Imperial Windows & Sunscreens

We replaced 15 windows and 2 exterior doors. After meeting with 3 window installers, we learned that there are multiple approaches to replacing windows in existing homes. Choices ranged from removal of the existing windows but leaving the existing frames ( a less expensive but effective approach used by one of the nationwide installers we had bid on our project) to removal of the existing windows and frames completely. Bob at Imperial provided us with a lot of information regarding the pros and cons of these different processes. Ultimately, we elected to go with Imperial because their goal is to make the new windows look like they are part of the original structure. Their process did take about 3 days and involved removing the old window frames completely. This was a dusty process but, in the end, the finished product has exceeded our expectations. While Imperial was not the lowest bid we received the quality work performed by Imperial was well worth the cost difference.

Imperial windows arrived on time. Kept everything clean as they worked. The owner, John Uptegrove came over to look at the work just as the 2 man work crew were finishing up. We liked that we had director contact with the owner. No middle man to deal with. We plan on using them again for the next phase of window replacement. We had our handyman over this week and he was so impressed with the window replacement that he took down Imperial Window info to refer others to them.

Excellent. A month out, we agreed to have our 23 Windows replaced. John told us he planned to start March 23, 2016 and it would take about four days. He started on the promised date and finished four days later. We were missing a screen from one Simonton Window for which they continued to send the wrong one. John continued to press them for the correct one and delivered it to our home. The old aluminum Windows were removed completely and the new Simonton Windows replaced with minimal damage to the stucco and then caulked in to complete the job. The installers were very professional and cleaned up after themselves. I subsequently painted around the Windows and over the caulking not more than two or three inches around the Windows. We are very happy with the quality of the Windows, installers and Imperial Windows. We love the Windows and wish all contractors were as good.

John is the consummate professional. He came in and showed us a couple options, of which is one where he uses a deeper frame and covers the entire window with one screen and uses dividers for dimension. WOW! Every neighbor was impressed to the point of coming over and complimenting the job. One neighbor now "hates" me because he had his done the traditional way with separate screens for each pane, and loves the look of John's method. He was all over the rebate paperwork which actually brought the cost down to $1700.

In his initial visit, John showed us the effects of different screen densities on the light level in the house. He measured all the windows for which we needed screens and correctly noted which windows needed which density. He also gave us an estimated install date. They worked around our busy Summer schedule, splitting both the order and the installation to accommodate us. They were prompt, arriving on time and completing the installations as estimated. At the end of the job, they helped with the correct SRP rebate paperwork for qualifying windows.

Their prices were so reasonable that I had him replace all the screens instead of just the ones in the front and they helped me to obtain my rebate through the local utility company. The screens were custom made and took about two weeks to manufacture.

I couldn't recommend John and his company any higher. We are so pleased with our new windows and French sliding door. They not only look fantastic, but we immediately noticed a huge sound and air quality difference in our home. These are beautiful windows, and a high-quality product that definitely look professionally installed. John was very knowledgeable, friendly, and responsive from the time he gave us the quote for the work until the time they installed the last window. John and all of his workers were prompt and quick to respond to any questions we had, they even went out of their way to make sure they completed our daughter's bedroom window first at our request so that she could have her space back as soon as possible. During the quote, John was extremely knowledgeable about the products out there and was very honest with his opinions on what would work best for us, without overselling us products that we didn't need. The entire crew made sure to clean up after themselves every day they were here, so that we barely knew any work had been going on when they left. The last day John was here, he made sure we were completely happy and he had answered all of our questions before he left, so he could ensure any issues were taken care of immediately. I doubt we will ever need to replace our windows again (because they are so beautiful and we expect they will last for decades to come), but we would recommend John and his crew in a heartbeat to anyone who does need these services!

We had John do sunscreens for us on the east side of our two story home on 6/15/12, in the amount of $602. He made and installed 9 sunscreens. He was punctual, professional and very courteous. He came with examples and different options, and was clear about the process. He was just about the same price as another company, but I preferred the way he made and installed the screens over the other company. There were a couple of screens that were radius, and would appear very difficult. They turned out beautiful - really a work of art! He filled out all the SRP rebate paper work and made everything so simple. On 11/08/2013 we were so pleased with John's earlier work we also had John fabricate and install 'stand off' golf sunscreens on the majority of the west, south and north widows, in the amount of $1689. They were constructed very sturdy. Much sturdier then others I had looked at on the internet. As with the first time purchase everything went perfect! I can't really say enough about his professionalism.

I found him to be very professional, enough so that I almost went with him even though he was 15% higher than the other guys.

I got estimates from 2 vendors and Imperial was the lowest. John also spent a lot of time explaining the process and what my options were and what was required to get the utility rebates. He explained how the color of the screen affected visibility, and that I didn't need to do every window to the get the rebate. He was punctual and very professional. So far the screens are working great - saw an immediate drop in my electric bill. NOTE: I noticed that the two vendors came up with different measurements for the window screens and I didn't ask why - turns out this was due to a difference in how the screens were screwed into the window frame. I would recommend watching the installer as they measure the windows during the initial quoting process and asking questions about how the installation will be done. In retrospect I might have done the installation differently.

All went well. The work of demolition, removal and installation of new windows and door was according to plan. The workers estimated one and a half to two days but the job was completed in one. Everything works and looks very nice, a substantial improvement.
