Cook Remodeling did an outstanding job. Our house had some unknowns with the kitchen and family room floor which was over the basement. It was uneven and we all knew it would have to be leveled prior to any cabinet or flooring install. The condition was worse than anticipated but when confronted with the situation the Project Manager, Jeff Gorszczyk, addressed the problem and found solutions. As with any project of this magnitude there are speed bumps along the way. Each and every issue was identified and solved correctly and efficiently. All the challenges were discussed and addressed without delay. During the demo and reconstruction the selection process continued. Products selected arrived on time and when needed. Any and all delays in delivery were not a problem. Throughout the project Cook employees came and went as necessary. We gave them complete access to our home. Every Cook employee was professional, talented, trustworthy, courteous and respectful of our home. The professionalism of each of them was amazing and a real first for us to experience. Working with James Furzer as Project Designer and Jeff Gorszczyk our Project Manager was a real pleasure. We have dealt with contractors of various specialties and never felt 100 % comfortable with their employees or their workmanship. Again Cook was amazing.

I have already signed a contract with them. I have been having discussions with them for probably a couple of months now. They have quoted me about $25000. They were responsive and answered all my questions. I felt like they were giving me the straight scoop. When you think about anybody you are doing business with that you have never done, it’s kind of like the feeling more than anything else. I will have to first see how the work comes out before I hire them again.

My experience with them has been very good.  They had a high rating on Angie’s List.  They are very responsive.  They hire subcontractors to do their work and every one of those subcontractors has been very good.  The sales representative designed the kitchen for us, and he solved a lot of our problems.  We are very happy with that.  The quality of the cabinets that they installed is excellent.  They did 4 countertops for us, which was also excellent.  They also did our tile floor and that turned out fabulous.  When they came out to do the demolition, they were very careful.  They did everything they could to keep the dust down, and they put up barricades to keep the dust in one place.  They did everything they could think of.  They clean up after themselves.  Everyone is polite and professional.  If they tell they are going to be here, they are here.  Their price is fair.  There were very few problems on the whole.  If there is a problem, they go out of their way to fix it.

They gave us a tentative schedule and they did it in a manner that was not rushed. They had an experienced group and they did an excellent job overall. They cleaned up after the jobs were done and were very professional. The work looks great. They were quick to fix any problems I pointed out and we would definitely use them again.

They provided a very detailed bid based on my initial written requirements, this bid was then converted to a detailed contract so that everyone understood the scope of the work to be provided for the agreed upon price, this is a very important first step. The owner, Jeff Cook, was the customer interface for the bidding and contracting process which went very smooth. My project was then added to their schedule and a project manager was then assigned. The project was started on schedule, the work site was cleaned every evening, I was kept informed as to when the various workers were to be on-site for each of the project phases (concrete, framing, roof, etc) and the workers always were on-site when scheduled. This was a large project and it was completed in a timely manner given three major Holidays during this period. The workers were all very professional and courteous and were extremely experienced in their various trades. Two changes were made after the initial contract was signed (upgraded garage doors, gutters) and were estimated and agreed upon by both parties. The project manager visited the site regularly to see the work progress and both he and Jeff Cook were available by phone at any time. Jeff Cook also visited the site several times and we spoke on the phone several times, and Jeff was on site for a final completion walk around. It has been 9 months since the building was completed and everything looks just great. I am retired, so I was at the job site daily when workers were present so I saw first hand the quality workmanship that Cook Remodeling put into my project. Jeff Cook and his workers are committed to providing an outstanding product and customer satisfaction. I am positive that they were the right choice for my project and would recommend them to everyone.

Very very well. They were very professional, very responsive and kept close to the estimate. Did the work in a timely manner, had excellent subcontractors. After hearing so many horror stories about remodeling, it was a pleasant surprise to have it go so smoothly (this was the first home remodeling in my life). I had an architect draw up the plans and get the city's approval. Cook Remodeling worked off these plans and completed the work in the time they promised. I have recommended Cook Remodeling and will do so in the future.

We called them and they suggested that we don't put the doors back in there. We decided to put in a big window instead. They did the job and it is so gorgeous. It really brings the outside in. Everytime I walk by, I just smile. It is just magnificent. Everything was done with such perfection. Everybody cleaned up very well, and there wasn't a speck of dirt anywhere.

They were out at the home show. They came out to give us a bid. It was way too high. I am sure that they do beautiful work and provide wonderful service. Since we don?t have a fancy house we don?t need a fancy kitchen. They were excellent, but beyond our price range. As a result we didn?t use them. We probably would?ve gone with them had they been cheaper.

"We enjoyed meeting with the Members. They provided their budget for their kitchen remodel, and their wish list. We gave them several options on how to meet their budget, have a quality cabinet, and look of granite to meet their objectives. They wanted to add upgrades for a higher quality cabinet and granite countertop. We were within a thousand dollars with the cost of those higher priced selections."

Working with Jeff and Jeff was great - they were actually more proactive with the job than we were. The only delays were caused by the city when we were adamant about installing a fire suppression system. Jeff and Jeff were absolute troopers and helped us negotiate around all the red tape we faced. Their work was so good that a window sub-contractor (who doesn't work with Cook) was extremely impressed. All their sub-contractors were very professional and when a new A/C unit wasn't working correctly, Cook responded and had someone out within 30 minutes of our initial call in the summer. We are already planning on having them work on subsequent "phases" of remodeling. Every person we talked to was wonderful and responsive. I also believe the owner is more picky about quality than either of us.

There was very little that went right the first time around; except for the flooring that I insisted was subcontracted to avoid losing the warranty on the Bamboo. This was supposed to be a green remodel but lots of reusable stuff got thrown out anyway. Most notably the bathroom vanity top which could have been donated to Stardust. They also broke a ceiling fan shade and CFL lightbulb. We did not learn about the broken light bulb until a day later which exposed us to mercury vapor. Very bad, especially for our autistic son. They also damaged the oven cabinet on the dining room side, a sliding pocket door is now crooked because they did not want to go through the extra expense of doing it right. I also found out later that the patio door got damaged while they were bringing the old interior doors to our patio for insurance purposes. Workmanship was not up to par except for the flooring, most of the carpentry Kevin did and the drywall Alvaro did. I wished they would have re-textured all of the walls though and not just spot texture. The plumber was a disaster: needed to be redone because there were major leaks by the laundry set-up and with two toilets, where the old bolts were reused and the toilets were not shimmed properly; so the bolts broke and cause leaks around the toilets. The electrician did great work when he showed up. In the haste of getting ready for inspection, rafter holes for new wiring tore out, diminishing rafter strength. Not all work that needed a permit got done with a permit which had to be corrected later. The painting crew just 'raped' the house with their extremely sloppy work: caulking over old caulking, no cleaning prep on dirty walls, no filling of holes, careless priming of new wood (some finish painting was done over bare wood) not enough sanding between coats so dust adheres to the doors. New drywall texture was primed improperly so the final painting is uneven. Several walls were painted with the wrong color, rolled with thinned paint leftover from spraying the ceiling. No prior experience in staining fiberglass doors which are still not finished 12 months after installation thereby voiding the warranty. Subcontractor, Conrad, was given numerous opportunities to do the job right but just could not do it. He came over himself and spot painted doors after sanding them in a circular motion. What a horror nightmare; certainly not dreams come through as advertised. The job was supposed to be done in 6 weeks as to disrupt our home life no longer than necessary for our autistic son: the job is still not finished after 14 months and Jeff Cook keeps insisting I pay him more now, despite our agreement for a final payment when the job is finished right. Although Cook Remodeling came highly recommended through friends and Angie's List, our experience with them has been less than pleasant. Please help us resolve lingering issues with them so we finally can get our house in order and get on with our life. THANKS.

"Cook Remodeling has patiently persevered to complete the member's project. Regarding the towel bar, it was properly installed, and is specified to be able to support up to 50 lbs. It was pulled off the wall by a family member. Cook Remodeling put in additional reinforcement, repaired the drywall, repainted the area, and reinstalled the towel bar at no charge. The new painters that we hired went above and beyond reasonable expectations, to the point of repainting several doors four times because of her claim that they were not yet without flaws. They had been repeatedly sanded down and repainted. Because of this, we were not able to complete to her satisfaction. She told us she would call us in three months to come back so we can do more work. We are most anxious to finish."

Very well. They started and ended on time, and cleaned up after themselves every day. They were very professional and courteous. It took about a week to get done. I had thought it might go quicker, but because each stage had a different crew (i.e. drywall crew, a carpet crew, a framing crew), usually only one stage got done per day. That is perfectly acceptable, especially for larger projects. Ours was a smaller job, so there was more "dead time" between stages of the project.

I can't say anything negative about them, I absolutely adore them. They did everything that they said they would do. My wife did have a personality conflict with the one of the supervisors, but they were able to work around it. I would recommend them to anybody, and have referred them to several of my friends and have never had any bad feedback.

After researching several companies to perform this room addition, I found Cook Remodeling to be the most responsive. I was amazed how many other contractors would not even return my calls. After signing the contract in late October, they initially stated the work would take six weeks, but they had a very high quality room finished almost two weeks ahead of schedule. The project manager, Jack was a pleasure to work with and all of their subcontractors performed the work on time and efficiently. I could not be more pleased with the result and would not hesitate to recommend this very upstanding company to anyone else that needs general contracting work.

Company representatives were very customer oriented by providing a project schedule and complete statusing of the progress and explained minor variances. They were on track by meeting objectives as stated in the schedule and completed the tasks as defined, other then construction change notices we prescribed. They were very diligent in the daily progress by leaving the project area clean and free of construction debris and material. The follow-up and close project administration is very noteworthy. We had one minor glitch with the tile contractor, but was quickly and immediately resolved!

I found this company on Angie's List, of course. I called after hours, left a message and was contacted the following morning by the owner. I described what I needed and, although my job was relatively small and somewhat out of their service area, the Project Manager, Jack Broughman, came out to look at it. He was both friendly and professional. He told me that if I was willing to wait until a break in their schedule, they could accept my job. He provided me with an estimate in a timely manner and went through the contract thoroughly, making sure I had no questions. I received slightly over a week's notice when they had an opening and we agreed on a time for the work to be done. Jack accompanied the carpenters, Kevin and Mike, on the date of the work to make sure that we were all in agreement on what was expected before the job began. Both Kevin and Mike were skilled professionals. They did a thorough job and were very pleasant guys. It was a great experience.

The experience was great which is unusual for remodeling. The price was reasonable and the work was finished on time and really fast, which I think is very important in remodeling. They came on time and they cleaned up before they left. I don't remember how much the total project was. He was also very professional.

No mention was made of an estimating charge when setting up the appointment. They charged me $1,000 when they came over. I gave them $1,000. I received nothing from them. I called and asked that they send MY (paid for) estimate to me in the mail. I HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING!!!!!
Response from Cook Remodeling & Custom Construction Inc
"The member contacted Cook Remodeling and two representatives met with him and reviewed the scope of work he wished to have done. Several design ideas were shared and a rough sketch was drawn to show a solution. At that time, he was given a ballpark range of cost for Cook Remodeling to do the work. There is no charge for a ball-park estimate. The member then expressed interest in hiring Cook Remodeling. The project designer explained that a non-refundable retainer fee of $1000.00 was needed to take the next step of the architect developing a refined design drawing, and the lead estimator would obtain pricing for his project. The member was also informed that if he wished to then contract with Cook Remodeling, we would apply half of the retainer to the cost of the construction of this project. He wrote us a check for $1000.00. In the week that followed, Cook Remodeling called the Member and left a message that his proposal was ready and requesting a return telephone call to set an appointment to review it with him. After three weeks of calling him and leaving messages, the lead estimator stopped by his home, and left a note asking him to contact Cook Remodeling. We were surprised to learn of this posting. He did not return our calls, nor contact us. We have sent the member via certified mail his sketch and proposal, which he has received"

The addition of our room took place in spring of 2005. We had seen a room COOK REMODELING added on to another home in our area that we were attracted to. We talked to several people who had used COOK REMODELING and heard good things. We also looked at at least three additions they had added on prior to consulting with them. Although our actual starting date for construction was delayed some because of a believe it or not "rainy period" once they got started it moved right along. We were pleased with how the crew cleaned up at the end of each day. We were kept advised as to what would be done for a certain time period and when the crew would not be working on our project for whatever reason.
