Green & Trim Landscape

Set up initial meeting. Didn't show up, didn't call, and didn't answer my follow-up call.

Contacted Green & Trim landscape late last night to get the ball rolling on some much needed yard work. Received a response within 2 hours, which impressed me many ways being so late and after business hours. I gathered from that Daryl Brown takes pride in his work and it's not just a 9-5 job to him. I asked him for a free estimate and he responded by giving me his number, email, and what time he was available (which, I might add, was all week). When I responded this morning, he informed me he didn't service my area, but if there was anything else I needed help with to please let him know. I am so bummed to not work with Daryl and his crew. Referring him today to a good friend of mine in Mesa. While I can't comment on his work, it felt pleasurable communicating to Green & Trim. I am so impressed with this I feel I should share my experience. I feel like they are working for me. Whatever happened to this kind of customer service? Maybe there is hope that some businesses still know how business is done. Green & Trim Landscape certainly does.

Daryl the owner is friendly, understanding and follows the wishes. Ovr hte years we had several landscape companies, but he is just the best. Reliable and concerned to do it right

Daryl and his crew showed up on time, performed the work with competence and efficiency. My wife and I love it.

Daryl was prompt, courteous, professional and was able to point out items that I overlooked that needed attention. Though I did not immediately go forward with his services, he left a great impression on me and I may contact him in the very near future to address certain items from his bid.

Our home is 20 years old and badly needed refreshing. We especially needed help with a low laying area in the back corner of the house that floods and maintains standing water. Daryl suggested a dry well, which is a large hole filled with rocks to accommodate drainage. Then we needed a complete refreshing of the front yard, with lighting, cement pavers with brick overlay for the driveway and reshaping of approx. 60 ft. of large river rock. We included a valve and watering lines for three bushes, mounding 4 areas, delivery and distribution of approx. 15 ton's of various rock. We did not include any plants, but have decorative rocks that needed placing throughout. We had a tight budget but Daryl figured out a way for us to get everything we needed. The partial wall around the pool cool decking was thrown in at the last minute. It wasn't in our budget, but Daryl donated bricks from another job they recently completed and just charged us for labor. It's gorgeous! Daryl's crew is amazing. George is the foreman, with 8 men in his crew. He is friendly, helpful and communicated with us frequently and made sure everything is exactly the way we wanted. He works right along side his men at the same time. This job was completed in 3 days, just before the monsoons hit. This was important because of the standing water issue at the side of the house. The dry well looks great, and handles the drainage perfectly! I have to mention the extra work the men had to do to dig the well. We recently removed 2 large ficus trees in this same area. The roots were thick. The men worked in teams to remove them, for an entire day. I thought the rocks would be able to go around the roots, but they did the job right and removed every root. Re-distribution of the large river rock in front went to the dry well in back. The men had to hand lift every one into wheelbarrows then roll quite a distance to the well. This took at least 10 trips back and forth. Then they completely reshaped the river rock in front adding smaller rocks to even it all out. We ran short of smaller rocks. Daryl picked them up himself and delivered them in his truck. Daryl and his team are a finely tuned pleasing machine! Daryl came over every day to see how things were going. The front yard is refreshed beautifully. We love the lighting (LED pathway lights and spots) and the beautiful way they re-designed the river rock run. The mounding adds a professional, beautiful finished look to the yard. By the way, Daryl had a special on the lighting. It was included at no charge! We need more work done in the back, but right now the wall around the cool decking adds an upscale elegance to the yard, and the dry well works beautifully. When we can build our budget back up to finish the back yard we will call Daryl, George and crew back in a heartbeat! Great job, guys! Thank you so much!!!

It went great. The crew chief, George, had a great sense of humor, ability to understand my concerns and act on them without question. In fact, the entire six-man crew were all great. Hard workers who clearly have worked together for a long time; they were a well-oiled machine. All materials were delivered as scheduled. The only hitch with the materials (gravel) was that it was the wrong size. I asked for 3/4", but we got 1/2" instead. It was not a huge deal, so I did not say anything to Daryl or George. George went above and beyond in some areas. I had a leak in the existing irrigation system in the rear yard, near where the new paver path was going to be installed. He spent some time trouble-shooting and repaired it before they installed the pavers. He said he wanted to make the repair was done before it became an issue (i.e., after the path was completed). He even fixed one other irrigation line leak not even close to the work area. Near the end of the project, one of the guys knocked over an existing landscape lighting fixture, and the wire broke. George and Daryl fixed it AND all the other non-working landscape lights in the rear yard. Again, this was above and beyond the scope of the project. Because the job was completed during the hottest and driest time of the year, some of the plants (mostly succulents) were not able to become established and have died. Daryl has agreed to take a look in October, when there's a better chance of survival. I think he was implying that he would replace the dead plants -- the right thing to do. So many neighbors have complemented the new yard -- we just raised the home values on the street. I would definitely recommend Green and Trim!

I called Daryl this morning as a new customer needing a quick response time and boy did I get it. Lucky for me one of his men was in the area and went by my listed home for sale and repaired a leaking valve to the irrigation system and because it only took his guy 5 minutes he did it no charge and sent me the photo of the repair. Now that's what I call the ultimate in customer service. I will use him on all my listings and refer him to all other agents and my clients needing a great landscape company. He sold me for good!

Crew arrived first thing in the morning, worked swiftly but efficiently trimming shrubs, pulling weeds and cleaning up fallen leaves. Cleaned up after themselves.

Daryl gave me a quote, he put some extras in there to what he thought would look nice and I appreciate that, some things I kept and others I did not. Daryl told me this would probably take a full day and possibly run into a second day. This is exactly what happened. The workers showed up as I was leaving for work, when I got home from work the transformation was almost complete. The finished product looked great! The tree I was quoted for was larger than the one placed in the ground. I contacted Daryl and asked if this was mis-communication or of something changed. Daryl apologized and corrected the issue right away. A few months passed and I had some questions about how to prune the tree and the color of some of the plants and he swung by my house and chatted with me and took the time to explain these things to me. Overall Daryl is a great guy who I really enjoy working with. I plan on doing my back yard soon and would like for him to have the opportunity to do this as well. I recommend this company to anyone.

I called Green & Trim Landscape and left a message. Mr. Daryl Brown returned my call the same day and I explained that I had 3 trees (a plum and two ash), 2 in my backyard and 1 in my front lawn that were planted 3 months prior. The person who planted them left the pole tied next to each tree in place but did no further staking. I told Mr. Brown that I had lost 3 trees over the past decade due to wind damage--the most recent being a 9-yr. old lemon tree that was approximately 13 ft. tall. Then I asked Mr. Brown if his company staked trees. (I had recently scheduled another landscape firm to take care of this and they had told me they would "fit me in" around other jobs. Then that firm had never shown up at the agreed upon time nor had they called to cancel. I suspected my small job was considered less valuable for that company.) Mr. Brown assured me that they could and would do the job, scheduled it for May 16th between 10 A.M. and 12 noon, and at 12 noon a member of Green & Trim's crew showed up and took care of the job. I walked the gentleman around to each tree explaining how I wanted the staking done (3 stakes per tree with adjoining wire) and asked him to removed the poles currently tied to each tree. After his work, he and I again walked around so he could show me the work and he asked if each was okay. The trees were securely staked and I was pleased with the job. Mr. Brown called me after his crew member arrived at my home that day to confirm that his man had shown up and that everything was going well. I told him it was. I can't stress enough how much it meant that Green & Trim took my job as seriously as a big job that might have cost a thousand dollars. I felt that my satisfaction was foremost in the mind of the business's owner and the worker who staked my trees that day. The company was prompt in returning my initial call for information and in keeping the agreed upon appointment.Quality work was performed at a very fair price. I am a happy customer.

They did a very good job. They did the work properly and quickly. The prices were very reasonable.

n working, and were very accommodating as we have dogs which needed to go outside from time to time!o her needs also. It went extremely well, and very fast. They did many "extras" including resetting the water pipes in the front in a much better way, and organizing several rocks that we had. They cleaned up every night and when they were finished did a thorough clean up. They were friendly, fast and efficient, and listened to any changes we wanted along the way. Both front and back yards look wonderful now ~ night and day! We recommended them to a friend and Darryl Brown has been attentive to her needs also. The plants and trees they brought were of excellent quality, the brick edgings on the grass were immaculate. We couldn`t be more pleased! Delighted with both back and front yards.

I did not get a say in it. When I questioned him he said if I pick out my own stone and vegetation it would cost more. I sent him a msg Feb 16 asking if tree removal was included in the price and he never responded. How can a person stay in business if they don't respond to potential customers?

Great! Daryl and his crew did a fabulous job. They arrived when they said they would, did the job they agreed to and did it quickly. Daryl sent a big team to get a big job done in a little time, which I appreciate since my dog barks non stop when people are in the yard. I am really happy I found Daryl on Angieslist and I will be using him for our monthly maintenance from now on too!

Daryl was responsive and easy to work with. I needed the service done on short notice and they were able to accommodate me. I arranged the purchase of the granite and the company I chose was not able to deliver the new stone until later on the day of service and Daryl went out of his way to accommodate me. I would recommend.

The team arrived on time and did what was needed. Checked my Irrigation system...and cleaned up my yard! Great work....

The delivery of the gravel was made in the morning. In the afternoon the crew showed up to begin work. Worked commenced quickly and in a couple of hours they were done. They even touched up other areas that were outside the agreed upon work area and pulled weeds too. Daryl Brown showed up at the end as the crew was cleaning up. They swept the area completely, removing any excess gravel dust and debris. When they were finished the area was cleaner than when they started. All together I would not hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to others.

Added items to bid that I did not ask for. Was not impressed when he came to see the extent of the work I wanted done. Did not take measurements, draw diagram of yard or take notes.

We pretty much told him we are going to go with him and he did my additional quotes and clothes and cleared lot of things for us and do like redesign and then something came up when we decided to not go with him. It wasn't anything that had to do with him though. It was just like some of our friends decided just to help with that with it, but so he went completely out of his way for pretty much nothing and he was very very mature about it. He was very kind and it was so professional of him. I think he would have done a really good job if I hired him. His price was very comparable to other landscapers, but I still felt like it was high, not like ridiculously high, but it was little on the high end. He was really nice person. I would use him in the future.

The price was very resemble.Thay stared wen that said thay would, and complated it right on time. The men were vary professanol, polite and did exelant work I highly recommend this company, and will use them again.

Daryl, as last time, exceeded my expectations. I noticed that the drip system in my backyard had stopped working. I called Daryl and asked him if he could come take a look at it, as I had already tried to manually run the drip station that ran the backyard drip, but it wouldn't come on. All the rest would, but not that one. He came out the next day at noon. Showed up right when he said he would, I walked him through all the troubleshooting that I had done, and next thing I know, the crew who installed the drip arrived. I was so happy that they were the same guys! Since they had done the work the first time, they would be familiar with the way it was set up. They dug up the valve, did some testing, then promptly replaced the solenoid, tested, it worked, but not as well that they wanted. They then replaced the valve and wallah! The system worked. When I asked Daryl how much, he told me not to worry about it as he replaced the yard just a couple of months ago. Thank you Daryl!

The initial scope of work was to have the topography changed to slope away from the house instead of towards (status quo) for stormwater retention. Contractor conducted work, but it did not have a slope. Although I did not consider the scope of work completed, contractor came back to check on the work and agreed to fix it. Again, was not completely satisfied with the second attempt, so contractor agreed to come back again to fix it. I'm very impressive with professionalism and customer service.

It did not go well. The first day the crew scalped the existing grass and started bringing in additional dirt. The sod was delivered that night, was not covered or watered. The second day the crew finished scalping and adding dirt, started hand leveling the dirt and laying sod which was now yellowing and dry. The third morning they finished laying the sod and left. They replaced all the sprinkler heads although we asked them not to. The quote included purchsing 30 tons of dirt which we provided at no cost. The end result is the yard is much more uneven than before and the grass looks much worse. The owner was on site very briefly during the project. We are very unhappy and do not feel we got even close to what we asked for. We wish we had just been told that this project was outside of their area of expertise. We don't want this to happen to anyone else.
