Dear Member, I apologize for it had taken so long to get to your repair, we have been unusually swamped for this time of year. However we have told all of our customers and potential customers that we were back logged and would get to them in the order of received signed contracts. It is true that we had emails for a couple of weeks from you through the Angie's List message center. However it is not true that we didn't respond. I personally got back to you through the message center every time. I also had told you that repairs were used as fill ins at the end of the week when our crews finished whole reroofs. We also do repairs in order they're received, and yo had 6 other repair jobs ahead of yours. I'm sorry we couldn't get to you fast enough. We only have 3 crews, for a reason, to make sure we put out only quality work. Again I'm sorry, Brian Yoder

We, like so many people, had leaks from last summer's storms, plus the roof was nearly 23 years old. We solicited bids from three providers. One major company acted as if they were doing me a favor even to consider doing the job, which re-confirmed my feelings about big companies. Two smaller, family run companies gave estimates, and we went with Buck Mtn because they proposed to use a synthetic DuPont material with a 30 year warranty, their estimator was very straightforward, and they offered a good price. Roofing companies are very busy in Phoenix now so we had some minor communications problems and delays in getting started; hence only 4 stars on responsiveness; but this really wasn't an issue for us and the quality of the work that was just finished was definitely worth waiting for. I'm just wanting to say this is the only area where they were less than perfect. Ruben's crew worked well together; they are nice guys who clearly take great pride in their work and get every detail just right. We have had an extremely thorough re-roof, much better than the original job. It's a pleasure to watch real professionals at work. We had a small area of rotted wood to replace, and again a great carpenter did a skillful repair. I don't see how the roof could possibly leak after this job. If you are in need of a re-roof, please consider this firm. You will get a good, fair price and outstanding work quality from a well-oiled team. Oh, and they cleaned up each day meticulously. Save yourself time and go with these guys.

Brian, the owner, came and we talked about doing an overlay for a new roof. He is professional and easy to talk to. He explained exactly what would be done. The day came and his crew was also very professional, and very efficient. The job was completed in 2 days for a 1100 sq. foot home. They give a good warranty on leakage which other companies I got quotes from did not cover. I would recommend them to anyone needing a job well done.

I used Buck Mountain Roofing in the past for a leak repair and was very happy with their service as well as their price. Because of this experience, they were the leading company that I was favoring to do the job. I was impressed with their work and the job was theirs to lose. On 8/5/2014, I called Brian and we scheduled an appointment for him to give me an estimate on the 12th. Later in the same day (6th) my doctor scheduled a medical procedure for the same day (12th) as the appointment I made earlier with Brian. I called Brian on the 6th and explained the situation to him and that I needed to reschedule the appointment. Brian agreed, but said he would call me back. I never received a call from him, so I called him and he said he would call me back, which he never did. I sent Brian an e-mail asking if he wanted to give an estimate or not and he called, apologized and set the new appointment for the 14th between 9AM-11AM. He never showed up, called or e-mailed one way or the other. It is unfortunate and unprofessional that he does not return calls and that he made no attempt to contact me. I not planning to have the work done until the first week of October, but have received reasonable estimates from other roofing companies that I can select from. Not that it makes any difference to Brian, but I have multiple properties and I am also looking a permanent roofing company that I can count on to provide service to all of the properties when needed. Let me also say that I hope that nothing happened to Brian and he is fine. According to Brian, he wanted to give me another estimate. I gave him permission to come over when I was not home and email the new estimate. He did not contact me back with it. I gave him a week to do so and he did not come through. When he does quality work once the job is started.

Dear Member, I'm sorry for missing the appointment. It is not our or my normal way of doing business. We had our main foreman have to leave to go to the hospital for his wife who was very sick. They had just torn off a flat roof, which had some major wood work, which required me to go and do it because it was supposed to rain in a few hours, and I needed to make sure it got down so it didn't leak in time before the rain. It was completely my fault that I didn't call you to reschedule, I'm sorry and would still like to do an estimate for you. Thank you, Brian

We contacted Buck Mtn. roofing in late Spring to get an estimate for a new roof. We had gotten 3 other bids. Only Buck Mtn. and a crazily over-priced bid from another company mentioned needing to do stucco work for the new roof. We knew stucco work was necessary for the roof to be done properly. Brian sent us a bid with 3 options for pricing and you could select what you wanted done. We chose to do everything that was outlined on the bid. At the time of the bid, Brian said the work would begin on June 4th although they were slightly behind at that time. Early on June 4th, the work began. The crew worked tirelessly, starting at 6:00 am to be off the roof my mid-afternoon. Nearly every day a supervisor, Robert, or Brian himself were checking the work, bringing supplies or helping with the work themselves. The crew even worked a half day on a Saturday to stay on schedule. The new roof was done on June 12th. We are not roof savvy but the tiles are straight, we can see flashing where the roofline meets walls, the drains are under the tiles instead of haphazardly placed on top and the paint match for the stucco work is great. We haven't had a good rainstorm yet but with a 10-year warranty, we feel very confident our new roof won't leak. Buck Mtn. Roofing is a very professional company.

Brian repaired an area of the roof where the underlayment was damaged. He also repaired several tiles that had cracked. He also did preventative maintenance in cleaning out the corners and downward channels of our roof from tree and bird debris so that we wouldn't have issues in the future.
Description of Work: We noticed a water mark on the ceiling in one room of our house. Brain came in to inspect the roof above the area where mark was and immediately found the problem. As it was a fairly easy fix, Brian was able to immediately take care of the problem.

First contact with Brian was in early March and we scheduled an estimate. Nobody showed for the estimate and no calls. So I wrote him off and got two estimates from other companies. Then I thought I should give Brian the benefit of the doubt and give him another shot. After all, a nasty storm had blown through and all the roofers were busy. They were very apologetic and I had an estimate from Buck Mtn the next day (March 15th). The estimate was better than the other two companies and the Angie's list reviews looked pretty good. So I accepted the estimate and the work was scheduled for the end of April. The next communication was me leaving Brian a voice mail on April 29th asking for a status. They were still on a bigger than expected job and wouldn't be able to start my roof until the following week. Understandable but I think they should have communicated this to me without me having to ask. They started my re-roof on May 9th and finished on May 20th. Along the way, Brian was concerned about dry rotted fascia (which I knew about). He gave me a decent price on the replacement and painting of fascia so I had him do that while they were at it. The finished product is fabulous. Buck Mtn did a thorough and very professional looking job on the entire roof and I don't expect any problems for the next 30 years. It's a beautiful thing. I would highly recommend Buck Mtn. If they seem a bit unresponsive, try again, you'll be glad you did.

I found Brian to be the most professional and probably the most knowledgable of the four roofing company representatives I had come out, including the roofing company that re-did my flat portion of roof in 2009. His price was reasonable. The roofers were supposed to be at the house by 8 am Monday, March 10th. They were not there by 9 am, and I called Brian. He told me they had to go pick up a trailer, but they were on their way. Long story short- the roofers did not arrive until after 11 am. I found out later that these are subs that Brian uses on a regular basis, and that they were finishing another job somewhere. There is a lot of work that goes into re-doing a tile roof. They have to take off all the tile and set it aside in piles all over the roof. Then they remove old roofing paper, put on new roofing material, etc., rework all the metal work, then have to replace the tiles. The roofers worked hard, and as the roof was being worked on, I had a couple of other subcontractors on the roof for stucco issues, and they both were impressed with the quality of the work and materials in the re-roofing. The roof was supposed to be finished by Friday. There was some communication issue between the roofers and the superintendent so that the roofers did not have the additional tiles they needed by Thursday. No work was done Friday. I was told they would finish on Saturday. No one showed up Saturday morning, so I called Brian. His superintendent called me and said the roofers were on their way. Two of them showed up, but only for a short period. Seems they were again on another job. I had to change travel plans in order to still be in town on Monday for them to finish then, but I felt it important to be there. On Monday morning, the superintendent wanted me to go ahead and give him a check for the remaining half. The job was not finished, so I said I could not do that. He said they should be finished by 11 am or so. I saw no way they could be finished that soon, without doing a crappy job on the remaining portion (tile placement and paint touch up). They were already scheduled to have started another job that morning, and I could hear the superintendent arguing on the phone with Brian, because obviously the new customer was upset that no one was at his house. I told the superintendent that I did not want the roofers rushing the work, just because they were supposed to be elsewhere. There were obviously some issues with booking and communication, but that was not my problem. In the end, the roofers stayed most of the day Monday finishing my job, and finished it to my satisfaction. In general, I am very satisfied with the quality of the materials and work on the roof, and with the price. My complaints would be that Buck Mountain seems to be booking too tight, or their subs are not being upfront with them about other jobs they are working on. Also, the communication between the subs and the superintendent regarding the additional tiles needed and when they were delivered caused a delay. Also, while the subs were nice and hard workers, they urinated against the sides of my stucco yard walls. It was obvious. I had offered them the use of my bathroom, so I felt this was rather unprofessional. Perhaps Buck Mountain should have provided a portable toilet. And I felt the superintendent was not particularly professional in his actions, and although he said he had been there several times to check progress, I only saw him when he wanted checks from me, and when he delivered the extra tile. All in all, I think Brian is great, offers a quality product, knows what he is doing, but may have over-extended himself a little.
Description of Work: They provided a roofing estimate to fix just the specific problems going on with the roof, and to do a full roof re-tile job (re-use existing tile but completely redo the roof coating underneath). I went with the roof re-do, as this roof is 17 years old, has already had some repairs done, and the repairs would have been about $2400 just for some areas and the new roof was $7000 and had a ten year warranty.

Dear Member, Thank you for review. Unfortunately things didn't go as we would have liked. The employees are not "subs" however, they are on our payroll and work full time for us. When I, Brian, returned from vacation, I did some investigating to find out what had gone wrong, and found out that the foreman was finishing up a job for a family member that he was trying to help out. He was written up for the no show. Two others were terminated for urinating at the property. It is our policy that no one uses customers restrooms, not even owners or office staff, it is just un-professional. I apologize for these incidents immensely. Thank you for the work!

It was a big decision for us to have the entire roof completed. Buck Mountain Roofing completed this job with excellence. My wife and I would highly recommend this company for the following reasons... They were courteous and professional all members of this team were friendly and eager to complete the job. They were respectful, I didn't realize the amount of work it took to complete a skylight installation. They used drop cloth from ceiling to floor to limit the amount of dust. This team took special care with our property and household. While they were working one of our ceramics fell off a shelf (poor shelf installation on my part) and was broken, we received a note which apologized for this incident. In this note they also asked about how they could make it right. At the end of each work day they cleaned up the job site and keep all materials neatly stacked. Quality of their work is top notch,Bryan's team cares about what they do. Bryan is a leader of his organization and he provides clear expectations to his team. The results of this team are perfectly aligned with his vision of excellence. My family is very happy we made the choice to have Buck Mountain Roofing complete this work.

The work went very well. Our roof had begun leaking in many spots, and we were lucky that the scheduled work was started and finished during a dry period between two, heavy rains. A little patience was helpful. Buck Mountain was doing out-of-town roofing jobs in the Arizona Mountains and New Mexico a the time, so Brian Yoder, its President, was on the go a lot. Phone messages and emails were always returned within a day or two. One of our neighbors commented on the professional way the job was being carried out, and asked one of Brian's supervisors for Buck Mtn.'s business card. After the job was finished, we did a walk-around inspection and noticed some things that needed to be touched up. Buck Mtn. returned and took care of everything we had noted. In fact, they went out of their way to do some touch-up painting and removed an old, wi-fi antenna and cable that had been attached to our chimney at no additional cost. Buck Mtn. is not a big outfit, and they don't seem to have a full-time office person to answer the phone. Most times you have to leave a message, which Brian or one of his supervisors will respond to as soon as they have time. Bottom line, they do a great job and can save you a lot of money.
Description of Work: Buck Mtn. renewed our tile roof, replacing broken tiles and bad wood, and installing a new DuPont Roofliner, under-layment, metal valleys. They also put a new roof on a flat-roofed addition built onto our home as part of the total price. All in all, Buck saved us more than $5,000 over the next-lowest quotes we received from other roofing companies. The price included the installation of "bird stop" which prevents pigeons and other birds from nesting under the roofing tiles. The price also included bird-proofing some recesses with wire fence material and a custom-made chimney cap to keep clumsy pigeons from falling down our chimney (that happened 4 times).

Buck roofing is an exceptional company that does excellent work and has a system in place to contact customers during the roofing process. From the time of estimate, Buck Mountain was willing to spend time to ensure that I understood the details of the estimate and the quality of work done. He also gave options for corrective issues and the implications of each choice. This same attention was throughout the project through the end when I asked for a few touch-ups. This is an honest, professional company who actually gave me a medium range bid but whose products being used had better histories and characteristics. There were no surprises between bid and the final costs. I did have to wait a few times for responses before the work began because the owner was out-of-state working on a project but patience during communication was well worth it in the end and caused just minor 'hiccups' in the service. Regardless, Buck Mtn made good on all their work and agreements plus worked in partner with the company covering the soffit and fascia at the same time. If I ever had to do a roof again, I would select this roofing company without any hesitation!
