The first ordeal was that there were many days during the construction that there were 1, 2, and sometimes 3 weeks at a time that there was no construction when the work was started. During that construction when the home was not enclosed there was a lot of rainy weather, and during the 3 week time I was concerned about leaks and water damage to the wood. There was no protection or anything to prevent the rain water from damaging interior walls and flooring during the construction phase. There was no roof to prevent damage and there were no excuses or effort from the contractor, nor explanation of why he did not try to prevent any further damage. He worked at his own pace. The house was supposed to be finished in December of 2007, but it ran over into May of 2008. That cost us financially because we had to pay a daily penalty on our construction loan until our house was finished. Now that the house is finished, we are starting to have warranty issues. Some of those issues included drywall seams cracking over the paint. We had to hire a drywall contractor to come out and fix the seams, and we had to repaint about 20% of the interior space drywall. We have a custom home, and 3 of the rooms in our home needed repainted because the roll marks and brush strokes were showing through. We have 2 gas furnaces that did not work 2.5 years after the completion of the job. When I called the sub contractor to come out and fix the furnaces, the sub contractor refused to come out because he was not paid for the job by Slade. When another company came out to fix the furnaces, they found building material stuffed in the duct work of the furnace which blocked the heat from coming to the house. The 2 air conditioners were not used until the summer of this year. Those air conditioners did not work and the sub contractor would not come out again, because Slade did not pay him for the job that they did. I had to hire another company to come in and rewire the circuit board, and all that came out of my pocket. We have about 400 square feet of outside deck, and the sub frame of the deck was not treated or painted and is now rotted. I have to disassemble the deck and replace that sub frame on all of the decks, which again is coming out of my pocket. There is a sub contractor that did the rock and landscape material, and this week I have him coming out to do additional work. He told me that Slade did not pay him for the work that he did, and he and Slade were childhood friends. We also have concrete siding on the exterior walls of the house that were not installed properly. The concrete siding has numerous cracks and I am going to have to have another company come out to repair and replace the concrete siding. I have all Anderson windows and door, and several of the Anderson doors, sliding and regular, were not installed properly. I had to pay another person to come out and make those doors operable because Slade was unwilling to do so.
