One of the most impressive experiences we've ever had with a contractor--showed scrupulousness above & beyond the norm. We have had Stacy at Prime Roofing as our roofer for 10 years, fortunately mostly for minor maintenance stuff. This past April needed some general maintenance--loose clay times, etc.--so requested an estimate. The rep mentioned he also noticed problem w/a skylight, so we agreed to replacing it. We assumed it would be the same type of glass/acrylic we had, which was white/opaque to cut out harsh AZ sun, so we never asked. Estimate specified a "smoke" skylight, which we assumed was a synonym for white. After installation it looked like a pretty clear one and it sure didn't block much sun or heat, and our A/C thermostat got a megadose of sun for several hours/day, causing the A/C to work overtime. I spoke w/Stacy about this apparent misunderstanding and was prepared to have to plead our case to get it switched. NOT NECESSARY: about 10 seconds after I described the problem, without batting an eye he said "we'll switch it out". That happened a couple weeks later, but somehow the replacement, although tinted, was still too clear and the thermostat was still going nutso. So I emailed Stacy this time, and because some of the misunderstanding could have been from us, I proposed we split the cost to finally get the opaque one we needed. Again, NOT NECESSARY. He said "we'll take care of it". And today they did, leaving a "happy" thermostat and a couple of even happier customers. Use a different roofer? Fuhgettaboudit!!--I'll call Prime again next time.

Simple. Very frustrating and need to hire another company to finish. Do not use Prime Roofing.
Description of Work: Do not use this company. Estimate missed a lot of areas on my roof that needed attention and when workers were sent , they were not given enough time to do a professional job of the repairs outlined in the estimate. Very poor quality job. I need to hire another company to come out and redo their work, plus complete areas in need of attention.

I noticed some broken and loose shingles after the storm and wanted someone to check entire roof for any other damage that was not apparent from just the shingles. Another company gave me a different estimate, promised pictures of the areas they said needed repair and never followed through - except for pressuring me to accept a high quote to replace the entire roof. Also, Prime was a referrence from a friend who had used them to replace her entire roof. She had obtained three quotes from different roofers and hands down decided on Prime. The inspeciation, written quote, schedule for the work, and work itself was a seamless process.
Description of Work: I noticed some broken and loose shingles after the storm and wanted someone to check entire roof for any other damage that was not apparent from just the shingles. I think they could have recommended a lot of unnecessary work but they were very honest and then prompt in coming back to do the work. They came out afer my call and came out then to inspect --it was pretty prompt especially given the volume of work going on with the storm. Then I received a written quote, emailed to me to review and accept or reject. I accepted the quote and promptly got an email back saying when the work was scheduled. On that date, workers came out and did the work, as promisted.

Overall, the experience went well. There was a leak in our roof and they were prompt in arriving to fix it. The price was reasonable. I'm satisfied with their services.

Stacy Benson, my contact at Prime Roofing (and seeming head honcho although he doesn't list his position on his card), was recommended by an associate of the company who built my gates, Action Gates. Initially, I was pleased with the selection, color and patterns of roofing tiles. But when installation began, problems arose. They killed several of my plants by carelessly discarding the old roofing debris. They left a roofing nail on top of one of our A/C units that worked its way down into the grill and caused a very loud vibration. I had to call a repair tech out who charged me a trip charge to do a 2-minute job with a pair of needle nose pliers. I honestly thought the unit had a serious problem until they told me it was a roofing nail stuck in there. Stacy said he'd cover my expenses and subtract it from the invoice but never did. Then the leaks began. A few months after installation, we got our first monsoon storm and I went into the attic just to be sure there were no leaks, because that's why we had the roof replaced. Right away, I noticed that there were several sections of the roof with no wood underneath, just tiles thrown over a few feet of open space at a time. And I also noticed that the insulation was wet in various places, predictably. I contacted Stacy who sent out his crew a few days later to repair the leak and install any missing wood. Well, they did neither. Leaks continued and wood was still missing upon subsequent inspection. Called Stacy again and he said he'd be out personally to make sure it was done properly. He instead sent a foreman and crew. This time they did fix all the missing wood and said they sealed the A/C unit. Next storm, I found rain coming in again downstream from the A/C unit. Called Stacy again, he said he'd have to send out his "A/C guy" so they could lift up the A/C and shore it up underneath and seal it properly (which I was assured last time, by his foreman, had already been done). Nope. The Winter Storm of '10 saw more rain coming into the attic this time directly underneath the A/C. Emailed Stacy and he replied by saying he'd show up personally to make sure the problem was fixed. And he didn't show up. Stacy's attitude throughout has been very nonchalant. It's as if this is just typical to him and part of his day-to-day business. Definitely not embarrassed or eager to apologize and make it right. Needless to say, I've had it. Obviously, they lack the integrity and/or ability to do good work. Expecting them to fix what they've failed so many times to correct because they couldn't do it right the first time just brings to mind the old axiom about ignorance = doing the same thing and expecting different results. I still owe about $600 on the roof which I will not be paying as I will need that money to hire someone competent to fix my roof. If Prime Roofing thinks that's unfair, I can always turn over the documentation that I've been keeping in real time, including photographs, to any regulatory agency or court of jurisdiction and let them make the determination which direction future funds should flow in this very unfortunate relationship.

We have used this company before as they are able to obtain the type of tile roofing produce we need. Price was a little more than we had paid previously but included a longer warranty and heavier tarpaper. Took them a little longer than estimated but they were professional and job was done to our satisfaction Workers cleaned up our small patio area at the end of each workday. We will continue to use Prime Roofing!

Prime Roofing was recommended to us by a friend as our condo is 30 yrs old and they are one of the only companies that can still find red roofing tiles to match. They replaced bad wood, installed new felt paper, reset and replaced broken tiles and installed new flashing. They did a great job.. we did have to call them back to rework some flashing around the chimney that had a small leak when it rained about a month later. They were responsive and came out immediately and did repair the flashing and we had no further leaks. Except for this rework, they would have an all around A rating - so in all we were very satisfied.

I was not very impressed with them because they had to come out on a few occasions to correct the situation. They were not very responsive either to my calls when I needed them to come back. I will not use them again because they were not thorough enough for me.

THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A CONTRACTOR. WORK WAS STATED AS COMPLETE, BUT RAINSTORM CAUSED 2 CEILINGS TO COLLAPSE AND 3 OTHER ROOMS TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT WATER DAMAGE. THIS DELAYED OUR MOVE-IN DATE BY 6 WEEKS. DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED IN 10 WEEKS, BUT THE NEXT RAINSTORM BROUGHT MORE DAMAGE. THE ROOF WAS STATED AS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY BUT LEAKED AGAIN WITH THE THIRD RAINSTORM. I REPORTED PRIME ROOFING TO THE CONTRACTOR'S BOARD. THEY NEGOTIATED WITH THE ROOFING COMPANY TO REFUND MY MONEY PLUS PAYMENT TOWARD SOME OF MY EXPENSES. THE LICENSING BOARD FOUND MANY MORE ISSUES WITH THE ROOF THAN I KNEW OF. I'M NOW SEARCHING FOR A NEW ROOFER. MR. BENSON WAS ALWAYS POLITE, AND THEY DID REPAIR THE HOUSE BUT HAVING HIM DO THIS WORK ENDED UP COSTING ME OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES THAT CAN'T BE RECOUPED. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

WE HIRED PRIME ROOFING TO COMPLETE SOME MINOR ROOF REPAIRS AND SEAL SOME VENTS ON OUR OLD HOME PRIOR TO SALE. THEY GAVE US AN ESTIMATE AND COMPLETED THE WORK TIMELY. THEIR PRICES ARE GREAT AND WERE MUCH LOWER THAN OTHER ESTIMATES WE RECEIVED. THEY ALSO SEALED PART OF THE ROOF IN OUR NEW HOUSE UPON OUR MOVING IN. THEY WERE EFFICIENT AND PROFESSIONAL AND COMPLETED THE JOB FOR A GREAT PRICE.
