I hired The Carpenter's House, Inc. April 22, 2008 to build and install base cabinets, a custom desk area and custom table. We had a verbal agreement that this job would be finished and installed by the end of May 2008. I gave them a deposit in the amount of $5600.00 approximately half the cost of the job. They failed to complete the job by the end of May 2008. Six months passed, at my insistence The Carpenter's House gave me a completion date of October 10, 2008 in writing. They failed to meet that completion date. They started installation of the frames of the base cabinets and desk area October 14, 2008. I was told by the owner that day that they would be back at the end of the week to finish the job. They never returned. December 30, 2008 - 8 months had passed, as the homeowner I considered the job abandoned. I hired a new contractor (Kirk's Construction) to finish the job and filed a law suit in the Justice Court of La Paz county. Civil case #CV2008-0119. The total cost to finish this job with a different contractor was $9743.15. We went before Judge Charlene S. Weis of The Justice Court of La Paz County April 8, 2009 and I was awarded a judgment of $3961.29 May 27, 2009. The Carpenter's House failed to pay the judgment. We had a hearing with Administrative Law Judge Winston of The Registrar of Contractors September 11, 2009 and currently are waiting for his recommendation to The Arizona Registrar of Contractors. He did tell Duane Click of The Carpenter's House at the hearing that he recommended he pay the judgment or his contractors license would be revoked.
Description of Work: Cabinet building and installation was what I hired The Carpenter's House, Inc. to do in my home.
