I purchased countertops from HD and showed them the pop-up outlet to be installed before I made my purchase. I also paid extra for 2 outlet holes to be cut in the countertop in advance as well as paid for all templating etc.. When the template designer from D. Moe, Tom, arrived I brought up the pop-up plug and showed him. He said that they would cut the outlet on site at the time of installation. When the installers arrived, before they started anything, I showed them the outlet and where I wanted it to go and showed them that the counter would need to be cut and then I could insert outlet in the hole and secure it from beneath and plug in before the countertop was dropped in place. They told me they don’t cut holes for outlets on site. I explained that the template designer told me that they did and then the man said OK. They never cut the hole for my outlet. In addition they scratched the side of my refrigerator side panel, which was just installed- hollering that the countertop was “too big!”, left a very thick layer of dust in my kitchen, and I was finding debris from the wood they used to build up the counter on my floor. I called and also went into Home Depot in person that day and told them that they hadn’t drilled a hole for my counter. Sergio who facilitated the transaction verified that it was on the work order. The next day HD told me that the installation company would call me to set up a time to come cut the hole. About 30 minutes after the phone call 2 men from the installation company knock on my door without any advance notice. The guy is not wearing any kind of facial covering during the pandemic and they say they’re there to cut the hole. So I ask him to wear his face covering and let them in. I wasn’t expecting them, so I have supplies on the countertop. They are here for a few minutes and one of them knocked over an entire pitcher of water everywhere, all over the floor, counter, cabinets etc.. I had a pitcher of water on the counter because my sink still wasn’t connected because the new countertops installed were pushed forward a quarter inch and my plumbing didn’t lineup when I went to reinstall my sink- just another inconvenience. The guy said they couldn’t cut the hole because they didn’t have the right tool and because they laid the Counter down without putting the hole in prior, like I had requested when they were installing, there was no way for me to access the electrical anymore as there’s a 6 inch gap between my cabinet and the pony wall where the electrical is and the outlet would’ve needed to be plugged in and installed before the counter was dropped. They said they would need to remove the countertop and get a tool to drill the hole. They explained that this is the right way to install it and they didn’t want to put a hole in my new cabinets and that they made a mistake. So time goes by and I don’t hear from them again about the matter. I reached out again to HD to get the hole drilled for my counter outlet, and HD says they’ll get back to me. 2 days later I hear nothing. I call again and they say they’ll get back to me, so I call D Moe. The man calls back quick. I explain the situation and he lets me know that they can put a hole in but they can’t drill a hole through my cabinet so I can access the electrical. I explain I don’t have the right tools to do that. He says he’ll ask, but also tells me they need a template to cut the outlet hole (which I paid for templates). I ask when I might hear back from him and he says he can’t say. I ask, will it take a day, a week, a year (I’m also coordinating these calls in between working full time). The man insists that there’s no way to let me know when I should expect to hear back. $3000 later, my kitchen prep area is not functional, I have circle drawn on my counter where I should have a plug, have existing damage on my refrigerator side panel from their installation, I have no idea if/when a hole will be cut in the counter so I can drop a plug into there and now I will now be forced to drill through my new cabinetry to access electrical and they can’t provide a clue for when they can call me back. Update- I called Home Depot today and they said that DMoe is now requiring me to do the measurements for my own outlet and to complete a template for them even though I paid for this as part of the “basic labor included” with the countertops and installation service. Clearly I don’t feel comfortable doing that as I am not an installer and I paid for this service along with paying for the outlet cut outs. So... I think this will have to escalate to ROC or court, I am not sure at this point. I never imagined a company would create so much drama over their own mistake. They also expect $400 payment to cut the outlet hole even though it was paid for already and on my receipt. I don’t understand why they are putting me through so much stress and inconvenience in order to correct their mistake. I just want a functional kitchen with access to my electrical. I just want what I paid for and what was on the customer agreement that I signed. I was so excited about getting these countertops as I’ve never had nice countertops like this before and I regret making this purchase. I have photographs of the agreement and everything I mentioned. This has been such a sad experience. I think this company probably does an OK job normally, but clearly there’s a lack of accountability when mistakes are made and they seem to be transferring their accountability onto the customer. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they are making this so difficult and so unpleasant. I already paid for this, I’m not asking for anything that I didn’t pay for and that wasn’t agreed-upon in the beginning. When I bought the counter, when the template technician came out, when the installers arrived the outlet was discussed… This is not a new request- this was communicated through every step of the process and for some reason D Moe Will not complete the job that they were hired to do Without transferring liability for their work performance on to the customer.

Description of Work: D Moe Contracting replaced our clay tile kitchen countertops with corian, keeping the tile backsplash intact and in great condition. |We actually went to Home Depot to replace the old countertops and then researched D Moe when we learned that they were whom Home Depot would send out. Everything we learned looked good, so we signed the contract with Home Depot, and D Moe did the work. |Everyone involved was friendly, professional and on-time. D Moe took the measurements, performed the demo and hauled away the old countertops. We are very pleased with their work and would them again with no hesitation.

The install went OK, it was the sink that was an issue. It came with two holes, only one of which I wanted to use. I told the guy who came out to measure for the counter tops that I wanted two other holes drilled through the stainless steel and he said that would not be a problem and that the installer would drill them for me when he came back to do the install. On the day of install the guy said no one told him and that he had not brought the tool to do it. All he did was drill me two holes through the Corian and one of them ended up being over the channel that is used for doing a surface mount. That was something I asked him before he drilled holes." Is this hole going to miss that channel underneath?" "Yes" was his reply. It took me and the guy I hired two hours to drill through that stainless steel sink. It took three hole saws and several purchased cobalt bits which we used, in the end to drill dozens of small holes and to finally get the holes cut out. All in all, my labor not included, it cost me $90 plus two trips to Home Depot and one to my local hardware store to get the holes cut. I called D Moe and she said my plumber was supposed to cut through the stainless. Well, that was the first time anyone said that. Conflicting with the statements from both the reps I dealt with. And satisfaction, zero. After paying all that money to them and she wasn't willing to do anything to have a satisfied customer. Very disappointing. The end.

William Neal, the technician, arrived on schedule. Although it had been nearly 4 years since our last cleaning/polishing job, he observed that the countertop looked "pretty good" [my wife appreciated that!], a cloudy surface with a few typical minor scratches and only one small surface "nick". Among available surface finishes, we agreed that a "satin" finish was the right choice. Will launched into the job, during which we chatted about Corian maintenance and a bunch of other things -- a pleasant guy. When asked, he recommended using Windex for daily Corian cleaning [that's what my wife uses, though Dupont doesn't recommend it for Corian]. He advised that it was extremely important to ensure that Corian be completely dried after daily cleaning in order to prevent clouding. He also gave me some tips for repairing the grout [cracked] at the countertop/granite backsplash seam, and also added a silicone caulk line at the end seam of one end of the countertop and the vertical cabinet surround of the refrigertaor to contain any liquid spills near that area of the countertop. The job took a shade over two hours [$130 labor], plus trip charge and $19 for supplies/taxes = $224. VISA was acceptable for payment. A good experience -- I'll use them again. Thanks Angie's List!!
Description of Work: Called for approximate estimate for cleaning and polishing our bone-color Corian countertop [about 193 linear inches by 25 inches deep = about 16 square feet, plus a 29 inch wide x 17 inch deep Corian double sink]. In previous years, I had used a company called Ultra Installations, with which I was very satisfied; however, they apparently have gone out of business. Was given a phone estimate of a $75 trip charge, labor at $65/hour, plus supplies and taxes -- and a rough estimate of a couple of hours for the job, or $215--greater than 225 total. Accepted the estimate [2nd highest of 4 bids] and scheduled job for 8:00 am on July 11.

Came out Monday to measure everything, spent about an hour in my tiny kitchen getting all the measurements perfect. Came back on Wednesday to install the countertop. They also removed my old laminate countertop. They were extremely quiet considering they were tearing apart my kitchen. The whole thing was done in about 1.5 hours and it looks fantastic.

They haven't finished the work yet but they were just here to measure and the guy was very thorough and professional and gave us information we did not know. We were really pleased with him. We got their name through a home improvement store where we bought our countertop and paid for the installation.

OUR CORIAN COUNTERTOPS WERE HEAVILY SCRATCHED AND NEEDED BUFFING OUT AND SURFACE TREATED. D. MOE HAD ORIGINALLY INSTALLED THE COUNTERTOPS, SO WE CALLED THEM FOR THE SERVICE SINCE THEY ARE AUTHORIZED TO WORK ON CORIAN. D. MOE DID A FINE JOB. THEY CAME ON TIME, GOT THE WORK DONE AS EXPECTED AND THE COUNTERS LOOKED MUCH BETTER. SINCE THEY ARE GOING TO NEED TO BE DONE AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE, I WILL CALL THEM AGAIN FOR THE SERVICE.
