UPDATE: After 2 months of service the cost of bi-weekly service needed to change. They suggested every week service since the grass was growing faster than originally expected. I was understanding of this. Bi-weekly was $35, now bi was going to be $50, or weekly $35. I opted for the weekly, since yes the grass was growing fast. After a few broken sprinklers (I checked every week after they were here), they had suggested the overseeding process. I had them go ahead and give me a quote. To overseed, as well as de-thatch was going to cost over $1300. That was an extremely high amount! I declined the service and started to search out other sources to get this done. I was able to find the exact same service for $300. Not only that, they can, and will, be doing the weekly service for $30 a week. I'm disappointed that the de-thatching and overseeded quote, but since it was, I was able to find that cheaper, as well as my weekly service. They were average, but constant and on time. Never missed a scheduled visit. They however missed the make when it came to spray for weeds. I had to do that process every week I used them. Now, lets see if the new company will require that.
Description of Work: On going bi-weekly maintenance I have them preforming my bi-weekly maintenance. They have been to the house twice, so I will give them sometime. They did leave a note about setting my sprinkler to the proper time, which shows me they checked the current status. That is a huge plus. BUT, as mentioned, only had they out twice, will update after services become more "normal"

They estimated the entire project would take six weeks to complete. They showed up on time on the first day they were scheduled and did exactly as they advertised. The first week consisted of removal and underground preparation. This was the dirty work and involved a lot of dust and noise throughout the week. After they finished this phase, they cleaned up all areas that were not due further construction. The Mason work involved nearly three weeks and was completed on schedule. The final phase involved the watering system, lighting system, plants, border pavers, and artificial lawn. This work was completed one day early. With work completed, an inspection found a few areas that needed further attention. They scheduled two additional work days later the following week to finish up the minor infractions. The yard looks outstanding. The only reason I downgraded the price is because they are expensive. I had compared their costs with other landscapers and found others willing to do the work for less. However, when I compared the quality of work between landscapers, I found CYC was by far much better quality. Knowing you get what you pay for, I elected to spend the extra dollars for the higher quality workmanship and I am very pleased with what I have. I will highly recommend CYC for your landscaping design and construction. You will pay more, but you will be happy with the results.
Description of Work: I had my back yard completely re-done. They removed all existing plants, grass, flagstone, and concrete around the pool. They then added a new patio with travertine pavers, a fire pit and patio, again with travertine, and covered the existing pool deck with the same travertine. The work included up lighting on all new plants and lighting within the patio area. They also constructed a new BBQ grill area to include a work bench and bar surrounding the BBQ Grill. Two walls were added to hide the pool equipment and a/c equipment from view. The final touch was the addition of artificial lawn.

Work was done in a timely manner. Crew was competent and friendly. They were willing to work within our HOA guidlines without any problems. Supervisors stopped by often - once or twice a day, and stayed for long periods of time. Always came up with good solutions when the small problems arose. As clean and neat at the end of the day as possible. Their subcontractors (masons, electrician) were thorough and helpful. The mason came back several times to address some of our concerns. We had no issues with their paperwork. Their designer met with me at a local nursery twice, to select the pottery and plant material. This was a big job, there was lots of dirt to move into and out of the back yard. We had piles of sand, dirt and different sizes of rocks piled in our long driveway. It was all cleaned up (using a pressure washer) after the work was finished to our satisfaction. Even now, a year later I am still in touch with their designer as we work on the few final touches that still remain. I am the slow one, taking my time to get it right. After a year everything is in good working order, including the irrigation and lighting systems. The selected plant material is healthy and thriving. We spent a lot of money on this project and are very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Relandscaping done in back and side yards. Hardscape included adding a large retension wall, construction of a ramada structure, realignment of existing built-in grill. 5 large trellises were added. landscape lighting was installed, irrigation was added. two raised 4x8 planting beds were constructed. Flagstone steppers laid, along with a back yard gate and a new water feature. Artificial turf was installed as was a small putting green. Site needed to be cleaned up before hardscape started, so 2 trees and many shrubs were removed. Then 6 trees, 10 shrubs, numerous smaller plant material were placed in the yard. Dirt and stone were brought to the site. Met with designer several times before the work started. He never saw a concern that he couldn't address. Very flexible to making changes. A pleassure to work with.

My overall experience was excellent. They are a very good company. There is nothing I dislike about their service. I think they are one of the best companies I have ever worked with. I like the fact that they are prompt and they communicate well with me. They know exactly where I stand. They come on time when they say they will be here and do it. We can count of them. If I lose a plant within a certain length of time, they will replace it for me. I think I spent about $1100 and the price was equivalent to what I would expect to pay. The quality of their work, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism was excellent. I would continue to use them in the future; in fact, they will be coming back on the 9th of November.
Description of Work: CYC Landscaping removed four very mature and old citrus trees and replanted some new ones for me. They also replaced a couple of plants that had not made it through the real cold winter last year.

Called to schedule, they weren't able to come for 2 weeks but I wasn't in a rush. Arrived in the morning, were done in about 4 hours. Foreman was easy to communicate with, took care of all my concerns and last minute requests. Cleanup was fast and could not find anything that they missed at the end. I have used CYC before at our old house. Also signed up for bi-weekly maintenance.
Description of Work: Completely cleaned up 11000 sq ft lot after winter frost damage. Trimmed back all bushes, shrubs, ground cover, mowed grass, cleaned all gravel areas. Went the extra mile and cleaned out dead leaves from 15 canna lillies.

I met Chris at the Phoenix Home & Garden Show. I was impessed with his professional approach and knowledge of plants for the Sonoran Desert plus their care. He did a great job folllowing up with me and especially providing me a comprehensive plant selection based upon my own choices and statements in our conversations. The final drawings included almost all of my favorites and has provided a 40 year old shady landsacpe with a vibrant array of flowering plants, a beautiful water feature, and reduced the amount of grass by 1/2. The extensive paver patio is situated in the shadest part of the yard adjacent to the water feature. The crews showed up on the designated time. They were efficient and well informed. Any suggestions on my part were handled promptly and professionally. CYC guaranteed their plants and work for a year. I had them return to do additional work in my front yard including a new sprinking system and upgrade the rock. The crew cleaned up the street where the rock was piled for spreading. The street looked like new. They will come back this fall to romove some large trees. It is heartwarming to do business with a company that stands by its product and service. The customer can count on them for making the project come together at a fair price with effiency and quality. They do what is right because it is part of their business philosophy. My yard has been updated and looks beautiful plus functions effectively.
Description of Work: CYC Landscaping installed 2 new sprinkling systems, a total lanscape make over for the backyard, including a paver patio opposite the pool and a natural rock water feature, which is self cleansing, plus colored granite for the driveway and front planting areas. Nightscape lights were added around the back yard and in a 5 arm palm.

Our vision was exceeded by CYC, what they implemented and delivered far exceeded our expectations. Communication, timeliness and attention to detail were very important to us, CYC delivered on all. The crew arrived ontime and the foreman greeted us everyday to see if we had any questions. The crew work diligently throughout the day, moving the project forward even though it was well over 110 degrees during the entire duration of this huge project. During their 10hour day, the only time their crews stopped working was for water breaks or lunch. Trying to keep out of their way was a challenge for us at times, we wanted to see the progress. Everyone was so kind with a friendly nod and genuine smile. They took pride in their work, which certainly reflected in how well they were treated by their employer. We requested some unique specific work which CYC felt would be better address by a licensed contractor specializing in that skill. You can trust CYC referrals, this contractor skills, attentions to detail and communication were right in line with CYC standards. Understandable so the job site did get a bit messy, however it was cleaned up with any equipment left behind neatly put up out of the way everyday before leaving. Speaking of equipment, to do any job right the first time you need the right equipment for the job. One of many task was to relocate a 6000lb plus boulder, this was not an issue. CYC comes to the job site equipped with the proper tools for each task. We made multiples calls for bids, some licensed contractors others not. CYC was right up front and told us they would not be the lowest bid and they were not. Of the 5 bids they were number 4 as far as cost. CYC did stay on budget, yet honestly we both made adjustments during the project. We requested and increased square footage of the pavers, size and number of plants and boulders and added additional work. Each request was met with cost and immediately placed on the schedule for completion. Once the project was done ontime, the foreman walked around with us to insure everything was in place and review the different water and lighting operating systems. Lastly, he addressed the follow up visits, for watering, lighting adjustments, and the schedule to replace any plants if needed. At different times during the project Chris and John the owners, frequently stopped by to check on their crew, progress and our satisfaction. Both pointed out things I would have never noticed as wrong. Yet, the items were either changed out completely or repaired because it did not meet their standards. One of the changes improved the flow of the pavers immensely and could not have been anticipated until laid down. The skilled installer once he noticed, informed his foreman who brought it to my attention. Later that day, Chris called with several solutions and their recommendation which added an additional step and light. I went along with their advice which did not increase the material needed but did add to labor and one step light, which Chris mentioned he would pick up the cost. CYC standards far exceeds what most homeowners would gladly accept the quality of work for less. They made it right. I paid CYC to implement our vision and trusting they would do exact what they said they would do. Although I appreciate CYC willingness to pay for a the step light, it would not be the right thing to do. They were doing exactly what I hired them to do, that is to look out for my best interest. They had earned my trust, we gladly paid for the light. I would highly recommend CYC for any project you may have, big or small. Peace of mind is worth sitting down with CYC, beside its free. Most that know me, know I am a tough sell. I walk away if I feel any pressure or feel like I'm being sold a bill of goods. You know what I mean, you have to becareful with who you do business with now days. I am 53 years young and can count on one hand the number of times I have left a review on a company. I asked around and this website was suggested as a forum to express our appreciation for a job well done. We hope this has help consumers like us, looking for the best value for your dollar and peace of mind.

They are prompt and professional. If I need anything done specifically I can call the office ahead of time and request the service and when I get home it has been done to my satisfaction. My landscaping is now the best looking in the neighborhood.
Description of Work: I've been using them for regular landscaping service every two weeks for close to a year. They trim and leaf blow my desert lanscaping, and do a great job of making sure everything looks clean and tidy. I've also used them for pre-emergent treatments and tree trimming, which are not part of the regular maintenence service. They do a great job!

I contacted several landscaping companies requesting estimates for this project and couldn't believe how difficult it was to just get people to call me back and actually show up for the estimate. Apparently this profession attracts a lot of "wannabe" business owners who don't perform professionally. CYC was, by far, the most expensive quote I received, but they were also true professionals. Chris Wentland was responsive and professional. He showed up for the estimate - yay! And he gave me honest feedback about our landscaping problems and realistic solutions. The crew they sent was polite, professional and did a really great job. I have already referred CYC to family members and am happy to recommend them to you.

I am ashamed to say the work was done about a year ago, and I am just now reporting that I was/am very pleased with the whole process! The pavers created a very welcoming patio-entry to my home, instead of the former sidewalk to the door. Mike Larchick came out to do the estimate, and was very personable. He made sure he understood exactly what I wanted, and made helpful suggestions about the things I was unsure of. Several options were presented. He made a separate rough drawing for me to send to the HOA for approval, which is why there was a lag time between the estimate and the work Three young men came to do the work. One, with a clipboard, stated he was doing a time-and-motion study, but he also helped some. They completed the entire project in one full day, (supplies were unloaded the night before) and were careful to clean up everything before leaving. I have had many compliments on my new entry, including some from other workmen who have done similar jobs. The work was done for exactly the estimated amount.
Description of Work: Removed existing concrete entry pad and sidewalk from driveway to front door. Removed 2 med. sized plants. (I had already had 3 large ficus trees removed from entry way). Leveled ground laid down sand & placed pavers from front door to driveway. Replaced irrigation system for removed plants & ran it to newly created area.

The person on the phone for the initial call was pleasant and assigned an advance person to come to give us an estimate. The advance person was on time, friendly and answered all of our questions. She fit into our time schedule as well as gave us additional information about the company. Her estimate was half the price of other tree removal services. The workmen arrived on time, calling before hand. They got to work and continued throughout the whole process. All of the men worked until the job was completed. They cut the tree in sections and then cut up each section. The stump took the longest because it was a 30 year old tree. The yard was cleaned up before the truck left. There was no damage to the yard, fencing or other bushes. I would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: We called CYC Landscaping to have a very large dead tree removed. Tree height was probably 3 1/2 stories tall. It had to be cut down as well as have the stump ground down. Job was approximately 2 1/2 hours long.

I wanted to hire CYC to do a re-landscape of a rental home that I manage for an out-of-state owner and Jen told me I had to have the owner of the property physically standing there before they would do the work. This really is short-sighted and ignorant especially considering how much work is done in the valley everyday by landscapers who are hired by property managers. I hope they have more common sense on the jobs that they do get.

Response from CYC Landscaping
AS A GENERAL RULE, CYC LANDSCAPING WILL NOT DO WORK WITH ANYONE OTHER THAN THE HOMEOWNER. THE ISSUE FOR US IS THAT WITHOUT THE PROPERTY MANAGER HAVING POWER OF ATTORNEY, THERE IS NO RECOURSE FOR US IF THE PROPERTY MANAGER DOESN'T PAY FOR THE SERVICES RENDERED. WE CAN'T PUT A LIEN ON THE HOUSE, SINCE IT ISN'T OWNED BY THEM. WE COULD DO THE WORK IF THE CONTRACT WAS SIGNED BY THE HOMEOWNER, BUT WITHOUT SPEAKING DIRECTLY WITH THEM WE CANNOT KNOW FOR SURE THAT THEY WANT THESE SERVICES DONE. WE USUALLY DON'T WORK WITH PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANIES BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBLE ISSUES THAT COULD ARISE. ANOTHER CONSIDERATION WHEN WORKING WITH SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE HOMEOWNER IS THIS... PERHAPS SOMEONE HATES THEIR NEIGHBORS YARD AND THEY RE-LANDSCAPE IT WHILE THE NEIGHBOR IS OUT OF TOWN. OR THEY ARE RENTERS AND THEY RE-LANDSCAPE THE YARD AND EXPECT THE LANDLORD TO PAY FOR IT. WE CAN TRY TO COLLECT FROM THEM, BUT WITHOUT THE PROPERTY IN THEIR NAME, WE'D HAVE NO WAY TO PUT A LIEN ON THEM TO RECOUP THE DEBT THEY OWE. ADDITIONALLY, WE AREN'T THE CHEAP "ROCK & PLANT PACKAGE" LANDSCAPER THAT MANY PROPERTIES THAT ARE MANAGED ARE LOOKING FOR. IN THE PAST WE'VE DONE MANY QUOTES FOR RENTAL HOUSES ONLY TO FIND OUT THE OWNERS DON'T CARE ABOUT QUALITY WORK OR WARRANTIES, THEY OFTEN ARE JUST LOOKING FOR THE CHEAPEST BID, WHICH WE ARE NOT.

The work done by them was as nice as promised, everything looks beautiful. We are, however having a problem with the bill we received for the service. They had given an estimate of $25,000, the actual bill was several thousand dollars higher, and they never told us it would be, or why. We hope to work this out amicably.
Description of Work: They were hired to do a complete re-landscaping of my half acre or so yard.

Response from CYC Landscaping
HOW STRANGE! I CALLED CUSTOMER TO SEE WHAT THE BILLING PROBLEM MAY HAVE BEEN. SHE SAID SHE NEVER WROTE AN REVIEW ON ANGIE'S LIST AND HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE PRICE. WEIRD! HER ORIGINAL ESTIMATE WAS $21,622.28 AND THAT WAS THE TOTAL SHE WAS EVER CHARGED. WE DON'T SEND A BILL EITHER. WE NEVER QUOTED HER $25,000, NOR DID SHE PAY ANYTHING CLOSE TO $29,000. HER FINAL INVOICE WAS THE SAME PRICE AS SHE WAS FIRST QUOTED. $21K. AT CYC LANDSCAPING, WE DO NOT HAVE HIDDEN PRICES. THE PRICE ON OUR QUOTE IS THE PRICE YOU PAY! SHE WAS SAD AT ONE POINT BECAUSE SHE CONTRACTED US TO PLANT 5 GALLON PLANTS AND 24" BOX TREES AND A FEW OF THE PLANTS THE NURSERY SENT US WERE ONLY 3 GALLON PLANTS OR 17" CONTAINERS. SOME WERE 5 GALLON SIZE, BUT THEY HAD NOT YET TRANSFERRED THEM FROM 3 GALLON TO 5 GALLON CONTAINERS AND SOME PLANTS DO NOT COME IN 5 GALLON CONTAINERS FROM THE NURSERY...LIKE GOLDEN BARREL'S COME IN 3 GALLON, PIGMY PALMS COME IN 7 GALLON (WHICH IS EQUAL TO THE PRICE OF OTHER 15 GALLON PLANTS), AND BISMARK & SABAL PALMS (COME IN 15 GALLON OR 17" CONTAINERS, BUT THE 17" IS PRICED LIKE A 24" BOX WOULD BE). WE REPLACED QUITE A FEW OF HER PLANTS AND SHOWED HER THAT THE PRICE/SIZE SHE RECEIVED WAS CORRECT AND REPLACED ANY PLANTS THAT WERE LOOKING STRESSED AT THE SAME TIME. WE EVEN UPGRADED ONE OF THE PLANTS FROM A 5 GALLON TO A 15 GALLON AT NO EXTRA CHARGE, BECAUSE THAT WAS WHAT THE NURSERY HAD AT THE TIME AND WE WANTED HER TO BE HAPPY. CUSTOMER TELLS US SHE'S VERY HAPPY AND GOT HER $ WORTH.

Alicia was very kind and didn't seem to pass judgment on us for having allowed our yard get so out of control. She was even able to help us identify one unusual tree and give us tips on caring for it. As it turned out, we decided not to keep many of the items in our yard and we went a different way with our landscape plans, but I was still very pleased with CYC Landscaping in general and Alicia in particular. I would certainly recommend CYC to anyone wanting professional landscaping help.
Description of Work: Our home landscaping was completely neglected and overgrown. Alicia came and gave us a detailed quote on trimming dozens of trees and bushes and removing some of the dead items, in addition to basic lawn trimming and edging. ($1779.)
