We hired Arizona Blinds to personally sell us drapes in 2 rooms of our home. This included the drapery fabric, rods, and all hardware involved in installing drapes. We are not happy number one because during the site visit the sales man named Thomas Dawson clearly stated and sold us on the concept of not adding black out fabric to our drapes. He stated that based on the room dynamics and lighting they would not be necessary and the clothe backing that comes standard would block the sun. We trusted him as he said that he has done several installs and guaranteed we would be satisfied. On the day of install of course we noticed that light comes through the drapes and ruins the whole look of the drapes. Not only does light come in the rooms which is the whole reason we purchased the drapes but the look is not appealing. Also when the installers hung the drapes they hung the drapes in one room too high. When we complained they said they could adjust the drapes but only to a certain point without lowering the rod. If they lowered the rod they said they would not be responsible for the holes they placed in the drywall and I would have to fix at my expense. The drapes were obviously measured wrong and the rod was not placed in the proper position. My feeling is that when you spend almost 10,000.00. you should have c company with a competent salesman and installation team. Thomas Dawson was not even competent enough to recommend blackout backings on drapes and he sells them all day. The company cant even measure accurately and hang the curtains properly so that they don't fall short of floor and are sticking to the glass windows. I feel cheated out of a considerable amount of money and the company is rude and will not correct this at their expense. Please, if you are a consumer do not go to this business for your drapery and blind needs. They do not know what they are doing and will charge you a fortune and will not follow up when they do things wrong.

Don't know what they are called but the long slats for Arcadia door. Had a little problem with one end pulling away from the wall--they came out immediately and fixed it. Not sure I would use this type of blind again. Might try something different. I like being able to open and close them and they did do what I had hoped they would do being able to adjust the opening and closing. Sorry I don't remember when they were installed.

Wait time for shutters is 10 weeks and I was hoping to get them sooner. Will review after 10 days when the first of the blinds get installed.
Description of Work: Debbie from Arizona Blinds came in, measured and helped with the blinds and shutters selection.
It was great! They were very professional, did the work as promised, and did a quality job for a fair price. Ultimately, we're very pleased with the final product.

Everything went well, and I appreciated that the company sent someone to explain my options and help me choose which kind of blinds would be best. The installers were prompt, did a good job with the installation, and didn't leave a mess. The price was reasonable, too.

If you call the phone number in Tucson, the recording tells the caller that their mailbox is full and unable to take the call. Upon calling the other number, they let you know that the Tucson office is out of business and that they cannot service the Tucson area. I have no idea why they are on Angie's List.

Setting up a visit with them was relatively painless and they were able to come quickly. The designer that came was well prepared, very nice and had great information and ideas. The work was being done on my mother's house after we'd had the house remodeled after she'd had a stroke. Her stroke severely impacted her ability to talk and made the consultation tedious at times but the designer was great. We ordered blinds for several windows and shutters for 4 bedrooms. I was advised at the time that due to the custom build nature of the shutters along with them having just moved to a new production facility, the normal time of 4-6 weeks could take up to 8 weeks. Well, the blinds arrived within a few weeks and were just as ordered and looked great. Installers were great, on time, professional and in and out. The shutters are completely different story. The 8 weeks came and went and I didn't hear anything. Finally got a message while out of town in September that the shutters would be ready Sept 20 or thereabouts. September 20 came and went. Finally around October 10 I got a call that the shutters were ready. Unfortunately, my brother had grown tired of waiting and the people sleeping in bedrooms without shutters had told me they'd started looking elsewhere. When we got things sorted out the install was set for done on November 4. Install went very, very quickly and was nicely done. The shutters look great and the fit appears perfect. While I can't praise the quality enough and how nice the people from AZ Blinds I dealt with for their service enough, given the over 3 months it took to get the shutters done was a huge issue. Little was done to advise us as to the status, beyond the one phone call (and that wasn't even right). It's disconcerting, to say the least, when you give a company several thousand $'s and you don't hear from them. Overall, as stated, the quality and work is great. However, because of the extremely long wait time and lack of communication, I just cannot recommend them. If you're not pressed for time, then you're fine. If you need something within a couple months, my advice would be to look elsewhere. Responding to the Provider Response: Yes, we are happy with the shutters, I made that clear. You claim that you called us "early on". No, you didn't. What we were told, by your rep during the consultation - and she gave us the paper you'd printed out with this as well - was that you were moving to a new production facility and shutter orders would be delayed 4-6 weeks. In fact, I'm looking at the paper as I type this. When our blinds arrived (on time) the installers told us, again, that it would be 2-4 weeks for the shutters. That was in June. There was NO contact from your company until September. And the message I received was that our shutters would be ready Sept 21. We didn't hear back from you until October 10. I get the issues you have with your facilities. But, why is that my problem? If you are running on such a thin line that any little blip is going to cause a major disruption, as it appears to have based on what others have posted, you would do well to re-examine your business model. Customers don't like shelling out thousands of $'s only to wait and wait and wait for their purchase to be completed. If you'd actually called us, like you claim you did, there'd be no angst as at least you would have made some effort. But, you didn't. I'm glad you took it upon yourselves to "stay the course and deliver the quality built shutter". Considering that is what we paid for, it's what you are supposed to do. Do not expect praise for doing what you say you will do. You may well be installing thousands of feet of your product, but I can tell you it won't be in any of our houses ever again.

I'm happy that you mentioned the high quality of the shutters we installed for you. We called you early on and explained to you that the shutters were going to be late. Something happened to the factory location we were in and had to move our shutter factory almost over night. It wasn't expected. Now, we could have "cheated" and installed cheap, imported "look-a-likes" and done that quickly. But we decided to stay the course and deliver you the quality built shutter that is the best in the marketplace. I am sorry for the delays and we're almost caught up on our production and we're back to installing literally thousands of sq. ft. of shutters a month and delivering the highest quality product in the market. If there are ever any issues or concerns with the products you've purchased from us, please don't hesitate to call us, we offer lifetime warranties.

This is the second time I've used this company. The first time the order was ultra slow as well with what I believe was about 8-10 weeks to wait (originally told it would be about 7 weeks), but words cannot express how frustrating this order has been. Next week will mark FIVE MONTHS of having to wait for two shutters. I have provided 50% down payment on these shutters, otherwise I would have cancelled the order months ago. I ordered the shutters on May 15, 2013, today is October 08, 2013. Still waiting. I called in July and was told a few more weeks. I called in August and they said they had "an unexpected move" of their facility. Who tells that kind of story? I don't doubt that it's truthful, but it causes panic in this particular customer thinking "OMG, this company is going belly-up and I'm never going to see my blinds or get my deposit back." I've worked in customer service and this was a crazy move to tell customers about an "unexpected move" at least without saying "Our facility flooded and we were forced to move to a different location due to circumstances beyond our control" or some such excuse, but "an unexpected move" causes my knee jerk reaction to think that the company might not be paying their bills and got evicted. Mere speculation and opinions of what could potentially be, but if it was my knee jerk reaction, certainly others might well feel the same way. I received a voice mail (I still have it saved on my phone) saying the installers would be here the third week of August. That never happened. I got a call in September saying the shutters were being finished up and I could expect a call saying that they would be installed soon. Still nothing. I got a call arranging the installation for 10/02/2013 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. I rearranged my schedule to make sure I was here during those hours, although I had many other things I needed to be doing. It was 11:40 a.m. (20 minutes before the end of the time frame given) that I get a call saying they will not be coming at all because one of the installers called in sick. Wouldn't they have known this by 10:00? I asked this and the scheduler said she just did learn right then that the man had called in sick. From my experience having other shutters installed, it only takes one installer and they had no one to get out to my home that day? What about the next day? Nope....not possible, according to the scheduler. SO, they are scheduled to be here today between 2:00-3:00 p.m. We shall see if they show up, but from a customer service perspective, if I were the owner himself, I would have made a special trip to get those shutters installed that very day before I would have put the customer off any longer. Horrible, horrible customer service! Five months is insane to wait for two shutters. Oddly enough, I have several thousand dollars more in shutters I had planned to order for my kitchen and family room, but there is simply no way I can trust this company again. Even the scheduler herself was not eager to take a new order from me and said after we get these installed, I can "think about it" ----no thank you, I've done enough thinking about this company and wondering where this order is. Lesson learned, unless I see a huge discount on the final 50% I owe on these shutters for all of the aggravation I've been through, I'm done; however, if they do provide a nice discount, I will be quick to let the readers of this review know. **UPDATE** The appointment set for 2:00-3:00 p.m. yesterday (10/08/2013) - COMPLETE NO SHOW. I had no phone call ahead of time confirming the appointment and I had to call them at 3:15 p.m. to find out what was going on. Suzanne told me the installers are running late and would be at my home at 4:00 p.m. I told Suzanne when she booked this appointment that I had to be out no later than 3:45 p.m. so that I could get where I needed to be by 4:00 (and I explained my personal circumstances). At this time Suzanna says "Oh yeah, that's right, you did tell me that.....well, we're going to have to reschedule you for next Monday" (6 more days). I threw a fit! I told her I want a refund and I'm sick and tired of this wait. This is ridiculous. I also told her about this Angie's List review that I just posted. Finally, she put me on hold and came back agreeing to have someone in my home between 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. this morning (10/09/2013). If they don't show today, it's over. **FINAL OUTCOME** 10:01 a.m. rolled around and there was no call and no show from the installers for the date of our appointment (10/09/2013 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.). I called Suzanna, the scheduler and she said the installers are running late and will be here within the half hour. I told her I've never seen anything like this horrible customer service in my life and to be perfectly honest, unless I get a HUGE discount, their installers may not have permission to come in once they get here. I explained that if I owe more than $100 balance, then I'm done. Suzanna said she would have to call corporate to give me any more than a 20% discount. I told her "You give 20% discounts automatically to Angie's List members" --she said she was not aware of this and considered this to be a generous discount. The installers showed up and I kept Suzanna on speaker phone for them to listen. They had to wait until Suzanna could call me back. The one installer suggested I call the Vice President, Megan Dawson and I did. Megan explained that she could give me a discount that amounted to basically 35% and no more (I owed a total of approximately $1093 and ended up paying a total of $750). I had already paid $500 and told her if I have to pay a penny more than $100 that she may not have my business for the thousands of dollars in shutters I have left in my kitchen and family room. She insisted I pay $250 because she was not prepared to eat that $150 in loss of profit that she claims she would have to do. At some point she told me that her father owns the business.I suggest the daddy needs to teach his daughter how to negotiate a bit better because his daughter just walked away from quite a profit in an order that I was prepared to make right then and there. Total bad experience. I felt bad for the one installer, Daniel. As he was listening to this on speaker phone, he kept shaking his head in disgust because he truly, truly wanted the business on the other rooms of my house. As for the explanation Megan gave for my bad experience -she claims that they have moved to a beautiful facility and my order fell behind due to this unfortunate situation and sometimes these things happen. She claims that production has finally caught up to between 6-8 weeks (Megan unknowingly just let it slip that this apparently has made my order last in the catch-up process). Bottom line: I'm done with this company. Their communication and customer service is a complete train wreck.

This customer was originally given 25% off. We then gave them another 31% off due to our delays in production. Their shutters are now installed. Our customers were advised early on that we had a major occurrence at our shutter facility and that delays were inevitable. We had to unexpectedly and immediately relocate our shop due to unsafe conditions and it was totally out of our control. We offered refunds but most customers chose to “wait out the delays.” The Martin’s shutters were unfortunately at the end of the list of our delay process. We are not happy about it either and very sorry. We informed customers that we made a decision NOT to take the quick fix and sub out shutters to a China manufacturer of inferior quality. We have stood by quality and USA made for years and was not going to change that. Fortunately, we are strong company and large enough to “power through” this as best we could. This would have put many companies out of business and shutters would have never been delivered. Our facility is back up and running and we are about caught up now on our delayed production and are now continuing to provide our customers with the absolute highest quality shutter made in the USA, bar none!

I received a flyer in the mail that said Arizona Blind's prices couldn't be beat and that they would beat any reputable companies prices with a written estimate. Since we are new to the area and had no personal recommendations, we decided to use the flyer and check them out. Our house is very large (4000 sq. feet). We are working on the main level and the master bedroom first. I filled out the form online and Debbie promptly called me on Monday morning to set up an appt. We decided on Saturday Sept. 21 at 10am. She even called the day before to confirm our appt. I had two other estimates done earlier in the week, so I already know what I want and the look that I am going for. When Debbie walked in 10 minutes late she looked around, complemented my home and said she would help me pick out what would look good in here. I told her I'd had 2 other estimates done and that I know the look that I want. When I told her I was interested in the woven wood for our kitchen, dining room area, she said she didnt have her woven woods book with her. She said her office was close and asked if she could run and get them...Why she didnt come prepared to show me all my options, I don't know...... I told her I like the Alta line. She quickly shot those down as not being good quality and suggested Hunter Douglas, which was more expensive. We have no problem spending money on good quality products, but she didnt tell me why Hunter Douglas was better, she just said they were. She suggested a honeycomb shade that was the same color as our wall paint, which is a white, cream color. I told her I wanted some contrast there and that I liked a brown color in the blackout shade. I then showed her the sample I had of the woven wood roman shade that I liked. She said it was too dark for my room and proceeded to show me the selection she had. I didnt like her pushy personality. I didnt pick any of them, so we moved on to pricing. She said she would price one of my windows in the hunter douglas honeycomb blackout shade she had. When the price was well over what I had been quoted from another company I let her know that her price was more, her tone became defensive and she asked who the other companies were. I told her who the other company was and she proceeded to bad mouth them and try make them seem like they weren't worthy and they are inexperienced. It made me very uncomfortable to hear her turn nasty like that and it honestly made her look bad. She then went on to say its like comparing a Kia to a BMW. I told her I was quite pleased with the other company because their customer service was excellent. They were very professional and knowledgeable. He spent 2 hours with me measuring and going over options. Plus their selection was great and he gave me my estimate right on the spot. She was completely out of line and unprofessional. I couldn't wait for her to leave with that nasty attitude. **This is an update to my original review and a response to Arizona Blinds. I am not upset that Debbie had opinions, everyone has opinions. I had a problem with her lack of customer service skills, tactfulness, professionalism, and overall persona. If I want to spend my money on a certain product, I don't need a sales person trying to talk me out of it because they personally don't like it! Being an "interior designer" for 6 years does not make her an expert on "trends and styles" and pushing her personal tastes on me surely can't be what Arizona Blinds advocates! That's unprofessional! I am the customer spending the money. I know what I want and I know what I like. I don't need a pushy sales person or a company that thinks it's an expert to tell me what I like. If and when we have any problems with our Alta blinds, which I doubt because they are excellent and exactly what we needed, we will not use Arizona Blinds. Any company that replies with a smug comment doesn't deserve my business. Thanks though!

Debbie is one of the kindest, sweetest, soft spoken designers on our staff. She's been an interior design for years and has been with Arizona Blinds for over 6 years. Everyone loves her. I'm sorry you're upset that she has opinions on what is good product and what isn't. She also has opinions on what looks good and what doesn't. That's her job! That is part of what we do. Being in business for 20 years kind of, maybe, makes us a bit of an expert on the brands, trends and styles available out there. We could sell any brand we want, but we chose the brands that have proven themselves over time. Alta brand blinds are not generally of great quality. Cheaper, of course. But they won't last. Hunter Douglas shades will last a lifetime and there's some very definate attributes that make them worth a little bit more. We will be here to service any problems you have in the future so if there is anything you ever need please don't hesitate to give us a call.

The shutter was replaced due to an insurance claim and was organized through my contractor. I was told the order would take approximately 8 weeks. (order placed in April) After original measuring they sent a second person for a technical measurement. I waited approximately 8 weeks, and received a call telling me they had some production issues and my order wouldn't be ready for a few more weeks (July). A few weeks later I received a call to schedule an installation. The night before, approximately 5pm I received a cancellation call as the door wasn't ready and told I would be called the next day to reschedule. I didn't hear the next day, so I eventually called to follow up. Eventually, I was scheduled for the middle of August for a morning appointment. After waiting until 15 minutes after the scheduled install time and no one had showed up I called and was told they had a delivery issue and would not be coming that morning but possibly in the afternoon. They didn't come in the afternoon either and I didn't get a call back as promised. Over the following weeks, I had to call numerous times to try and understand where my shutter was and when it would come. I attempted to cancel the order through my contractor, but we had already paid--he got involved and eventually we got another installation date for the end of August. The installer showed up an hour early, so thankfully I was home since he wasn't meant to be there at that time. Needless to say, the order took 4 months to complete, and I had to constantly call the office for updates. I was highly disappointed in the time delay, and complete lack of communication from their end and frankly would never use them again.

[member name removed], I am very sorry for the delay in your order. We were nothing but honest in that our factory had a major occurance take place that was unexpected and we were forced into moving our facility and in the process had to sub out factory space and it was extremely dificult. The positive, if there is any, is that our new facility is now capable of producing more and producing a better quality product for years. Thank you so much for your business. very smooth, no pressure, all contacts with the company provided accurate information
Description of Work: Reviewed current window coverings and made recommendations for 6 rooms I was interested in. Measured my windows for cellular shades. Prepared a quote based on fabrics I wanted. Offered to let me take a book home to review with my husband. 3 weeks later I ordered over half of the coverings. They came in earlier than expected, were installed quickly and professionally.

We have been needing blinds for our kitchen eating area since we moved into our house. It is a challenging area with six panes of butted glass and we did not want six panels of shades with cords hanging down. We also did not want the look of drapes, which someone else suggested. Arizona Blinds consulted with us to find a good solution - motorized blinds. They worked with us to find a solution that worked and the cost was much less than other ideas that other vendors had proposed. The blinds are now in and look great. The motors are battery operated, which I don't look forward to changing. Installation was quick. The motors work fine and do the job. We also had them change some clunky shades in our casita and are very pleased with the look of the Roman shades they sold us. The only issue is that the installer was a bit messy, leaving some debris behind and chipped paint on the drywall under the kitchen shades. It's a small area at least.
Description of Work: Good guidance, good blinds!

A cord on my levelor blind was broken and they quickly replaced it. I avoided the charge of $50 for a home visit by taking my blind into the store. They were very quick in replacing the cord.

The job was perfectly done. They fit perfectly & work perfectly. They're not cheap-looking & work the way a good set of blinds should work. It's exactly what they said it would be. Part of the area covered was circular so it wasn't easy either.
Description of Work: We started working with them in August. They put new blinds in 4 windows.

They would not send out a person for estimates. Since we were expecting to pay $10,000-$20,000 for the job, i feel that they lost out.
Description of Work: I was disappointed to find out that Arizona Blinds no longer serves Green Valley. I don't know why. I tried to put N/A for the "Overall experience" but it wouldn't take.

Response from Arizona Blinds
I hope you found a good window coverings company to take care of you in Green Valley. We just don't have the personnel to service that part of the state. It's unfortunate that you would go so far as to give us an F rating because of that. If you need a recomendation for a window coverings dealer in your area, please give us a call back.

Arizona Blinds was very responsive initially and had someone out to measure and give us a bid within a couple of days. They estimated 6 to 8 weeks for our shutters, after which we did get the bedroom shutters installed. However, apparently the estimator had mismeasured for the bathroom shutters and it took an additional month to get them made and installed. If you are on a tight schedule, I would definitely think twice about using them. Also, though the office gives you a time frame for installation on a particular day, bank on the crew being at least two to three hours late. Overall, we were not in a huge rush, so the delays really didn't affect us. The quality of the shutters are excellent overall.
Description of Work: Making and installing of painted wood shutters for both the master bedroom and master bathroom.

They did a good job, did it on time and stuck to the pricing they originally gave us. They came in, did the job and were out the door. They were good but it took about a week after we ordered the blinds for them to arrive from the manufacturer to be put in.
Description of Work: I used Arizona Blinds to put a bunch of plantation shutters on my house.
