I hired Clint to build a garage, after he was not able to effectively obtain a permit (I was told the project would take three months total) after seven months I fired him. He refused to return the balance of the deposit for work not performed. Stay away, he'll be nice to you art first, but the second there are issues, he'll ghost you. Not only a terrible contractor, he's a bad person.
Description of Work: Partially submitted for permit and draw plans that had several errors I had to correct.

I needed to get estimates for repairs to defects in my newly built home by a different contractor in 2010, which I purchased for $430K. I called Clint Schuler and he came out the next day. He informed me that he would have to charge me $60 an hour to write up an estimate and that it should take him a couple of hours. I had never heard of a contractor charging for estimates before, so it struck me as odd, but I was in desperate need of bids for repairs. After 3 weeks and not hearing from him I called and left messages to no avail. I then got his cell number from a friend who had just had a custom home built by Schuler and sent a text message asking when the estimates would be finished. Again, after 2 more weeks and no response I called a different contractor. |It took 2 weeks for the new contractor to come out as we were deep into July by this time. However, the contractor from did not charge me and the following week had his subcontractors, his experts, come to my home to look at all the defects and get me estimates which totaled $20K. The new contractor was very responsive and attentive to my needs, unlike Schuler, despite the busy summer building season. I would not recommend Schuler Custome Homes based on my experience. I was extremely disappointed in his unprofessional behavior of not responding to my repeated messages and I do not believe it is prudent to charge a fee for estimates, a service in which no real work is performed to correct the defects. No other contractors or subcontractors I've contacted have charged for estimates.
Description of Work: I tried to get an estimate from Schuler Custome Homes.

He did not ask for the money at the time of his visit, just informed me that it would probably take him a couple of hours to write it all up. After 3 weeks and not hearing from him I called and left messages to no avail. I then got his cell number from a friend who had just had a custom home built by Mr. Schuler and I sent a text message asking when the estimates would be finished. Again, after 2 more weeks and no response I called a different contractor. It took 2 weeks for the new contractor (Master's) to come out as we were deep into July by this time. However, the contractor from Master's did not charge me and the following week had his subcontractors come to my home to look at all the defects and get me estimates which totaled $20K. The whole experience was horrible. Mr. Schuler's attitude, demeanor and professionalism is a blight on the building and construction profession.
Description of Work: We hired Mr. Schuler to build a home on land we had purchased and had a construction loan. The construction progressed very slowly, due to other projects that he had going at the time. If we questioned any aspect of his work, it would lead to a screaming argument by him, and an attempt, by him, to intimidate to the point it was difficult to impossible to communicate with him. The work progressed, until his obvious mistakes, cheap material, untrained labor, and code violations became intolerable. At that time we fired him. Several days later a visit to the house revealed marked destruction in the kitchen and other areas of the house, where cabinets had been ripped from the walls, all doors and baseboards had been removed from the house. The whole process of having Mr. Schuler attempting to be a contractor was a nightmare from start to finish. I cannot stress the horrible experience of attempting to deal with this person. I spent at least 50% more on the house above the original estimate to fix his errors and shoddy work. Since living in the home, I have found additional errors that have required replacement or correcting. The septic had to be completely replaced, furnace replaced, floor joists replaced, floor supports replaced etc. The biggest error uncovered was that Mr. Schuler of Schuler Custom Homes built the home next door on 1/3 of an acre of my property. The property line ran through their living room, kitchen and garage. The well for the house next door was on my property. Mr. Schuler did not check the survey of property lines or markers prior to building that house. This error took a lot of trouble, expense and the establishing of a new development (Curtis-Vogel subdivision) to get this rectified.
