Description of Work: A plastic cupler was stripped on our 2 year old garage door opener. Wade quickly assessed the issue, tracked one one down and fixed the issue 3 days later. He also replaced the wheels on the track, which were the reason for the door drag and the stripped cupler.

He educated me on the products I have, the quality of the motor, what needed replacing and what my best options were to save money. He told me flat out that the more expensive options were unnecessary. No high pressure sales and no rip offs. I have no hesitation in recommending this company to my family or friends. I'm glad I established a professional relationship with A1 Garage and will use them in the future if needed. (Hopefully I won't need them though! :)
Description of Work: I had a garage door accident where I was backing my car out of the garage and accidentally pressed the garage door clicker so the door went down on my car. Luckily, my brand new car was unharmed, but unfortunately my garage door got bent out of place. I had plenty of flyers from this company from the mail advertisements I received after buying my house so I decided to give them a chance, they had some good deals on their flyers. They were very timely in getting a service guy at my house, coordinated time windows to come out, and the guy was prompt. I don't remember his name but he was excellent. Very professional and I had no safety concerns with him. The scheduler lady told me the name of the guy coming out and I got confirmation emails and a call ahead of time to announce he was on his way. He was very informative in explaining his assessment of what was wrong and gave easy to understand information. Being a woman I was concerned about being ripped off but that didn't happen at all. He gave me good deals and honestly the number I quoted above for price of service may not be accurate because this happened months ago and I'm trying to remember off the top of my head. I do remember the price was reasonable though. He was great with telling me my options, the prices for the service work, and recommending for or against certain services, prices or products. I got "Garage Door 101" education also. I needed a new panel for the bottom of the garage door, which he had to order. He came out promptly within the week of his first appointment. Again, he was prompt and the company was responsive with good communication. The garage door was fixed excellent and I haven't had any problems with it since then. He also had to adjust the rollers on the side of the door and straighten out the roller panel thingies. He did a great job and his work was professional without wasting my time or taking too long.

The technician was there during the allotted window. He was professional, knowledgeable and courteous and had the door fixed in under 15 minutes. He explained to me what he did and what I need to do for preventative maintenance even showing me what was needed. Would highly recommend!

+ -1 moreExcellent work .. Tim explained everything, worked quickly and made terrrific suggestions on the equipment ... status of the old unit and mechanisms and the advantages of the new ones. It was obvious that the other unit had not been properly maintained. We now have a quieter unit that works ... remotes and all.
Description of Work: Installed a new Garage Door Opener, rollers and inspected garage door. Called to schedule a maintenance check of the Garage Door Opener system in the house we purchased in September 2012. There were no records on the Lift Master System except the installation booklet and one of the remotes did not work (even with a new battery) and the keyless entry worked sporadically. We did not know how old the system was or if it had experienced any problems, or received any prior repairs or periodic maintenance. Since several other basic items in this Avian Condo (built in 2000) did not have records and had not been maintained properly, we knew this system needed to be evaluated so we secured the services of A1 based on Angies list reviews. We were able to get appointment within a day or two of our call and the technician, Tim, arrived early actually -- he called beforehand to check if this was OK. Upon evaluation, he advised that the door opener appeared original to the house and estimated it's age as approaching 13 years ... he found some areas of concern and after discussion of options and what we could most likely expect in the coming couple years, we decided to take his recommendation and replace the 1/3 HP chain-drive unit with a new 1/2 HP belt-drive unit.

While here, Danny performed the tune-up explaining what he was doing. After the door tuneup, he installed the rubber threshold. There were no high pressure sales tactics at all and Danny was extremely helpful in answering all of my questions. We were very impressed with this firm and would not hesitate to use them again.

+ -1 moreAfter getting the tune up special for 40, the tech, Tommy came out and showed me how bad my garage door really was. Trusting the rating on here I went with the upsell for new springs at a better deal than I could find online quickly. Tommy was super helpful, nice, clean and fast. He ensured me the new spring and tune up should hold up for years to come. He also took the extra time to adjust and secure the poor installation from the previous homeowner to make sure I had no problems. It runs super smooth and much much quieter now.

+ -1 moreWork was completed, but the cost was a lot higher than I have paid before (even with one of their coupons). When I had initially scheduled the appointment, they would not provide a estimate until a visual inspection was completed. By the time I had them out there, I just needed it fixed and paid the higher amount. I would recommend calling around and trying to get a few quotes first. Maybe even go with an independent like I had in the past. Again, the work was done well although due to the high cost and the inability to provide a phone estimate, I would not use them again.

+ -1 moreI was impressed that I was able to get through to someone right away (and this was Labor Day weekend). I was able to get a technition to come out on Monday (Labor Day) at no additional charge. I received a quote over the phone, which was about $100 less than what I was told once the technition came out to the house. I would think they would be able to be a bit more accurate as I told them exactly what spring was broken, type of opener, etc. There was an additonal part that needed to be fixed which was optional - ok with that extra charge as it was needed. I was told that the technition would be here between 1&4 and he showed up at 4 - I did get a call beforehand letting me know he was on his way. The technition was very friendly. Overall I was happy with the company and work performed. My only complaints were poor accuracy on quote and the fact that technition arrived with very dirty, greasy hands and I ran ahead to open/close doors to make sure they didn't get all greasy. Ended up having to scrub greasy hand prints off of white garage door after he left. Other than that, good service and satisfied.
Description of Work: The spring was broken and needed to be replaced and technition found another part that was advisable to replace.

When I declined the other services they offered, their attitude somewhat changed and he added on a service trip fee. I felt like the coupon was a rip off.
