Vince Merlino Concrete & Masonry

I would have to take a mortgage for the work Mr. Merlino would have performed. I suppose if you have a fat wallet he'll do a good job as he has had many customers. When the economy is in the toilet because of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., then all bids must go accordingly. If not, move onto another estimate! I was given an estimate, but the price tag demanded a mortgage loan. Israel was AMAZING. He managed all the masonry and excavation and does beautiful work. I could build a house on that footer! He cleaned up every day and was very detailed in all work completed with the masonry. He was very professional, polite and a joy to work with. He was punctual every day, ensured safety throughout the projects (including blocking off the pool and covering rebar for safety). His crew was great...it couldn't have gone any better. The flat work crew was a different crew, and although not as professional or down-right amazing as Israel & his crew, they did a good job. There were a few issues with details, but all in all still a great project. Regardless of weather, labor or any other issues, Israel worked his tail off to keep on schedule, even bringing in a weekend crew of 6 masons and 3 tenders. There was some work that wasn't done as agreed, but it was outside the scope of their normal work and kind of a "toss in" that was way more work than they had realized (moving TONS of river rock...what a PAIN), so I can't really hold it against them, especially with how pleased we were with the wall. We have a beautiful, artistic, modern block wall, build on a super solid foundation, lots of rebar, tie ins, and beautiful details! The exposed aggregate. patio looks great, is sloped correctly and drains wonderfully. The modern walkway I designed was executed exceedingly well with amazing detailed edges (although the two guys that came to take off the forms hacked them up a bit. Vince immediately sent someone out to fix them and they looked beautiful again.) They were all easy to work with and the price was really good. I got exactly what I wanted and more than I expected.

Left 2 VM for a quote in a 5 day period and never got a return call.

They worked on the inside and the outside of my house. The amount of work they did was phenomenal. They were super and I will definitely use them again.

Came out and reviewed our project then gave us an estimate via email. His bid was not the cheapest but very reasonable. Once he was advised that the job was his, he started the job two days later. After his crew had started working we asked him, in addition, to repair the front walkway (we had forgotten about it until after he had bid on the other work). He agreed to the additional work and charged us a very reasonable price on the repair. Very friendly and professional.

Vince is great! He is upfront. Does what he says he going to do. On time, on schedule and professional. Everything we were looking for. He poured a large dog run pad for us. He is currently bidding on several upgrades to our new backyard hardscaping project.

Vince was easy to work with and listened to what we wanted. He was on time and did a great job. We are very happy with his work and would definitely recommend him

Vince answered the phone when i called came out the same day to inspect and get an estimate, Vince gave the estimate before he left and when i ask when he could do the work he said when ever he gets the GO. He started and finished the next day.

Vince came to my home in July, checked out the job and sent me a quote. It was the best of three so I authorized the job. Two days before the job was to be done a windstorm damaged my roof and I had to postpone the job, Vince was very courteous about the delay and when I finally recovered from the roof problem in October, I called Vince to do the job and he came over and did the job without renegotiating the price. Vince and his crew showed up on time and proceeded to demolish the wooden ramp as well as the original concrete walkway. They formed up to pour the new ramp and had it poured so quickly that I didn't even notice when it happened. He included a requested four inch pass through pipe under the doorway to provide for sprinkler piping and wiring for Christmas lights etc. When they finished the ramp they collected the old ramp and rubble and completely cleaned up the area.

Service was great. I called left a message and got a return call that day. He bid the job over the phone and described what he would do. Although the price was a bit higher then other places I could tell he knew what he was doing based on my research. He showed up on time with a crew of 4 and they motored. Got the job done in a few hours with 1 guy staying back making sure it was smooth. They did a very nice job.

Vince (the owner) came out and he did a great job explaining how the job could be done, when, and how much. I felt so comfortable with Vince after he came out that I just told him "do what you think will look great" (I had also reviewed his work on the website). Vince also gave us a break on the front sidewalk. Everything looks great. Great customer service, very nice people, and they did a great job cleaning up the mess. I'd definitely both recommend and hire Vince again to do more work.

Vince and crew were here right on time and did an excellant job. The project turned out even better than we expected. Vince and crew were carefull with the existing landscaping and cleaned up afterwards as if they had never been here. Great job!

I contacted Vince after reading the many excellent reviews on Angie's List. He answered his cell phone right away and he came to my house and provided a quote for a new section of patio on the same day. His crew arrived right on time on the scheduled day. The workmanship and the crew were excellent and obviously skilled. The concrete was then salted to match the existing original patio. I would highly recommend Vince Merlino Concrete & Masonry to anyone.

Called Vince, he was driving so he would call me back. He did call back within a few mins. I told him what I needed done with my house and he referred me to a company that could provide me with a list of people who do exactly what I needed done. New concrete or such is his best area. Thank you for the help in guiding me a good direction.

I originally asked for an estimate for stamped concrete, and Vince talked me out of it due to the added expense (around $7.50 sq ft vs. $4.50 for flat work, requires annual sealing, can be uneven, collects water). I was glad he did. He did a nice job with the flat concrete, the diamond pattern cuts look great, and it saved me a lot of money. I wasn't expecting him to be able to move the sprinkler line and valve box, but this was a nice added service he included; however, his crew did install the valve backwards and I had to tell him about it, and he did then fix it correctly. They also had to cut a metal fence post, remount it to the new concrete and weld it back together--done about as well as could be expected given the age and somewhat rusted nature of the fence. The colorizing came out fine, but it was hard to predict what this would look like. He didn't have sample concrete to look at, and I would have needed to go to another site to look at this. We chose to just pick a brownish/red color and hope for the best. It worked out ok and I'm happy with the color, though I had expected it to have more variation for effect (it's pretty uniform throughout). Overall, Vince's team did great. They were prompt, definitely know concrete and how to do it right, and at a price that was better than expected. I'm really happy with the patio.

The whole process went smoothly. He and his worker showed up on time and dug out the area for the pad. The area was filled and smoothed and looks great. I would definitely use them again. They were professional, prompt and did great work.

They poured a patio and a slab on the side yard. I don't think they could have done anything better. They were very professional and when they left everything was the way it was when they go here. I was very happy.

They did the bulk of the work in two days (Tues, Wed), which involved removing the old concrete and original patio beam footing, then re-setting the patio beam in a new footing. Let the concrete cure and returned on Friday to remove supports and forms.They arrived when they said they would. The work was done well. Jim, the supervisor, checked on everything and made sure that I was aware when they had to leave for supplies or when they were done for the day. Very pleased with their work.

They did what I thought was a very good job. Their price was competitive. They did the job in two days. The quality has held up so far.

We contacted Vince. He made an appointment to come to our house to discuss the project. Vince was on time. HE spent 35-45 minutes discussing the project. He did not take any measurements. He said he would get back with us with a per square foot price. We have not heard back from him since he left our house. It has been 2 weeks now since we spoke to him.

Vince came out right away when I called for an estimate. After discussing the project we wanted to do and asking us a few questions he gave us a quote on the spot. He was always sure to keep us up to date on the project and we were never left wondering when he was going to be finished or what was going on. Vince himself was on site every day of the work and ensured the quality of his crew's efforts. He was also open and flexible to a couple of additions we wanted once the work had already began.

Great owner, great crew. No surprises. I had to change the start date at the last minute and Vince was very flexible. I would definitely use his company again and have referred him to friends and co-workers.
