Was completely unsatisfied with the outcome and the customer service provided by this company!
Description of Work: Lone Mountain Concrete Review: I recently had a Semi-Custom home built by one of the well-respected builders in the valley. Overall, the Builder did a very good job on the construction. The Superintendents cared about quality and were well experienced. Also, most of the Sub-contractors were top notch. The concrete Sub-Contractors (Lone Mountain Concrete) I was less than impressed by. In fact, knowing what I know now, I would not personally hire this contractor to do a 5’X5’ sidewalk panel replacement in front of my residence. So, for a little about my background and experience in the construction industry. I have been involved in Civil Engineering construction field operations for over 40 years with approx. half that time spent Supervising and Managing an Inspection Team for probably the largest Agency in the Valley. I am an ACI (American Concrete Institute) Certified testing Technician who passed all testing with a perfect score. I also hold an ACI Concrete Finisher Certification and have facilitated training classes for concrete Inspectors for over 20 years. I know a bit about quality means and methods for concrete placement. Other than to say that I personally would never use this contractor, I will not be saying anything negative about them. I will however provide the facts to my experience with them, provide pictures, and let you draw your own conclusions. A few months back I added a 20’ X 17’ concrete slab to my new home by change order through my Builder. After Lone Mountain had prepared the subgrade under the concrete, I checked it with a stringline, and it was over 1” too high in the middle reducing the concrete depth to less than agreed to. In their defense they may not have been completed with it and ready to pour. Regardless, I corrected the grade myself. Weather conditions were warm and the subgrade was very dry. Based on my experience, it is very important to water down dry base material in this condition prior to concrete placement to avoid the dry material pulling water from the concrete allowing the concrete to hydrate too quickly. I arrived early Monday morning and the concrete was already placed. Knowing how dry the base material was, I asked the Finisher if they had soaked down the subgrade with water prior to the placement. He said they had. When the finishing was almost completed, I asked the finisher if they were going to take some sort of steps to cure the concrete, maybe as simple as placing liquid membrane (curing compound). He said they didn’t do that. I told him would you at least be leaving the wood forms in place for a day or so to help the concrete retain the moisture and hydrate a little more slowly. He said they would. I went back out about an hour after the concrete was finished to find that they had already removed the forms, leaving the exposed edges of the concrete to the warm and windy weather. I figured OK I will give the concrete a few hours to take a good set and would try to mist the top of the new concrete with water to counteract the lack of any effort to properly cure the concrete. Within two hours after finishing the concrete and before I could even begin to mist the concrete, a significant horizontal crack appeared most of the way across the slab. Since the crack did not go all the way from edge to edge, I believe it to be shrinkage cracking caused by premature removal of the forms, no steps taken to properly cure the concrete, and possibly improper moisture conditioning of the base material prior to pour. Knowing that shrinkage cracks often aren’t structural nor do they penetrate the slab entirely, I asked that the contractor at least come back and inject epoxy into the crack to try and avoid it getting worse. They told me, through the Builder’s Superintendent, that they viewed the crack as being acceptable and had no intention of doing anything with it. I believe the value and quality of a contractor is measured by them doing the small things to ensure the quality of their work and providing the customer service to try and make their customer happy. I observed no effort on the part of this contractor to look out for their customer. Their finisher did a decent job finishing the concrete but what good is this effort if you have no intention of protecting your final product. I’m adding picture so everyone can determine if what this contractor believes is acceptable cracking will also be acceptable to you. It certainly is not to me on my new home.

Outstanding. This work was completed last summer and since then I've meant to log in and convey the GREAT work Stacey and his team completed. For a single home, this was a large job. Concrete patio pours for the back and front plus both side yard walkways. I was the owner/builder for my home and had the opportunity to meet a lot of great contrators and some...not so great. Stacey - he takes top honors. My home is in the foothills, is large and has some fantastic views. I mention this because it's important to point out. We experienced a lot of contractors that price you based on what they 'figure' you're worth' rather than how hard you might have personally worked to build your own house. We call it the 'chaching big house upcharge' look a contactor can give you. I never had that chaching feeling from Stacey. He priced very fairly. But here's the important part. We poured in June/July last summer and there were problems with the finished product. When Stacey came out to take a look, sure he wasn't thrilled, but he stood behind his work in a VERY BIG WAY. Frankly, I was blown away by his demeanor and desire to do the right thing. For our project, it meant jack hammering out and repouring the backyard patios. My patios look fantastic, it's been 9 months, no cracking and the sloping for drainage is right on!
Description of Work: 1. Rough in ~100 ft of channel drains for backyard patios 2. Finish grading, form patios and 75 feet of steps 3. Pour 3,800 SQ of colored concrete with fibermesh. 4. Finish being sure to properly slope for drainage towards channel drains
