The job was to install a shower fixture. No work was done, just getting an estimate for the work. The estimate was ridiculous, and late, so I never took the bid. That should have been the end of it, but then I got a $154 bill from them for the doing the estimate, and that included a "Misc. Materials" charge for $35. I was never told there was a charge for an estimate, and I would never agree to one when there are 1000 other plumbers willing to take the work. I even called J&H to see if they had just made an accounting mistake. Nope. I think they were mad for losing the bid this was a shady way to get redress. Beware of these guys.

not very good. the plumber left many things unfinished when he left !! This was a bad job !! We will never call this company AGAIN !!! The job was a simple one and they BLEW IT !!!

J&H came out and looked at the bathroom to provide an estimate. They measured and gave recommendations to help us select a high quality Vikrell fiberglass replacement shower unit. We ordered the shower unit and the new shower door from Lowe's. When the components were ready for pick-up, J&H picked them up and delivered them to the job site. They carefully protected all surfaces in the house with plastic before beginning demo and removal of the existing unit. When the plumbing was exposed they noticed that some of the hidden connections were not properly installed which they then corrected before placing the new shower pan and wall unit. The two J&H installers who completed our job were experienced an professional, and kept us informed about the progress of the job. They completed the job in one (long) day. They even returned the next day when we asked if they could adjust the position of the shower doors. We've used J&H Plumbing for all of our plumbing needs for several years and continue to be satisfied customers.

clog was cleared. had called on Monday night. Got appointment and took off work on Wednesday. told would be here at 11 am. arrived at 1:20 pm.

Had filters changed in osmosis filter under kitchen sink but the installer didn’t have all of his equipment to complete the job. Spoke with office to find out what followup to expect, was told he would return to finish the job. He never showed up so now we have to pay another company a service call to fix the problem.

They were very responsive and came out within a few hours. The plumber suggested using a remote camera at a quoted cost of $285 to determine cause of problem. It was determined that tree roots had collapsed the sewer pipe and a section needed replacement. He then ran a small plumbing snake through the blockage to get limited water flow. We had assumed that the $285 charge for the camera analysis would have covered most of the cost of the call. But, we were charged $525. We were left with a quotation to repair the collapsed pipe but not any pictures of the problem. Apparently, the camera only provided a live look. J & H also wanted a 50% advance deposit to repair the collapsed pipe. (FYI - J & H does accept VISA but charges an additional 3% for its use.) We did not accept J & H’s repair quote and used a different plumber for the repair. Based on our experience, we would not use J & H Plumbing again nor recommend them.

I would rate them above average but not GREAT. Plumber that arrived did an average job. You could tell he didn't really want to be there doing the work.

I selected them based on Angie's list ratings. I was thrilled that they were available to come out on the same day. The quality of the work was excellent too. But, I didn't get an estimate up front, and the $1450 price seemed about $400 too high to me. Plus, the bill was not itemized, so I have no idea what the cost of any extra add-ons were (he put drip a tray at the bottom and changed out some connectors. My fault for not asking up front, but I didn't expect to get taken advantage of, especially since I said I was an Angie's list member. I feel a bit burned by the cost. So - ask in advance!

The site visit started out with Jon giving some recommendation on alternative sewer ideas, but then conversation quickly digressed and Jon began to question the approved plans and I disagreed with his assessment in which I responded with this is "per code". Jon responded "I've been doing this for 30 years" and he wouldn't do the work the way it is designed. Jon may be right, but his approach was very unprofessional and very aggressive. For that reason I would not hire J and H for this project or in the future.

At the beginning, he quoted me $1,300 for everything and then he changed it to $1,000. I did not pay him for this work and a lady from the office called and said they would have to call the police because I did not pay. I am not paying him for work that he has not even done.

Work was completed as requested however I was charged more than necessary due to the fact that the plumber incorrectly measured. He to spend extra time to get the new pipes to match up with the softener. He didn't measure twice and cut once.

When i finally got a hold of a manager I told her on the phone i want it back, and I don't feel they earned their $100 labor charge for ignoring me for 3 weeks, and what I feel was the result of their tech putting the valve body on to tightly causing the threads to be so jammed a repair company could not get them out, and my whole unit is junk. I was happy to pay to have it repaired, but when I'm told its not repairable is where i draw the line. They caused it to not be repairable, end of story. After an awful phone call with their management where i was advised I would be paying their trip charge or i would not get the equipment back I told them to keep it, because its junk anyhow and i will go to my grave before i pay a company for this kind of service. So basically at the end of the day all J & H pluming did for me was come to my house and steal my water softener. DO NOT give them your business.

It took over 3 hours for the technician to respond by phone. I was told by the person at the store the work could be done, but the technician said he could not do it.

Jon was nice enough, but his estimate was ridiculous. He wanted nearly 5 times what two other plumbers estimated the costs to be, $1000-1075. He totally missed that on vent was unnecessary and could be removed entirely. It felt like I was trying to be ripped off.

The person who was on the phone said I could not receive plumbing work from them any time this week or this weekend even if I called and paid for their 24 hour emergency service.

Fantastic. He was friendly and very, very efficient even though it was the middle of the night. He was a complete professional. Even made sure I received the discount for Angie's List membership.

We contacted these guys because they had an 'A' rating on Angies list and were local in Mesa. They were fast to come out which was nice and charged $400 for the service which took apx an hour and would have been faster if the guy new what he was doing. It was fixed so we thought, until it backed up again less than 24 hours later. We called them back and they said that was not under any kind of warranty at all and there was nothing they could do so in an emergency we contacted another company " George Brazil" and they came out and fixed it for $100. We have had no problems since and also found out at that point we were way over charged. I have had great luck on Angies list except for this company! This is my first review I have posted anywhere and it took something this bad to do it! I have no idea how these people have and "A" rating on this! Would stay away from this company for sure!

The flexible hot water pipe from the water heater was leaking. Mechanic diagnosed the issue immediately and replaced the faulty section of pipe. Total time on the job approximately 30 minutes.

Prior to my service, J & H Plumbing requested I send photos of the fixtures I wanted replaced and of what I wanted to replace them with. I loved this because it gave me reassurance that we could do this with just one service call. On the day of service, Adrian, the plumber sent by J & H, took a look at what was to be done and stated that the Price Pfister hardware I had purchased could not be installed to replace my Moen hardware without tearing into the wall and replacing the valve (which I didn't want to have happen). THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD TO ME BY THE PERSON REVIEWING THE PICTURES I SENT IN ADVANCE. I am not a plumber, so when I hire one, I expect them to do their due diligence to inform me. Adrian left without charging me (because he had done no work and knew I would be calling J & H back after I had returned my Price Pfister hardware and purchased Moen); however, he returned to my house minutes later saying that J & H was requiring him to charge me for a service charge ($62.50 after my $10 off coupon). If J & H would have informed me of this hardware match-up necessity in advance, this service call could have been avoided. Four days later, Adrian returned to install the hardware. On his invoice, he stated that his work was tested and was "OK." I was charged $319.45. We left to go out of town shortly after the install and did not have a chance to try it out until we returned a couple of days later. When my husband tried to turn on the faucet for the shower, it was nearly physically impossible (and he's a pretty strong guy). I called J & H, and they sent Adrian out again. This time he replaced a cartridge in the valve, and we were charged $169.30. On this invoice, he stated that it was not related to the work done a few days prior. If Adrian had truly checked the faucet when it was first installed, this service call could have been avoided. It was NOT "OK." I have used J & H Plumbing for several years and have recommended them to my neighbors and friends. Because of my great frustration this time, I wrote a lengthy email to Jon Hopkins, the founder of J & H Plumbing, explaining every detail and asking him to reconsider the charges we paid in light of the facts. He said the things I brought up were out of his control. I asked him to restore my faith in J & H and the goodwill that existed before this latest experience. Instead, he blamed me for buying the wrong brand of hardware (which he should have verified before the service call), and told me Adrian was honest and truthworthy and that the faucet worked fine for him when installed. I also am honest and trustworthy. I am not hard up for money whatsoever and am not distorting the facts to get reimbursed. However, I cannot stand silently by while being treated unfairly, so here I am. I'm scratching my head here about something Jon said on J & H Plumbing's web site: "I always consider the customers, and I don?t take advantage of them." I feel very "un-considered" and taken advantage of. No more J & H Plumbing for me.
