They have been great. Our pool looks fantastic, and the price was competitive with other companies (we got three estimates, Monster was not the lowest, but their design was the best). I have found their subcontractors to be professional, and the owner to be easy to talk to. Overall I thought the process went well. Construction has taken about 2 months, and in the end we have a great looking backyard and what will be an easy to care for pool.
Description of Work: We hired Monster Pool to build a pool in our backyard, and provide some hardscape, and install a misting system on our patio as well.

The county here is very slow. But even after an issue was resolved with our fence, he never bothered to inform the county so the permit request sat inactive for 3 weeks until I called directly and informed them they could proceed At that time the county informed me that the "fast track" list Bill claimed to have paid to be on was incorrect, only home developers could be fast tracked. He had also claimed he had money on account with them and they said there were no funds in his account so we had to wait until he went down and paid. That was his job not mine to stay on top of the county. He was aware that we visitors coming and we impressed it upon him that the pool needed to be finished before Labor Day. He promised even after the permit was issued that he would get it done. Problem if you don't show up to the work site then how do you know for sure if your laborers are getting it done. Several different times he said he or his employees would be coming by to work and no one showed. We asked him if he did his own work, he said yes except for plumbing and electrical.... Not true, excavator and tile were also not his employees. I picked out selection tile, pebble sheen and pool decking at he signing of the contract, and some how he lost the tile selection so days before our visitors arrive, he has one of his laborers bring a box of samples for us to choose from. Then he arrives a little later. There were no pictures showing what this tile would look like installed and there was no disclosure stating that the tile shown was just 1 of 8 in a mixed variety. Sadly the one color that I expressly told him I did not like gray is what the majority of the tiles look like. I wake up the next morning to the tile guys installing gray tile not the mainly tan color that I chose. After addressing that with him, he admits he never worked with that particular type before. So I am stuck looking at a 39' wall/fountain feature in the color I cant stand. His "buddy" who was supposed to make the copper water escuppers takes off and doesn't finish them in the time frame Bill gave him so we are then filling the pool with water on his approval while the wall is being completed. Men are on ladders, and above the pool applying grout and mortar. Sadly it is falling in the pool. He leaves for vacation and has his brother install the jets for the in-floor vacuuming system and he broke the tool and hodge-podges the jet installation all the while the grout and mortar is in the pool. Not only do the jets pop out the first time it is turned on but the brother promises to correct it and never comes back. Keep in mind that some of the chunks of mortar and grout are still so big that they couldn't go down the drain anyway. Two weeks pass and we get called from his "office" person CJ asking for the balance of payment. After explaining to her that there were about 15 things that needed to be finished or fixed she said he would come over the next day. He didn't show up so I sent a text to his phone with the list of things that needed to be done. He claimed he didn't get it and also that his office person didn't give him the message the next week when he called wanting to collect the balance. So when he shows up with his brother and a trailer to haul off the junk that was left and finish, he still complete some things and agree to come again but we still pay the majority of the balance and withhold just a small amount. We get a call again from CJ and I tell her it still is complete. She says I am too picky and we need to pay or the warranty will be voided. We felt under duress to pay for fear that we would need servicing and wouldn't be able to get it. Well here we are we paid and still don't get the service that was contracted. He doesn't come, back we have serious issues with the in-floor vacuum, jets, he never cleaned out the water regulator, nor filled in where the electricians dug up on the side of our home, there is still a spot of cement embedded into the stones where the cement truck cleaned it self out. His workers used couple of our person tools and walked off with one of them. When we addressed several of the issues with him he used the excuses of babysitting his kids, having to fire his "best" friend for cheating him and the wife and infidelity issues. We though we had hired a pool contractor instead we had an excuse artist. In early spring, we receive a form offering Monster Pool's service. We send it back with a note asking where is the diver you promised, and to remove us from the mailing list. We were removed but not call to schedule a diver not to mention the vacuum. We have had to purchase an underwater cordless vacuum not to mention hire someone to come out and show us how to get the maximum suction out of the skimmer vacuum because the jets leave massive amount of debris in sections so badly that the bottom is gray in areas. So before submitting this complaint I emailed to 2 of his different email addresses asking him to remedy the issues and he hasn't bothered to call.
Description of Work: I had him installed a in ground pool for us, it was 38 by 16 ft. The contract was signed in May but due to other issues it wasn't started until August. He claims he does it in 4 weeks but actual "completion" didn't occur till mid September.
