My mother purchased a new dishwasher at Sears in early November. She purchased installation for $119.99 as well. When she was contacted about the installation by Sears' contracted installation company - American Home Services - they were so backed up they couldn't make an appointment for about three weeks. This made it after Thanksgiving, which was very inconvenient. Technician Ed brought the dishwasher out on the 28th of November, came into the house and measured the opening, and without spending any time trying to figure out how to complete the job, said he couldn't do it and took the dishwasher away. He didn't re-measure, or look over the situation, or try to come up with a solution. He spent about 5 minutes total and went on his way. My mother called a local handyman, who after discussing it over the phone told me that he believed he could install that same dishwasher, came out and measured and assured us that he could easily install it. He also said that the companies Sears and similar sellers use don't usually want to complete any but the most straightforward installations and often refuse to do the work. My mother was able to get that same exact dishwasher delivered back to her house, get a refund for the installation from Sears, which was like pulling teeth, and then have the handyman install the dishwasher easily, with no problems, in less than an hour. Very disappointing that Sears chooses installers who see problems where they don't exist, lack any inclination to try to complete the work even if it is a bit challenging, and to make their/Sears' customers happy.
