Green & Trim Landscape

Daryl was great. I moved into this house a year and a half ago. The yard has been a challenge since I moved in, and I finally managed to save up for this project. I received a quote from Daryl that beat 3 other quotes that I had received from Angie's list landscaping companies. He started work the day after Labor Day and I was just shocked by how much was completed on the first day! There was so much to do, but Daryl's crew was fast, friendly and effective. The second day, there were a few discrepancies from what we had discussed, but the professionalism and the polish were apparent. Daryl came by that evening to do a walk through. We walked the property and went over all of the work. I was very impressed with the overall workmanship, but the citrus trees were planted in the wrong places, the rip rap river was positioned were the path was supposed to go, and the path was forgotten. I had asked Daryl to use a huge mound of dirt that had been on one side of my yard to create mounds for a more 3D look. Unfortunately, there was WAY more dirt over there than either of us had expected. So the mounds were huge, and the rock, over time, would have just fallen into the driveway and onto the sidewalks and the neighbor's yard. We both knew that the dirt would have to be hauled away in order to bring the height down. Unfortunately, this meant that all of the gravel would have to be taken off, the plants would have to come out and basically the work would have to be redone. Daryl advised that there would be a charge to haul the dirt away, which he had told me in previous conversations, so I expected that, and the cost was what I had expected. The crew came back out the following day and removed excess dirt, installed the path and moved the rip rap river rock to the correct location. They moved the trees, replanted all the plants, redid the drip lines and placed the rock back. When I got to see the finished project, I was thrilled!!!!! It looks fantastic! I couldn't be happier. The plants looked great so I know they babied them during the replanting. A couple days later, the plants got tons of rain from the recent rainstorms, and now they are thriving, even after being transplanted more than once. I have received many compliments from my neighbors as well. While it's unfortunate that Daryl spent an extra day, he certainly delivered on a great landscaping project, and I am a happy happy customer. I have a couple more projects that will be coming up for the back yard next year and I will absolutely be calling Daryl at Green and Trim again. Thank you!

I called Green and Trim to get estimates on our home (landscape redo) and a friend's home (who lives a few blocks away). Made it convenient for them by scheduling both estimates back to back. They called back and said they couldn't start a job for several weeks due to being so busy, and asked if I still wanted an estimate. I said yes we aren't in a hurry for the job and we confirmed a time for estimate appointment. They never showed up for the appointment, never called or contacted me. I understand they have a lot of business, but that is rude. I am bringing two jobs in, each at approximately $10,000, with no pressured time schedule. The one thing I can't tolerate is lack of commitment and poor communication. Too bad, Green and Trim.

When I came back from an extended travel, I was astonished by the condidtion of the yard. I complained to the workers and they responded ...we have to follow schedule, call the boss and gave me his card. I took photos of the yard and e-maied him. Two weeks later he responded and showed up with the crew. One of the major problems was a palm tree that was purchased and installed by him a few months ago was dead due to the drip line being cut . A water tube was not connected and spouting water so bad that we had to turn off the watering system. In the spring they put top soil on the lawn and said the grass would grow...at first in wo weeks and then to later said two months. It still has not grown and left me with mud beside the pool. He claimed that it was due to no sun but the area receives sun from noon to five each day Two weeks after I sent an e-mail with photos of the yard condition , he called and said he would come with the crew. He came and they cleaned up the mess. Said he would make good on the palm tree. He told his man to connect the water line with a patch. As soon as the water system was turned on it spouted again. I went to the local hardware and bought a conector for 75 cents and fixed it myself.... It works. On the day that they were to return two weeks later for regular service, a girl called and said they were not coming back. No mention of tree replacement. They are good at cutting grass and picking up leave. They do not provide complete yard service. Photos are available.

Daryl and his team did an amazing and thoroughly professional job. They were punctual and worked the details with the same critical eye that I would. This led to an outstanding result and a great experience.

Total professionals from start to finish: met with me at a convenient time, quoted the job quickly, answered any and all questions, scheduled and performed work exactly as described. Could not be happier and I would strongly recommend Daryl and his team, they earned our trust and confidence.

From initial contact, through the bidding process, to the installation of the patio and artificial turf...everything went very well. Darryl and his team did a great job.

Daryl and his crew were great! They had about 25 tons of stone - granite, lava rick and river rock - delivered to our home. His crew had most of the stone distributed and spread the same day. We ran short of granite, and Daryl came back the next morning and completed the job, without an additional trip charge. Angelina in the office kept in touch with me on status and scheduling, and the entire operation seems very well organized. In fact, we plan to use Green & Trim for regular yard maintenance. We were impressed.

Overall it was a good experience. Owner came out and gave a quote. Start date was a couple days after initially agreed upon but it's hard to estimate exactly when a previous job will end. Overall the job was done well. There were some issues and they had to come back 3 times to fix problems. However, they were always very fast to respond to calls for corrections and did the job very well. I would recommend them to others. I would suggest that you supervise the job to make sure it is being done as described.

Daryl Brown is a problem solver par excellence. The job was much more involved than what we had anticipated but Green and Trim completed the job and kept the same budget. The rock they removed was twice the volume and the patio needed additional work. They worked until the landscaping was completed. Daryl Brown the owner is a can-do person who is not upset with challenges. Daryl understands customer service. I would use his company again...and again.

Daryl Brown, came to our home, despite the fact that we were slightly outside his usual service area. He gave me a firm estimate only two days later on spreading entirely new gravel, lava stone, and river rock in our yard. On the scheduled day, his crew showed up on time (and Daryl was with them!). They shoveled and moved nearly 25 tons of stone and spread it throughout the property as requested. They came back the next morning to finish the job, bringing the additional stone required. Angelina in the Green & Trim office was VERY responsive to all questions and concerns. She called to confirm all appointments and let me know what to expect. I was very impressed by the pride Daryl and Angelina take in their work.

Our property was over run by large weeds. They came out with several workers and within 5 hours the property was clear of weeds. They also trimmed our trees and bushes to our exact specifications.

There was a little trouble in the beginning with scheduling and communication. Once they arrived they did an excellent job and have done so since.

I have updated this review. We need extensive clean up and I had no idea as to the cost involved in such an effort. After further research, I found that the pricing quoted was very fair.

Terrible! I want to point out that my wife and I knew virtually nothing about installing pavers and went to Angie's List and this company because of high ratings. I'm sure our initial lack of knowledge about installing pavers added to our problems. First of all, we went to a local tile company and ordered the pavers without really considering other products such as concrete pavers. The tile sales person recommended a Versailles pattern that involves using 4 different sizes. It looked great on the tile company's sidewalk. (Nothing was said about it being a relatively difficult pattern to install). First, my wife and I measured the square footage and put in the order ourselves. Then we hired Daryl off of Angie's List. We like Daryl. He is very personable and met with us at length on two occasions before his crew started the job. I now realize that he said very little and really doesn't have any real expertise about installing pavers. In hindsight, he should have asked us how we want to use the courtyards. It sounds obvious but we did most of the talking. The front courtyard has a 14 inch elevation change over approximately 22 feet. At first Daryl recommended that we eliminate the front step and sloping sidewalk. We wanted to have a sitting area in front and didn't realize how big a slope a 14 inch drop over 22 feet would be. In fairness to Daryl I don't recall telling him that while we were doing all of the talking. The contract was too vague-i.e., "remove portion of concrete walkway in front of home"-doesn't tell how much. We paid 1/2 of the estimate upfront even though we paid the tile company directly for the pavers. The job should have taken two days and ended up taking six days. His six person crew was friendly but basically untrained. (The first day I had to show them the Versailles pattern. They ended up wasting about 3 hours trying to figure it out. By then, they had laid about 1/4 of the back courtyard on the existing slighty uneven concrete without applying a sand base first. My contractor and I pointed it out to them to no avail. They simply lifted up the pavers and applied a minimum of sand to take the" wobblies out".) Daryl would be there 2 or 3 times a day but his crew did alot of busy work without thought and efficiency. During the first day, I took a crash course on line in how to install pavers. Daryl did redo things up to a point. (The front courtyard took four attempts to get it looking satisfactory. To make a long story shorter-with my contractor's help and me babysitting them we finally have a finished product that looks good but for how long.

They were on time and professional.They cleared the weeks that had come up, sprayed a pre-emergent and trimmed shrubs, a tree and cleaned up front, back, and side yards.

We were very happy with them! Their quote was lower than another bid, and they showed up when they said they would. Overall, they did a good job!

Arrival was prompt, work finished to complete satisfaction.

The work was done in a very cursory manner. The patio area was cleared of leaves, etc. with a blower, but not thoroughly.The gravel was lightly raked. No effort was made to level the gravel or to cover bare areas. Debris from repair of the irrigation system, pieces of tubing, old fittings, etc, which Green &Trim also did, were not picked up. (The project consisted of repairing the irrigation system and putting new plants in the ground. That work was satisfactory but Green & Trim brought more plants than we had ordered.)

I called Daryl and he was able to have his crew out the following afternoon. They showed up that afternoon and were very professional. It was a big job. Daryl and his crew did phenomenal work. They left the backyard looking better than it had in a long time. Everything was swept up, and hauled away. Daryl recommended another pre-emergent treatment later in the year. However he didn't try and "up sell" me with additional landscaping services. My yards were prime targets for that. He was focused on my immediate need and meeting those needs. This was my first time using Daryl and Green & Trim, but I think they are my new go to for landscaping needs.

This is the second time we have used Daryl and Green and Trim - both experiences were outstanding. Daryl provided a detailed and very competitive quote. In fact, once we added in some extras, his quote ended up being the best price. Daryl is good at responding to inquiries and concerns throughout the project. We made a couple changes on the fly, and he worked closely with us to make sure we were satisfied. His crew is hard working, knowledgeable, and professional. We love the finished project and would highly recommend him for any type of landscape design and installation. We were very pleased that the project was completed as quickly and thoroughly as it was. We love our new back yard and wouldn't hesitate to use Daryl in the future.

I called and spoke with Daryl on 02/07/2013 and he came that day, gave us a written estimate on building a new patio area, and adding onto our existing one. We set the date for doing the work for 02/12/2013 and Daryl and his crew arrived at 8:00 am and began the work. Daryl picked up the pavers for us and they had the work done and were gone by 1 pm on 02/12/2013. Daryl was pleasant and professional and I recommend him highly.

Our irrigation system wasn't shutting off and therefore I called this particular company. Left a message explaining what was happening and he didn't get back to me until the next day- mid morning! :( Our yard would have been flooded! Disappointed with this company.

Daryl was great to work with. He gave great input when planning the project. He and his crew were responsive and punctual when performing the work. The project turned out beautifully. The turf looks fantastic and the side yard looks like an oasis. I plan on using him for future projects.
