a reputation so far for being a top-notch company, so I am hopeful that this issue will be resolved and I can post more information and a happy result for other Angie's List members. More details in the next section.

From start to finish the job was performed with a high level of knowledge and professionalism.
Description of Work: We found termite activity on December 3, 2012. When I phoned the company they were happy to schedule us the same week. After coming out to inspect the property, they suggested adding an additional service to the one we paid for on Angie's List. We agreed that the additional work would be better for our situation. They scheduled the required work and showed up promptly and were finished ahead of time. We were pleased with their willingness to schedule our job as soon as possible. All employees were very helpful and professional. We would gladly recommend them to a friend.

Staff were always responsive, very knowledgeable, very calming (a plus), and used the best product available - the new Termidor HE. What impressed me is that that do training for other pest firms in Termidor treatment. Everyone was punctual. I feel I got good value for the service and can relax a little knowing I have had treatment professionally applied and have a treatment warranty. I think it was a good choice to go with a firm that only deals in termites. Their record on BBB and with the pest board in AZ is excellent. I especially liked working with Mike Boswell who does the initial inspection and recommends treatment options.
Description of Work: In response to signs of live subterranean termites in the detached garage, Action Termite did initial inspection and then follow-up treatment. I went with the whole house treatment in addition to the garage to prevent expanded infestation. They treated the grage, entire circumference of the house and in the crawl space (the crawl space added some cost that not everyone would need).

Overall, very satisfied with the service and would use them in the future.
Description of Work: The exterminator arrived exactly when they said they would and were very professional. They drilled holes in the foundation and sealed them with a matching cement caulking and they also dug a trench around the foundation to administer the pest control agent. They cleaned up after themselves and also replaced the soil and rocks over the trench so you could not see that they were even there.

The treatment was approximately standard according to the label directions for a building with a concrete slab foundation. The trenching was relatively cursory. However, my home does not have a concrete slab foundation; it has a concrete perimeter footing and a crawlspace, with wood joist floors about 2' above grade, partially supported by concrete piers. Termidor's label calls for a different approach in such cases. The technician doing the application was unaware of this fact. I had made it clear when ordering the 'Big Deal' that my house was different, and asked if the deal still applied. I received assurances that it did. The technician, however, assured me that the 'Big Deal' only covered a slab-type application. I discussed this afterward with a company service representative who seemed sympathetic but inexperienced, and no real resolution was reached.
Description of Work: A Termidor (Fipronil) chemical barrier treatment was applied to the perimeter of the residence. That included hand digging a very shallow trench and spraying into it, then refilling the trench. Areas where concrete slabs adjoined the house were drilled at the join, chemical was applied and the holes were patched. Additional material was sprayed into an crawlspace area where termites had previously been seen emerging. During summer 2012, no termite emergence occurred where one had been seen in 2011, but evidence of termites has appeared at another location in the house. I have not yet contacted Action Termite Control to have this assessed.

I didnt know what to expect from this until the technician arrived. They drill your concrete surrounding your house every 18" with a 1/2" drill bit and if you have landscape, they trench a few inches down with a pickaxe around the foundation/stem wall to loosen the soil. Then they spray gallons of the Thermidor into the holes and trenches. My 2000 sq foot house took 68 gallons. After the spraying, the tech covers the concrete holes with a cement patch. It doesn't look great on my Cool Deck, but its not his fault either. He also went back and put most of the dirt back into the trenches. My only concern is that he asked me to move everything that wasn't stationary away from the patio wall and anywhere else. Since I am able bodied I made quick work of moving the plants and table and such but it made me wonder how he does this to someone who isn't able to work as quickly or at all like me, like a senior citizen. Does he himself evaluate the capability of the customer? So once I moved my stuff, he went to work, when he was done, I had to move my stuff back. I didnt realize how many plants and such I had to move to give him space next to the house. Thank god for a 10 year guarantee! :) The only other thing that I can comment on, is that I had to move some of the loosened soil/rocks back against the stem wall and also move the garden hose back to its resting spot off of my lawn and onto the landscape rock. These are minor details but they were enough for me to notice the lack of attention to detail. I would still recommend however.

The work was done in a good time, notice a few months later, one burrow was coming through the interior of garage crevice. Did not notice no other trails from ground to foundation\base of house.
Description of Work: Technician was polite, informative of the process that will be done: he took the initiative to show us the mapped foundation of home and where the processes will take place. Reason we did a B rating, we notice or we missed it, that he did a pre-inspection by a walk around the foundation, but did not look into attic or interior. In regards to the pricing, it is the same advertised amount for another company and newspaper, so it did not seem like a real discount from Angie's list.

There were two appointments. The first appointment consisted of a guy coming out (I want to say his name was Mike) and surveyng the damage and providing a treatment plan. He was really nice. Couple things I did not like. 1. He smelled like cigarette smoke (Did not dig that); 2. I pre-paid for something, and he provided me with another (more expensive) plan. I asked that since there is a 10 year warranty (re-treat if needed) then why do I need more treatment.. He advised that it would just mean the technicians would have to come out less, and less likely for termites to go to that side of the house, that has not been infested. The first plan worked just fine. He advised that the technicians will need to pull up my carpet and drill holes in my house. This was fine. However, when the technicians came out, they went over where they needed to drill or trench. They did not need to drill in my house, as the same results could be achieved by drilling outside the house. I am inclined to believe the technicians(that were trained to apply the product), then the sales person. Been about 2 months now, and I have not seen any termites.
