We contacted Raymo and Brooks for a major remodeling project of our home. We interveiwed them and provided them with an overall reveiw of the project at our home. Through their kindness, they allowed us to review a major project they had under way so that we could view their workmanship and general demeanor at a site as well as their capability in carrying out our project. We confirmed that they would be on site daily for the project. They patiently answered our verbal questions during our visits and left us with the impression that they were capable to do the project and that they do quality work. We provided architectual plans and a set of bid specifications that we were looking for along. The specifications were sent electronically on Sept. 15th with a requested deadline of Sept. 28th. About five days into the period we received a response that they declined to bid. After further inquiry and a request to ask them the reconsider, they explained that they felt they did not have enough time to response to the bid. They also noted that several of the items we wanted, they did not have a subcontractor capable of doing the work, or it was work they had not done before. This is a highly admirable and honest response and we greatly appreciated the candor, but this left us with no room for discussion as it did not identify the problem areas (other than the solar panel work) or what may be an acceptable alternative bid deadline. Had they called us to discuss their issues, we would have been more that happy to discuss alternatives as well as consider an alternate deadline. We would also be willing to arrange for subcontractors that we identified as alternatives for the work that Raymo and Brooks felt uncomfortable about doing. We were and are open to meeting Raymo and Brooks at any site and time to discuss this - saving them time, but no call came, only another rejection. We were specifically interested in knowing which portions of the project they did not have a subcontractor for and which they did not have the experience to carryout. Other that the solar panels and solar water issues, they did not provide us with an detail. We believe Raymo and Brooks are highly capable contractors who strive to do do high quality and dependable work. However, their declination has put us into a difficult situation and may result in even further delays for us (even longer that just extending the bid deadline). Further, the tone of their declination was such that it gave the impression that they were not open to any further discussion.
Description of Work: We contacted Raymo and Brooks as a potential general contractor bidder for the major remodeling project of our home. The initial interview was in our home to discuss in general terms what we would like to have done. We also visited one of their project sites to view the type of work they do. Detailed architect plans were provided along with a Request for Proposal and specifications applicable to the project. All information was transmitted electronically with approximately a two week deadline for response.

I originaly got this company by accident . It has worked out extremely well . I started with a small roof repair, then a bathroom remodel ( which I get compliments on constantly ) then a garage addition, next is a 400sq ft room addition. I would recomend these guy's to anyone who is looking for a contractor. Top quality work, professional , courtious , friendly and responsive to the needs of the customer. I could go on and on but needless to say if you where to hire these guy's you won't regret it.
