The repairman was on time and clear about the costs in question(but he did try to upsell me services to get me to a total of $500+ which I understand). Unfortunately since I have come to rely on Angie’s List coupons I have gotten a little lazy. I have not been getting my own estimates anymore. That was a mistake. Beware using any of their deals on their site and shop around first and understand how much said deal will really cost you ahead of time. The deal states: • $149.00 for garage door spring replacement • Valid for 2 springs replaced But that does not include labor. I thought it did. That should be more clear in the coupon. Their labor is $147.95 to replace the springs. $149 is only for the replacement springs. So the total is $296.95 instead of the $149. I should have gone with one of the other coupons with My Garage Guys which is $149 for 1 spring or the Magnum Garage Door Solutions which charges $225 for 2 springs which include the labor. Price wise these guys are average, but if you are shopping for a better deal, call around first to find out how much it is to install springs including labor. All in all, the repairman was quick, friendly, efficient, and did not leave a mess. Work was done in 45 minutes. I would probably hire them again if I were not using my money. But I could have saved at $75 for an A rated Angies lister on another deal. Avoid this vendors coupons until they make them more clear about what you are actually paying for.

The repair tech showed up on time, even got a heads up call from him, letting me know he was on his way. Overall the two panels cost me almost $600 (includes parts and labor) to get replaced, which seems a little high, and was also told that all my rollers are shot, and should be replaced as well, (another $150 and up depending on the rollers). Seems like I could get a brand new garage door for that amount. Never the less, the technician was great, very informative, and got the job done quickly. I'd definitely recommend these guys.

The technician Ed was very friendly and knowledgeable. He verified the proper installation and operation when the job was finished. He repaired the door honestly and promptly. A great individual working for a great company. Called them on Sunday repair set for Monday not an emergency. Great response. Some work I preform myself and rarely hire things done but this is the company to use. Neighbor recommended. You can't go wrong.

A1 did indicate that they could come out this Monday night (two days from now), but again, why does it take them so long to fix a repeated problem of theirs in the first place?? If they had good customer service they would have made arrangements to come out the same day the problem was reported. As stated previously, this will likely cause them to lose us as a customer.
Description of Work: Had A1 out to replace a garage door opener. They recommended "the best," which was a Guardian model pro series, which ended up costing $500. Had it installed and almost immediately had issues with it not working. None of our remotes nor key pad would make it open on the first attempt. Usually took three or four attempts just to get it to open, which is unacceptable. When we contacted A1 about the problem, they suggested we try and "re-program" it ouselves, using the manual instructions, which were not intuitive at all. We eventually had a technician come to our house fo an unrelated issue to replace door springs when i again brought up the issue of our dissatisfaction with our garage door opener. The tech said that the "circuit board" was likely the issue and that it was still under warranty. The technician was able to make some adjustments which temporarily fixed our problem for a couple of months, but today, the system doesn't work at all. We cannot close or open the door with any of the remotes or keypads. Calling in to get someone out to fix this issue we were told that next Thursday (five days from now) was the soonest they could send someone out; which, for a repeated problem, is absolutely unacceptable. They gave me the impression that they have emergency services available, but i haven't seen any indication that this is the case. I would not recommend a Guardian garage door opener and do not expect A1 to be responsive to issues that you have as it's been our experience you cannot get them to come to your residence in a reasonable amount of time, even to fix repeated issues you are having with systems that they put in. Once this problem is addressed we likely will go elsewhere and use another business who is more responsive and able to come to our home in a more reasonable time period. We will keep this post updated on how A1 responds to this issue and whether they make this bad situation right with their customer.

Called to schedule, but needed emergency service, and the office told me no one was available...even though they advertise 24/7 service. I was put on hold for awhile and when they answered, they said they could send someone out the next day. Then without giving me an appointment time, transferred me to a service rep who hung up during call. When I tried calling back, no one answered. I will never use these people for garage door service/repairs.

The springs and bearings were replaced and the tech left. That night we noticed when the door went up the light immediately shut off. Also walking through the sensor the light did not come back on. After a few phone calls and speaking with a manager, A1 sent a tech back out. He identified a faulty sensor and replaced it but the light still did not come back on. The tech identified a faulty motherboard and ordered it. A1 got the part the same day and immediately scheduled us for the next available install. The Tech showed up exactly as scheduled and installed the new board. He programmed all of the remotes and the keypad and verified everything was in 100% working order.

A1 had to make repeated visits to get the new garage door openers installed and working properly. I had to call them multiple times in the months of October and November to remind them the work was not completed. The Belt Drive door operators are loud, contrary to the belief and expectation that the new belt drive openers would be quieter than the chain drives they replaced. After mentioning to the installer, he lubricated the operating parts to supposedly quiet the noise. Several months later the openers are even noisier than when initially installed. Sounds like the motors not the tracks to me, so I doubt if the lubrication did much of anything. The Two garage door openers were installed (but not working properly) in Oct 2016. After months of increasingly noisier operation, I called in the early morning on Saturday June 10, 2017 to schedule an appointment. I asked about warranty and was told by the A1 contact person that he was not familiar with the warranty period or policy. I've never heard of a company not knowing what their warranty was on the products they sell and install. Aside from that, I was expecting the door opener to be in warranty just 8 months after the original install and on an original noise issue. I was taken aback when getting a rate for a service call. Anyway, he quoted me a service rate and said they had a 4-6 pm opening, which we scheduled. I value my weekends off but wanted to get this taken care of, so did not schedule anything away from home for the day. After hanging out most of the day waiting, I received a call at 2:15 pm from A1 wanting to re-schedule less than 2 hours before the appointment time. This happened twice for the initial install as well, so I guess I should not have been surprised as it seems to be their M.O.. They did offer to come back the next day (Sunday) but given the history of their unreliability, I decided not to risk wasting my entire weekend off in the hopes they would show up this time. The sad part is they claim to have received a company of the year award or some other such nonsense from Angie's List. I personally would not recommend them to anyone, much less a friend. If y

This was a very good experience. A-1 was able to respond with same-day service and the technician they sent, Craig J, was excellent. He did not try to upsell, but simply explained the repair options very clearly. Watching him work, it was clear that he is very experienced and skilled. We also replaced our aging opener with a newer, more quiet belt drive version. We couldn't be more pleased with the results.

Under no circumstances would I ever recommend this company whether in Northern Arizona or Phoenix - I dealt with both offices. A horrible experience I would not wish on anyone. This is only the second online negative review I have ever left. I don’t do so lightly. In 25 years of home ownership I have never experienced a home service provider lie as much as these people. It so stacked with one lie after another and misrepresentations, it’s overwhelming to talk about. Let’s start with they rescheduled the first appointment three times then ultimately didn’t show up! When you are home alone that means three times I had to re-arrange my schedule. The initial dispatcher told me they had the “spring” on the truck --- this was a lie. When I spoke to the installer (supposedly a training supervisor) he said the dispatcher did not ask me the right questions to establish what I needed and could he “skip” seeing the garage and just order the part and it would take a week to get. They finally scheduled the time to install and then company called me and said no they have to wait another three days because they have to send installer down to my house so they confirm the part! The day of the appointment arrives and they given me the wrong time window! (I’m not kidding) and they don’t have all the parts that were promised! They installed the springs and could not get the garage to work and said the problem is the garage door and that needs to replaced and the manager tried to me sell me a garage door on the phone at a “discount”. I immediately called two garage door companies and explained the situation to them and they both said they same thing -– they installed the “wrong springs”. I called A1 back and talked to same manager and he said and I quote: “We know those are the wrong springs for that garage.” Unbelievable. So they want to put struts support on the garage door to “make it work.” They returned 9 hours later at 10:00 PM at night instead of making the job of priority especially after admitting to me they had made many mistakes in the job and that the employee (training supervisor) had been severely reprimanded. This ridiculous story goes on and on. When they discovered I was going to post a negative review online suddenly this company tried to clean up their mess and offer me a new garage door “supposed” at cost. I took them up on their offer and waited another week. The installation was again fraught with issues – the house is not level, the cement floor is not level. Interesting to me that the existing garage door had no issues for 20 years. The service tech they did send was very cordial. They did try to fix these issues but in the end wanted to charge me $200 to complete the installation 100%. At this point the garage still does not work correctly. Please take me very seriously when I strongly recommend to avoid this company. There are many reputable garage door companies out there. I will be taking them too small claims court.

Response from A1 Garage Door Service
As far as Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s claims go, there are some inaccuracies in his recollection of the events that took place. First off, the dispatcher did not "lie" as he stated. The technicians usually do keep springs on their trucks. We are a garage door company and do carry the parts for doors. However, it is physically impossible to keep every single spring for every single combination available. This is an unrealistic expectation. However, there were some things told to the customer that were inaccurate. We admitted to our errors and, as soon as we were made aware of this, we took drastic measures appease the customer and make up for lost time and the frustration this caused. Our hands were tied to an extent because this repair was being covered under his home warranty company. Because of this fact, we attempted to repair the customer's door at his request so it would all be covered by the home warranty company. However, the door was beyond repair and the springs that were used would not solve this issue. The technician did return to the customer's house at 10:00 P.M. after servicing other customers all day to attempt to repair his door one last time. Collectively, we decided to stop attempting to repair a door that could not be repaired and offered a solution of replacing the door at our cost. We did so without the customer's threats of legal action and social media slandering. It is to be noted that the customer told the original technician on the very first phone call that if we did not do a good job he would post every negative review he could. It is our contention he had every intent of writing said negative review no matter how this ended up. The door has been installed and is working properly. We went out again at no charge to the customer and installed a thicker bottom seal to help close up the gaps at the bottom. This was to no avail unfortunately. After we had completed hundreds of dollars' worth of service calls, labor, and framing to get the new door to align to his foundation, we determined the only 2 solutions were to have another contractor come out and level the concrete in the garage or purchase a threshold that would help seal it up. He then brought up that his door was not closing smoothly due to the bottom seal we put on to try and get it to seal better for him. I offered to come and replace it with the original at no cost and put the threshold on for the $200 he mentioned. That was for additional services that are not a part of any door purchase. We feel we have satisfied our fiduciary responsibility to this customer. As always, we will go above and beyond to please the customer. The offer still stands for us to come and replace the upgraded bottom seal with the original bottom seal so it is not catching on his door.

Amazing! I had known exactly what I was looking for and called around for quotes. No questions asked, they were able to beat the best quote I received from another company. No comparison for how professional and customer service oriented they are. Everyone I worked with was great and knowledgeable.
