I called "I FIX SPRINKLERS" to schedule an appointment to get my timer replaced and the valves replaced as necessary. I believe I talked to Mike and scheduled an appointment. He was punctual on the day of the appointment. He examined our timer, testing the drips and sprinklers, I explained that the manual mode worked but that the timer was not. He then looked at the valves. His recommendation was to save myself some money and do the work myself. The timer "guts" would come right out and easy to replace, available at any hardware store. Also the valves were the lowest grade, but the insides could also be easily replaced. All in all he stated that I could save hundreds of dollars by doing it myself and that he would feel bad taking my money. The surprise then came that he needed a check for $75.00 for the service call!! There was no mention of a service call fee in our phone conversations, nor did the website mention any!!! And when he wanted the check made to Trench-Masters I became suspicious. What a racket! I wish I could get free money for recommending somebody else do all the work! Yes, I did replace the timer, special unit, not available at any hardware store, had to go to sprinkler/irrigation specialty store. They tested the unit and determined the WHOLE unit was bad, not the "guts". And I am still having major problems, many dead and dying plants. So I am looking AGAIN for a GOOD sprinkler repair man!!
