A telephone representative called and offered a free home energy audit sponsored by APS and SRP. By the time we had a business card and looked on the reverse side, a contract had been signed. In Arizona, the utility company APS is short for Arizona Public Service Company. On the back of the card APS is short for Arizona Power Service. The utility company SRP stands for Salt River Project. On the back of the card SRP is short for Solar Reliant Power. When I called SRP, my utility provider, to ask about America's Best Home Pros/Energy Audit USA, they said they had never heard of them, in fact all home energy audits requested were done by their own department. They are currently looking into the misuse of the SRP trade name. I am so upset with myself for having fallen for this telephone solicitation. They have our deposit of $500 and refuse to return it, though no work has been done. At first, the boss agreed to cancel our contract, but today refused to do so. I can't sleep, I can't stop thinking about others who may be taken in by these people, and I so I am writing this report. I want others to know of this misleading telephone call. Hopefully you will not allow a smooth talker into your home and find yourself in our situation. Our situation is yet unresolved and may end up in court unless this company cancels our contract and returns our $500 deposit. First they said they would, now they saw they won't cancel our contract and return our deposit. I have only scratched the surface of the many other misrepresentations by this company and their representatives. I hope by writing this embarrassing experience I will save others our pain.
