Response from Cooler Tymes
Good afternoon, We appreciate your review and feedback. When we first arrived to your house and inspected the unit, we noticed that there was a significant loss of refrigerant. Upon further inspection, we evaluated the system and determined a leak on the discharge side of the compressor. We tightened the connection to stop the leak in order to prevent further loss of refrigerant. Upon tightening the connection, we then noticed that the compressor was pulling more amps than is usual. It is at this point that we recommended a replacement of the compressor, under warranty, in order to prevent further damage to the system. The price was $400 -- yes, it is under warranty, but the warranty only covers the cost of the parts; the $400 fee is for labor. Unfortunately, as per our discussion, you decided that you should not have to pay the cost of the work since it is a newer unit under warranty. At this point, you decided to call the original company that installed the unit in order to have them perform the work, which, as you've stated, cost you $1100 more than we quoted you for the same work. It is regrettable to see that you had to pay such a high price to replace the compressor, but you did not allow us to perform the work we recommended. We sincerely wish you the best of wishes and hope that your air conditioning functions well for many more years to come. Please take care, and best wishes, Mike from Cooler Tymes
