Darryl, the owner was professional and courteous every step of the way. He communicated with us regrading any question or problem. The company worked hard to fulfill all aspects of the job. The pavers were extremely well done and we were pleased with all aspects of the job.

It went well; removed trees and planted new ones. Did a yard cleanup.

Daryl came out and spent a good amount of time learning about what I wanted to achieve and came up with some great ideas to create a very tranquil, park-like environment. The crew arrived within a half-hour of the scheduled time. The cement tear-out took longer than expected, but the depth of cement was 8-10 inches, rather than the usual 4-6 inches, so it was not unexpected. the plantings and drip system upgrade went well, although there was a little issue with the drip system. Daryl came back right away and fixed it, though, so I was very pleased with the outcome. In addition, there was some incidental removal of existing gravel in the front of my yard and my neighbor's, but Daryl replaced the gravel and made it look great!

They charged us what the estimate was, they came on time, and the owner was there for the estimate and the planting; it wasn’t just turned over to the crew. They were very responsive and they had good ideas about what to do.

Daryl and his crew did a complete renovation of our backyard. We live in a townhome so the yard is not large, about 900 square feet. The landscaping was old, tired, and outdated. Daryl removed every plant and all the weeds. We only kept a Palo Verde tree that we had recently purchased, and a rose bush. He also removed an old fountain, all of the aging brick and stone borders, and all the gravel, taking the yard down to bare dirt for a fresh start. Daryl then applied a preemergent over the entire yard to help prevent the growth of new weeds. The transformation began with a coating of sand-finish stucco and paint over the interior of the block wall surrounding our yard. That alone made an amazing difference in appearance. Next came the laying out of a new travertine path from the Arizona room to the side gate, including an area wide enough to serve as a small outdoor patio. The crew also installed aritifical turf in the center of the yard that looks incredibly like real grass. Twelve new plants were planted and two new trees added for additonal shade. Mounds were created to make the topography more interesting. We were only expecting one new tree, but the place where he bought it had a buy-one-get-one-for-half-price sale, so Daryl generously added the extra tree to our landscape at no addtional charge. Finally, we took advantage of a coupon Daryl had on Angie's List that gave us five free boulders. Again going above and beyond, because we wanted small boulders, he gave us six. Finally, a brand-new timer controlled drip irrigation system and drip line to replace our 1960's version was installed. In the end this was not a renovation but a full tear-down and reconstruction, with spectacular results. For the first time since moving here 18 months ago we are enjoying our backyard. Besides performing high-quality work, Daryl and his crew were complete professionals, on time and hard-working. He is the easiest guy to work with, cool and calm, knowledgable in all the areas we needed him to be, open to our ideas, and offering great suggestions along the way to expand our vision, creating a backyard beyond what we had imagined.

Probably the biggest reason I've trusted and relied on Angie's List is to avoid unresponsive contractors. I'm not sure how this company has such a high rating if they are so unresponsive and completely indifferent to potential new business.

They were very nice, helpful and I feel like I got my money's worth. I think their pricing was fair. I will use them again in the future.

Called, requesting an estimate for yard work to be done. Call back was timely, within 30 minutes, and came out to give a free estimate the same day. We considered the estimate to be high in comparison to others we received, therefore we did not choose this company to do the work.

I have been using them for the last 8 or 10 years. They charge per visit. They show up when they are supposed to. They do a decent job.

One word, amazing. My backyard looks completely different and for $1500 or so, it was well worth it. They completed the project in about 6 hours and I couldn't be happier. I will be using their company going forward for any of my landscaping needs.

absolutely no follow up or response after initial visit

Average at best. Owner, Darryl responded to my initial call quickly, 10/26. Advised that was hoping to have job completed by the end of that week. Darryl advised he wanted to wrap my job together with another in the area and that when he got the go ahred from the other party he would call back to schedule. The call wasn't returned for 3 days, after I had left town for the weekend. We finally hooked up 11/2 and set for 11/4. One of the things he was to complete was removing a small palm tree that overhung the driveway. Apparently that wasn't properly communicated to one of employees who cut the tree down they were supposed to along with 2 others. He did go and get another to replace it but I noticed after the fact that he charged me for it. Not thrilled. Real nice guy, I wish it would have worked out better.

It took sometime for them to get to the services, but when they came, they were quick, efficient and very professional. The price quoted was the price charrged and a fair wage for the work that was done.

The whole process went very well from the start. Daryl responded to my phone call within a day, and then was out for an estimate within two more. His estimate was in the middle, but closer to the lower, of the 3 estimates I got. This walkway is about 90 feet long and includes a pad for garbage bins. We talked about a couple of different design options, including possibly doing some exposed aggregate edging. Daryl was very open during the discussion and I felt he understood exactly what I was looking for. On install day Daryl and his crew of four showed up on time, completed the forms by 9:30 am, and the concrete pour was done by 10:30. They also re-routed about 40 feet of main drip lines so they wouldn't be under the walkway. This turned out to be a surprise event for the crew while they were preparing the forms, but they took it in stride and still got it done by 9:30. The end result is a beautiful curved walkway. I would definitely recommend Green and Trim again.

UPDATE: After reviewing Green and Trim on Angie's List I was contacted by the company and they came out at no charge to replace the dead shrubs with new ones, remove the plastic, move the drip lines so the tree would get the water it needed, and plant a new tree as well. With the recent heavy rains it appears that the Sumac just might make it after all. I appreciate Daryl's willingness to correct the problems I encountered. Original Post: At the time Daryl did my landscaping I was pleased because he was easy and pleasant to work with and it was so ridiculously cheap compared to some of the other bids I had received. I did have to go with him to the nursery to pick out healthy plants because most of the ones he initially brought to my house were in horrible shape, but that was really my only gripe. The price included a certain number of trees/plants depending on the gallon size. Now, over a year later, it is clear that I got what I paid for. To kill the grass in the front he covered the entire yard with heavy plastic, and now I'm desperately trying to save a giant Sumac tree that has been slowly dying from lack of water. The drip system for the tree was placed right at the base of the trunk, so none of the roots have been receiving water, and the arborist that I had trim the rest of my property explained to me that the entire root system needs access to air and water. The plastic also nearly killed the jacaranda tree I had them plant, but I so far have managed to save it by moving the gravel he installed and ripping up as much plastic as I could. When I pulled up the plastic I found random gargbage and cardboard that had been used to pin down some volunteers sprouting up from the Sumac. His crew also installed drip lines at the root of some existing pyrocantha on the south side of the house which have all since died. The sprinkler system has worked fine so far except that I recently noticed a leak in one of the heads, and my neighbor's sprinkler guy happened to be next door and came to take a look. He told me that my system was basically the cheapest stuff from Home Depot and that it would all need to be replaced within a year or two. I tried calling and texting Daryl a few months after the fact when I began to notice some problems, but never heard back. My angieslist membership expired so I never wrote a report, but now that I need to find someone to fix these problems my boyfriend and I have rejoined and thought we should share.

Daryl was punctual and pleasant to deal with. He performed the job on time and on budget. His workers were hard-working and thorough. I highly recommend his company.

Pretty good. Did a nice job on the down low items, Did not trim very high on the trees as originally discussed. If you need a company to just come in and "catch up" the yard work, then it was fine.

Daryl came out and gave me quotes for the various tasks, scheduled the appointment, showed up on time and had to come back to reseal the grout on the stone tile after it had a chance to dry. He not only sealed the tile he worked on but also sealed the grout for the entire entry way. I was very pleased with his work and professionalism and will be using him again soon.

Daryl (owner) is professional, knowledgeable and overall was easy to work with during the entire job. The crew was on time, professional, hard working and quality of work was great. I would recommend this company to anyone that is interested in landscaping their front/back yard in addition to having sprinkler installation completed. Positive experience.

Daryl came out to the house within a coupleng days of first contacting him. We had already purchased 2 pallets of flagstone, and had intended to do the patio project ourselves. However, the job proved too daunting! We also wanted some new planters built. Daryl gave us an estimate which included several different finishing options and prices. We chose to have them install the patio with decomposed granite instead of grout, and build three planters. Also inlcuded in the price were 7 tons of fill dirt and 3 tons of crushed granite. Crew came out the following week, spent the whole day working hard and got it all done. We were very pleased with the work they performed.
