An aquantint recommended Tim Malcolm construction for a kitchen remodel. Her kitchen remodel was completed in 5 weeks, under $35,000.00. (they co-conspired) Daniel Tim Malcolm claimed to be licensed, Bonded and insured. Once hired, plans accepted and retainer given, I was informed that my family and I would need to relocate during construction. What started out as a $35,000 remodel turned in to $183000.00. He, unnecessarily rented a portable storage unit, emptied the house and garage, removed our "new to us" 5 year old heating / air conditioner and ordered 2 smaller new units. I specifically said "DO NOT REMOVE my evap cooler, yet that is exactly what he did. I went to the house most days, he was gone for the day by 2 pm, according to my 3 neighbors he arrived between 7 and 8 am, he claims he started at 5 am every day. He and his crew took 3 day weekends- every single week. Tim Malcolm stated he was interest in buying my boat. I told him it was not for sale. One Thursday afternoon arrived and my Pontoon boat was missing. I could not reach Malcolm by phone. On Monday morning I confronted him and he said he changed out the ignition and borrowed it, but he did me a favor because a friend of his rebuilt the carburetor . I demanded he return it that very day, he said he could not because; " did I know that my boat is not legal on the highway because it is 10' wide. He had $32,000 of my money at that point, and he said he would return it as soon as he could order the wide load signs. 2 months later the boat was returned damaged. a few days later the house was stripped down to 2 x 4 walls, Bunker insulation was hired to insulate. Tim Malcolm said that he does not do dry wall or painting and to call him when those things were completed and he would return. In the mean time I was now left without a garage, paid him to put in a car port. He left town. The planning and zoning dept informed me that the whole project had been red lined for more than 3 months, and nothing should have been continued until the contractor completed some city requirement. The contractor, Tim Malcolm had used a non licensed electrician and replaced our Electrical panel with one not capable of capacity needed. I filed a complaint with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and found out that Time Malcolm had applied for his license 30 days prior to that date, but was not covered or licensed. The final result was it took us another $80,000.00 to repair what this FRAUD had begun.
