Ben is a "really cool dude", to use the modern vernacular. As the sole owner and worker in the company, he is very professional, knowledgeable about all phases of swimming pool operation and maintenance, does what needs to be done, but is quite quick, honest, and ready to tell you what doesn't need to be done (or unecessarily charged for), either. Quite refreshing to find this quality in a businessman. Ben started up his own pool maintenance and repair service after working for several years with other pool companies. I look forward to seeing Ben arrive each week. He enjoys his job and enjoys friendly conversation and interface with his customers. When I recently bought this house, one company was giving me estimates in the thousands of dollars as to what would be needed to "get the pool back in shape". I then had Ben, with A Balanced Pool, come out and I asked him the same questions as I had asked the first company. The estimates of "thousands of dollars" from the other company became only a couple of hundred dollars for Ben to do the work. He fixed a few leaks with some fitting, fully checked out the pump and told me it was working "fine" (this was the same pump the other company wanted me to replace), and repaired a few elements in the earth filter (rather than wanting to install and relocate a whole new one, like the other company suggested). Ben comes every week and lets himself into the back yard through a locked gate with the key I gave him. Ben does not "over-add" unecessary chlorine and other chemicals to the pool. And his moderate use of chemicals in the pool water, along with keeping the pool well swept and screened, results in a far more balanced chemistry and beautifully clear water. Ben's prices are quite reasonable and I am very happy to support this independent businessman in making his small company successful. My brother-in-law, who has a pool of his own and lives within 10 miles of my house, recommended Ben to me for my pool and he has been quite happy to use A Balanced Pool for his maintenance requirements for several years now. I would highly recommend this particular pool service to anyone else on the northwest side of Phoenix.
