The door was a very difficult job, since my kitchen and laundry room are limited in space. James had to remove framework from around the door to get it out, and replace the wheels on top of the door. He did an incredibly neat job, and the door works better than ever now. One cannot even tell the frames had been removed, he is that neat and detail oriented He even brought a new door handle to replace the one that was loose and didn't work very well .Excellent !! I had removed the custom-made but overly elaborate draperies from my bedroom windows. I wanted something simpler, and cleaner-looking. I explained my idea of woodwork framing around the windows, and just using mini-blinds with simple semi-sheer curtains on a tension rod in the window opening, in front of the blinds. James came back with the lumber, cut everything ( expertly! ) and installed frames. I didn't even have to tell James what kind of woodwork to get; he chose boards that were just perfect. I was SOOOO pleased with how the project turned out .

I recently had a plumber come out ( Isley"s; my plumber since 1998, reviewed previously) for some upgrades to my plumbing fixtures, and on James' advice, had the plumber check on, and fix, the leak that had caused the caulking around the tub to deteriorate. A less conscientious handy man might have just gone ahead and caulked, but not James. James did a truly beautiful job caulking the tub; it looked new when he finished. And ... no mess in my bathroom ! Next, he caulked around all the window frames he had installed on his last visit. When the painter was here last week, he asked who had done the work. He was impressed, and the painter is one with over 30 years experience. Last, James installed the new light fixture I had bought, and ( of course! ) it looks, and works, just great. I am so very grateful for Angie's List and finding such an incredible handy man through the services membership offers. James Maltese is truly a treasure

James arrived on time - he is always quite punctual. My old front door was badly in need of replacement, and the one James got is of much better quality with (even !) a high energy rating ! He is very meticulous in his work, and went to a lot of effort to make sure my door was hung evenly with no gaps. He made sure the threshold would accommodate my new soon-to-be-installed carpeting. The weather stripping is of the best quality, and there is absolutely no escape of air around the door. James even had me stand in front of the door to make sure the peephole was at the right height for me, since I am quite petite and the previous peephole needed something for me to stand on! The door looks just beautiful, and it has received many compliments on the quality of the door and the installation.

The bottom of the cabinet had been badly warped by a water pipe breaking. It got much worse over time until the cabinet was close to unusable. Mr.Maltese took out the warped piece, and used boards to build a support framework, He replaced the cabinet bottom with a new bottom piece which is much sturdier than the original one. Mr. Maltese is such a pleasant man! He is very professional, and skilled., and he is quite open about explaining what he can do for the problem, and the approximate cost. He is a hard worker, and does not stop working just to chat - he's quite capable of being sociable while he works ! Since my initial appointment, he came again yesterday ( 14 October) and did a very difficult job for me: removing framing woodwork so an off-the track pocket door could be removed, have new hardware put on, and replaced. He did such a neat job that it is like new again. I have several more handyman jobs that I will be scheduling with Mr. Maltese. He is such a treasure for a single lady, or for one who has neither the skill or equipment to tackle such "Handyman" chores . I cannot recommend Mr. James Maltese highly enough.

The experience was beyond my expectations. James was professional, knowledgable, creative and worked quickly and efficiently. He kindly spent time teaching me as well. He was on time, well equipped and neat. I would recommend him and certainly use him again

Perfect, punctual, friendly, Professional

James came to do the work on a morning that we were having the "Storm of the Century". The weather was horrendous! He called to apologize for possibly being a little late. I would have understood if he had wanted to reschedule. He came supplied with all tools he needed to do all the jobs. He got right to work and only stopped to check with us as to the placement of the bars before they were permanently in place. We were very pleased with his service and definitely will call him in the future for further!

James came around 10 in the morning as discussed, He quickly got on the Job. We had a prior discussion for work needs. I had a new front lock available to fix replacing the old one, as well as a new Ceiling FAN. I was also able to replace my RO filters. Had been great working with the Provider.

James was very knowledgeable, courteous & reliable. Superior work done. No surprises. We have already had James back to our home to do bathroom sink replacements & reverse osmosis installation. We have also referred him to family members as well.

I emailed after researching on Angie's List, and he got back to me promptly with a quote. On the day of service, he was on time, professional, and stuck to the quote. I will definitely contact him again for any future handyman needs!

James arrived on time and went to work. He was efficient and had all the tools and materials to complete the job. He kept appraised of his progress. He was very pleasant and cleaned up after himself. My wife and I are very pleased with his job.

James did an excellent job. He provided services for a rental home in Johnson Ranch. I got his number from Angie's list and gave him a call. I asked him to look at a dishwasher that was depositing a film on the dishes. Stating that he also lived in Johnson Ranch, he immediately recommended a soft water system, as the water is very hard in Johnson Ranch. There was more work than originally anticipated due to the property itself, so his price went up accordingly. The system was installed at a fair price and in a timely manner. I asked him to send me a copy of the warranty information, which he provided promptly. My rentors indicated he was prompt and professional. I would use James again for Handiman services. Its nice to have someone who knows the area and can be relied upon.

They were awesome. They were true gentlemen, professional and very kind. If I had work I would have called them all the time. They did a really great job. The water softener was really cheap and they connected within three hours. The landscape lighting cost $250.00. They are very patient, thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. The one thing that I always look for is clarity which they have. They are very accessible.

James is very professional and provides quality work. He does the job swiftly and offers such a large scope in his ability. We have used him two other times at our house as well. He is definitely our "go-to" guy for and home repairs or projects that we need help with.

My handyman had family emergency and left some tasks in middle. I was getting remodeled house painted so needed someone to come immediately and fix things up. Only James was able to make time for 1.5 days. I have a high level of perfectionism so reading reviews here, I was happy to have found a suitable replacement for my handyman. However, James turned out to be expensive without the perfectionism I was expecting. Not bad, but not the excellent work that everyone seems to have praised. Just good enough, at a slightly higher cost. Details: It took him 1.5 days for work that my previous handyman was taking 0.5 day to finish. Granted my handyman had to leave and did not finish it in 0.5 day; but this was the tail end of the numerous jobs I had to get done, and he had already finished 90% in 2 days. So I can trust when he said he only needed 3-4 hours for all this. And James took 1.5 days for the same work costing me more than my original handyman; even though James has a lower hourly charge. Good: He was able to make time to accommodate my work. He was on time and professional. He not only changed RO filter, he pumped the air to ensure pressure was right. Part of RO service, cheaper for me as I had hired him for hourly basis. Not sure how long he took as I was not present when he was working. The cabinet knobs are fine, in alignment. Not so Good: Projector wall had dents and wasnt flat smooth which he had promised. He had to rework it again second day, costing me much much more than a decent screen. It didnt end up perfect even after paint as he had claimed. He said he is perfectionist, but the wall didnt appear perfect, 98% but not quite 100%, especially at the cost. He left mud sprinkled on my laminate floor, power outlet, back patio. He did cover floor but it wasnt perfect, just okay coverage it seems. He took ~4 hours for drilling and attaching ~50 knobs. My wife went to HD to get the screws required while he marked and drilled. I found it odd that he had marked all cabinets, and drilled most of them in 1 hour, but even after 4 hours he was finishing knobs; and was starting to rework the projector wall. I felt he was slow and not so perfect as he claimed.

James was on time & performed all the work I needed in a timely manner. He is a very personable man and most important to me, is very honest and does a consistently excellent job. When my water softener stopped working I called the service department. The service man said I needed a new softener. As James sells and installs them I called him. He took a look and said I didn't need a new one. He fixed the problem and saved me quite a bit of money. I always get an honest quote and bill from him. I have recommended him to family and friends alike in the past, and have only received positive feedback.

I consider James to be responsible and reliable. I am very satisfied with his workmanship.
