We are very pleased with the contractor and the finished project. We had to wait several weeks for an opening in their schedule, but it's easy to see why. The other two bids we received were higher and there was some sales pressure from those two companies (the individuals were pleasant, but clearly sales people). Buck, on the other hand, was to the point and very business like. Our questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. Knowing not so much about roofing, we asked another individual who has previously done roofing to look at the proposals; he agreed with our hunch that the Buck bid was the best. He said that Buck was doing exactly what he would recommend, and was doing it at an excellent price. The Buck crew was hard-working, pleasant and courteous, and cleaned up at the end of each day. We would enthusiastically recommend Buck Mountain Roofing to friends and family.

I had a serious bee problem and after an exterminator neutralized the colony I had Buck Hill seal the roofing seams where the bees had been living as well as other seams that could be potential places for bees as well. I had utilized Buck Hill a little over a year ago to re-roof an area over the patio. On both occasions they were prompt, courteous and very reasonable. When I spoke with the owner of the company I described mu problem and the need to have this work completed promptly as I was warned by the bee specialist of the potential for the bees to return and try to rebuild. The work was completed and the roof was sealed a few days after I called. For me, it is Buck Mountain for all of my roofing needs.

We had four roofing companies provide us bids for this project. Brian Yoder, the owner of Buck Mountain was (by far) the most responsive, professional, and thorough--not to mention friendly and courteous. He was clearly knowledgeable and there was no doubt in our minds that he knew his trade well. Though Buck Mountain wasn't the lowest bid we received, we chose this company because we believed in Brian Yoder's integrity--and he and his men did not disappoint. This roofing job was a bit of a challenge as we are doing a complete remodel of a 1965 home which had been added on to in the past. There were a couple areas on the roof that presented problems. However, Buck Mountain did not skip a beat. Like the pros they are, they resolved the issues in the roof and the end result was a gorgeous product--a beautiful roof, expertly done! Our neighbors who have been watching the transformation of this home, stopped by to comment on how nice the roof looked. We can't say enough about how pleased we are with Buck Mountain. They went above and beyond and exceeded all of our expectations. We would not hesitate to use Buck Mountain Roofing again in the future and we will recommend this company to anyone that wants a quality roofing job or repair done. Thanks, Brian, for making this such an awesome experience.

Excellent. I selected Buck Mountain Roofing based on the reviews from Angie"s list. The reviews provided not only reflected a very high quality of workmanship, but the quantity of the reviews far exceeded that of the other recommended contractors. This was my first experience with Angie's List, and I was impressed by the disproportionately high number of quality comments that reflected the type of service that I was looking for. I was not disappointed in my first experience with either Angie's list or Buck Mtn. Roofing. Without question, this was my best experience ever with a building contractor. Buck Mtn. Roofing provided a quality finished product with professional workmanship, in a timely manner, at a reasonable, competitive price. Brian Yoder, Mr. Buck Mtn., is a customer oriented professional that stands by his product, and, most importantly, is a man of his word.

They found problems with the original building as well as problems burried by the previous roofing repair company. They had to tear out many layers and underlying wood, and re-stucco and re-paint the chimney. Great job.
Description of Work: Repaired chronic roof leak where sloped tile roof meets chimney and flat roof. They found underlying problems that previous roofers had burried. They fixed it the right way, on time, and at a fair cost. It meant extra work for them, but they fit it into their schedule. Every step was explained to me prior to them doing the work. The final result is excellent.

As usual, when we have a roof issue, we simply call Brian Yoder of Buck Mountain Roofing. As busy professionals, we do not have the time to hassle with interviewing multiple contractors, re-engineering shoddy workmanship or riding herd on any contractor's crew. Our standards are high, and we have never been disappointed with Buck Mountain Roofing's quality professionalism or price. Being able to make one call for something as important as a property's roof integrity is fantastic, and that one call will always be to Buck Mountain Roofing.
Description of Work: A recent income property had a design flaw in the flat roof area that allowed water, during a heavy rain, to back up and leak into the home. As we have done many times before, we called Buck Mountain Roofing. They performed the work below: Tear off existing flat roof. Apply 1.5 gal per 100sq ft of KM Prime Base and 6" Tytex Web over seams. Cut existing scupper out and saw cut block and add 8"x8',scupper. Apply 1.5 gal per 100sq ft of KM Prime Base and 40" T1'tex Web over entire roof area. Apply 1.5 gal per sq of KM HV Final Coat (White) over entire roof area. Second Application: Apply 1.5 gal per sq of KM. HV Final Coat (White) over entire roof area.

Since 2004, Brian Yoder of Buck Mountain Roofing is the ONLY roofing contractor we would ever use. He has done four complete re-roofs, rebuilt decks and a balcony on a commercial property and corrected roof design flaws on three of the five properties we own. Brian's Architecture coursework and his years in the roofing industry provide the expertise to make logical suggestions, always with cost in mind, that we really appreciate. My husband and I are both engineers and are often perceived as "picky", but all we really expect is that a contractor provided a quality product at a reasonable price, and that is exactly what we have received consistently with Buck Mountain Roofing. Before we buy any property, we call Brian Yoder for the roof inspection. In one instance this uncovered a structural issue that a professional building inspection had actually missed. We have recommended Buck Mountain Roofing to at least six other engineering colleagues, even more "picky" than we are, and have had nothing but positive feedback. Even our Farmers Insurance agent was amazed at the quality of work and pricing from Buck Mountain Roofing.
Description of Work: Replaced rotted beams and T1-11 for a very large patio, entry and portico ;and laid down waterproof membrane before installing Titan rubber Spanish roof tiles. Brian Yoder and his crew then finished up by painting the T1-11 and all beams to match our house.

Dear Member, In response to this bad review, I do apologize for not getting back to promptly. I was actually out at your home on May 21, 2013 to do a inspection of your leak. We at that time repaired the leak area for free. Then you and your husband asked us to look over the rest of the roof. In my notes I show I stated that you needed 5 valley maintenance clean-outs @ $85 each (which would help prolong the life of the roof and keep better water flow). I also gave 2 options for the rear flat roof, one which would be less expensive and prolong the existing roof (which would be $425) and one that would carry a 10yr. warranty (which was $1200). You and your wife said you all would get back after speaking with each other. I was ok with this, it is normal and understanding. I do not believe in pressuring homeowner to make a quick decision. However, after review my phone notes I only received one phone call (June 10) which I did return. I said I was out of town with one of crews doing 2 homes, I was not on a vacation. I said I would give you a call when returning to Phoenix. You stated that was ok, you were in no hurry but would like to get it taken care this summer. Our jobs out of town took almost another week. We returned on June 18th and I got a call from your wife 2 days later asking about the written quote. I said I was trying to get caught up and would get it to you as soon as I could. We never received anymore phone calls after that. If there was numerous phone calls made, it helps if customers leave messages so we can return them within the next business day. I'm sorry you were un-happy with our service.

I'm sorry that we did not return your call and schedule a appointment in a timely matter, this was not the way we normally do business. Again I'm deeply sorry for the inconvenience and wasting your time. If you'd like we can still come out and give you an estimate. Thank you, Brian Yoder

It's difficult to say enough good things about my experience working with Brian Yoder of Buck Mountain Roofing. All discussion prior to the work being completed was handled via e-mail since I was living out of state and needed to arrange for a roof replacement on a recently purchased home. Brian arrived at my home to perform his estimate on the date scheduled. He had listened to my request for the type of work I wanted and provided an estimate for installation of a ridge vent to replace the turbine vents. He included his recommendation for additional soffit venting. In reviewing his estimate, I decided that a different type of soffit ventillation might better accomplish what I wanted to achieve. With Brian's help, I decided to use Smart Vent from DCI products. Brian was willing to work with Smart Vent (new to the Phoenix area)--some contractors are hesitant to try new things. I am very pleased with the result. Brian was both patient and helpful regarding choosing a color for my roof. Without his help in locating a sample of a new color of Oakridge shingle (Sand Castle), I would have a color on my home which would have been OK but not wonderful. As it is, I am delighted with the end result and will enjoy the color for the life of the roof. Brian's crew arrived on time and worked diligently to complete my roof within the time specified. They cleaned up after themselves and even helped me with a couple of items that were not related to the roof replacement. Everyone was very professional and courteous. I had wanted to coordinate installation of some solar tubes during the re-roofing of my home but was unable to get them scheduled during the project so the solar tubes were installed after the roof had been completed. Brian kindly came by after the solar tubes were installed and inspected the roof. This gave me peace of mind that I would have a trouble-free roof for many years to come. In summary, Quality of workmanship was outstanding; Price was competitive; Professionalism was demonstrated at every step of the process. True customer service and satisfaction.

Brian from Buck Mountain came out originally and gave me an estimate for the tile portion of my roof. He was professional, knowledgable, honest, and kind. When he was out here to give me an estimate for the tile part of the roof, I also asked him about re-coating my flat roof. My flat roof was a foam roof that had been installed 7 years ago. He mentioned that the foam roof installation was not done correctly and the coating from the roof was so thinly applied that the coating was running off my flat roof and running down my tiles. The flat roof was supposed to have a 10 year warranty, so when I called the company that had done the original installation and told them what Brian had said, they came out to recoat the flat roof for free. Brian's estimate for the tile was not the cheapest, but it was not the most expensive either. His warranty was very good, and I know he will be around to honor it. It took a few weeks for his men to come out, but they were worth the wait. The men kept the work area clean and really worked hard. Brian and his men went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. I would recommend Buck Mountain to everyone I know - I could not be happier!
Description of Work: Buck Mountain redid the tile portion of my roof (removed tiles, replaced underlainment, installed new bird stop and metal flashing, and put the tiles back down). I have a roof that is flat on the top and then has a tile portion around the sides.

My roof ended up having 40 years worth of build up. Was told initianally would be 8000$ and 5 days. Ended up being 12000$ and 9 1/2 days. They were proffesional and courteous. Believe I got a good job. My roof looks terrific, I went up every day to check it out and they didn't miss a thing plus fixed a few other things just because it was the right thing to do. I am very happy, If there is an issue during the next monsoon, I will let you know. I will say this, I have a 10 year warranty which is better than most were willing to do and I had guys who said "let me just cut out the bad spots and we"ll go from there". Foam is not the way to go. check your options. foam is so easily permiatided Not sure if that is the right word but whatever. I feel safe now. Was worth it> Have had other guy working roof since 2005 and he's been bilking me for thousands of dollars. BE Safe out there and do your homework. Bye the way, had 4 other bids and all where in the 8000$ range but you nver know whats under there now do you until its removed. I also had 2 skylights installed . Feel Finally first time a contractor came through and gave a crap about what they were doing.

Overall it was a good experience. They tore off the old roofing and hauled it away. They did a good job with the clean-up. They were able to get out to do the job within a week of signing the contract, while other companies were going to take at least twice as long. The job was finished in one day. I got about six quotes and they were in the middle of the pack. Timely communication was a bit lacking but they always got back to me. They've had to touch up a few things and they've been responsive and timely.

I called this roofing company as 1 of 3 to look at my roof because of leak damage and give me an estimate. I had a couple different scenarios and went with the lessor of the work to see if that would be the fix and it fortunately was. I went with Buck mountain because he was very timely on his follow up. He sent over an email with an estimate as he said he would and was easy to get a hold of. The other roofers I had come for an estimate were more difficult to follow up with. I do feel Buck roofing is a bit on the high side of price but they were very professional and did the job at the time promised. I would recommend them based on their professionalism and knowledge

Brian Yoder and his team, including Field Superintendent Robert, did an absolutely outstanding job of replacing the underlayment on my Monier tile roof. The total area was approximately 47 squares (4,700 sq feet) including the garage. I was very pleased with their scheduling, on time performance, commitment to excellence, quality of workmanship and the recommendations that they provided. I had interviewed 5 other roofing contractors before selecting Buck Mountain based upon their recommendations, the quality assurance they provided and the underlayment material they suggested. We are very pleased with the meticulous manner in which Brian's team performed the work. The job not only looks great, it also will facilitate a reduction in our energy costs as a result of the introduction of O'Hagin vents in the roof. We have noticed a considerable reduction in air conditioning "run time" since the installation of the heavier underlayment was completed. I am very pleased with the results of this project. Buck Mountain Roofing and Brian Yoder are superb.
Description of Work: Buck Mountain completed the follwoing tasks: 1. Replaced the existing, worn-out 30lb felt paper underlayment with APP torch Roll 2. Replaced all flashings, etc 3. Added drip edge. 4. Added bird stop. 5. Install new Solite Hip & Ridge seal. 6. Removed all debris 7. Swept the ground with a magnet to remove nails, etc. 8. The new roof is great and they did a terrific job cleaning up. They removed and replaced all the rain gutters in order to install the new wood and roofing. They did a very professional job. The only negative comment I would have would be their scheduling. They had called and left us a voice mail that they would not be out when originally scheduled due to weather delays but then they showed up at the house the next day anyway. They stopped work the first day telling us it was too cold to complete the chemical process for the ingredients but then returned the next morning when it was even colder and completed the job. I did not understand that. I think they just knew they would not finish the entire job in one day as they had told us. The workmanship was acceptable however and I would use them again if needed.
Description of Work: We had a leak in the roof above our balcony/patio. Buck Mountain Roofing came and inspected the old roof and gave us an estimate to replace with similar roof. Once a contract was written and signed they came and removed the old roof, replaced some of the damaged wood, applied the new roof and cleaned up and hauled away all the debris.

Excellent. I had two other bids prior to Brian's. I was not comfortable with either of the people who did the inspections and so came to Angie's List to find a well recommended professional. Brian's work reflected what other's had written. True test was the rain storm after they finished the work....no water into the house! I will definitly use Brian and Buck Mountain Roofing when it's time to replace my roof. They instill confidence in their customers with the quality of their work, price they charge, and speed of response to inspect, place a bid and complete the work!
Description of Work: Inspected roof for possible damage causing water leakage into the house. Correctly identified the problem, gave me a detailed layout of how he would repair and what materials he would use. Scheduled a repair date. His team arrived and worked quickly. They left the site as clean as it was before they started. Brian stopped by a couple of days later to inspect and collect on payment.

We had a minor leak in our roof which caused some damage inside the house to some drywall. Called Brian up at Buck Mountain Roofing, got a very prompt response back directly from him (not his office) as I recall. We scheduled an appointment for the next day, and he showed up on time and was quickly able to diagnose the root cause of our leak as well as point out a couple other items that need addressed. Took a couple extra days to get a quote from him (not a big deal), and in the meantime I got another quote from a different vendor. Brian's quote was significantly more comprehensive, and significantly less expensive. His quote gave me a line item view of everything he suggested to do (not just the fix for the roof). Based on this I gave him the work. The work itself was quick and painless. His technician came out and had the patch completed in a couple of hours max. Very knowledgeable and professional, the work itself looks thorough and well done, and most importantly fixed the leak! I'm having them out to do some additional work later this month. Would definitely recommend these guys over the "big name" providers in the area.
Description of Work: During this past wet winter we experienced a small leak in a portion of the roof which caused damage to the interior of the house. Brian Yoder and team came out to diagnose and fix the cause of the leak. Turned out to be some moderate damage to a portion of the flat roof, which they fixed. In addition, Brian noted other areas of damage to the roof as well as other maintenance he suggested we do.

Prior to the visit by Buck Mountain's representative we had received an inspection and repair estimate by another roofer. This roofer proposed a complete roof replacement utilizing existing roof tiles, replacing several cracked tiles, underlayment replacement and all other necessary repairs. We had no way of checking the accuracy of these findings. Roof and ladder work are beyond our capabilities. We thought it prudent to contact another roofer for a second opinion. The representative from Buck Mountain then performed his inspection and reported that no repairs were needed. He found that the tiles and underlayment were in good shape. While inspecting the roof he repaired a cracked tile and repositioned several tiles which were out of position. He refused payment of their usual inspection charge and was only willing to accept a cold can of Sprite. Since no significant repairs were effected we cannot pass judgment on Buck Mountain's work. We plan to have our roof inspected regularly and, of course, we will contact Buck to perform this service.
