Above & Beyond Pool Remodeling

It shouldnt take over 3 months to complete a basic resurfacing. Othen they would not show up for weeks after draining the pool and stripping the coatings. Then we failed the inspection because they did not complete the resurface to the updated Maricopa codes.

5/5 STARS for this company, and here is why: Work that was done: Pool remodel from old stucco and 1990’s tile waterline to pebble tec and resurface patio. When buying my first house with a pool I was unaware that they need to be refinished. An expense I was not expecting. I contacted 3 companies in my area that all have very good reviews. While Above & Beyond was not the cheapest option, it was definitely not the most expensive either. I got quotes that ranged from $15k up to $30k. I went with Above & Beyond for a few reasons and they are as follows: My salesman Troy came out quickly to get me an estimate and answered ALL my questions professionally. While all the other salesman that came to get me quotes pushed for me to get this done ASAP and hit me with the “your pool could crack and leak if you don’t do this right away”, trying to get my money now, Troy took the time to inspect my pool thoroughly, understand that this was a big expense and said I probably have 2 more years before it really needed to be done. In fact, he came out the following year and confirmed the same thing. He understood the customer and earned my respect by not being pushy. When it finally came time for me to pull the trigger, I reached back out to Above & Beyond to let them know I was ready to proceed. I was scheduled for an appointment with Denise (their Design Manager) to go through finishes. She was so nice and extremely professional. She walked us through what each finish color and tile color would do to showcase the final result of the water color (i.e. if it would make the water look a deeper blue, or a greenish tone, etc). She had plenty of pictures on a slide show to really showcase what the end result would look like. The design process took about 45 minutes as they have so many options to choose from. After the design process, we put our down payment down and were put on the books for just a couple weeks out, which is crazy because it’s end of pool season so I figured it would take a while. Prior to them coming on site, our Project Manager Ray gave me a call to explain how the entire process would work and a rough timeline on each phase. Ray stayed in touch almost daily via text to keep me informed, but was never a bother or over bearing. You can tell he cares about the customer and understood my needs (especially with having 4 dogs). Ray managed the crews that showed up each day and every employee that came was professional and courteous. They all took the time to tape off or block off areas of the house they were working near so there would be no overspray or damage. I was told the whole project would take 3 – 4 weeks from start to finish. There was 1 miscommunication between myself and the sales team during this process (and that’s no fault of either). How Above & Beyond handled it was flawless. The President of the Company, Michael Sandoval, called me directly to discuss the issue at hand. While I was not looking for a free handout for the situation to get fixed, I just wanted to be fair, Michael took care of the issue at no cost. This extended the install a few days, but talk about customer service!! He didn’t put blame on me, just like I didn’t put blame on them. Again, just a miscommunication. He spoke with me on the phone for probably 30 minutes at least and just genuinely cared about my overall experience, despite it costing his company a little bit more to correct. Overall, I cannot recommend this place high enough! Veteran Owned and operated, professional, and despite it being a big expense for me, a very pleasurable experience all round. And my pool and patio look AMAZING! Thank you Above & Beyond, you will be recommended to all my friends that need a pool or patio remodel. Semper Fi, Joey

Being a retired Software Engineer I am very particular in the quality of work I expect from others. I am very pleased with my remolded pool. It looks fantastic! From start to finish the whole team was remarkable. Thanks to Denise, Scott and Matthew, I knew what was going on in each phase of the remodel and each step of the work was relayed to me prior to execution. The work was clearly laid out and executed with care and precision. Denise was extremely helpful throughout the process, and in the planning of the design as well as keeping me up to date with the work and cost. We sincerely wanted to write a 5 star review and a lot was positive up to the completion of the aggregate. Sales was fine, picking out surfaces was great, communication was good and they showed up on the date and time promised. So why the 3 stars? No walk through to start the project as repeatedly stated, had no idea who was in charge and much of what follows could have been avoided had someone cared. The workers showed up and did great work...a day or days ahead of the emails letting us know when they would be there. That's a great thing. And all that work seems like it was done with skill and care. But once the payment to 90% happened, we had to do the math for the office folks, they sprayed. And then it took 8 weeks to finish. Four weeks of that receiving notice for final payment. Couldn't get the Popups back in. Helps when you ensure O rings in place, but they didn't mark which heads went where, blamed our manifold which was replaced 3 years ago, until they came and looked at it. Then went on about how the salesperson messed up the contract and if he had done his job we would have to pay for new heads. Took almost 2 weeks to see if the manufacturer had the engineering diagrams, they did not. Failed to put back our flush returns, claimed they would not work. Hence waiting to do this review. I found and put in flush mount returns. Had they saved what they took out it would have been easy. Finally had Manu rep come out and this is where I finally lost my cool after asking for time lines and plans to finish the pool. The rep was great as he realized I knew about my pool. I was sick of the excuses from Above and Beyond. I asked them to have Micheal the Owner call me. That still has not happened, but the heads were finally put in about 10 days later. And I hope we don't need warranty work, because I am sure they won't appreciate this review, but this is how a Veteran owned company treated another Veteran. And I realize they had Covid issues, sent a foreman/supervisor who was no longer with them at some point right after the major parts were done. But they also knew I have 15 to 20K more work from tile to pool automation to be done over the next 2 years. My advice to them is to listen to your customers, don't send inexperienced workers to resolve issues and be careful not to imply customers don't know what they are talking about. My flush returns arrived and installed... so they do exist and I did have them prior to the start of this project. Update 6/1/2021. 30 minutes after posting this review, Michael Sandoval not only responded but reached out to schedule time to discuss my experience. He not only wanted to discuss but came by to see the work. I feel he completely understands what happened, what communication breakdowns occurred, and will use this as an opportunity to help his team grow.

After many requests for quotes, Michael at Above and Beyond Pool Remodeling met us on site and went over our remodel project. After his quote, we met at his showroom and picked out the travertine, pool tile, new pool surface and facings. Michael and his staff gave us a timeline on our project. I received daily and weekly updates, along with video's of our remodel. They completed our project on time and on budget. I would highly recommend Above and Beyond Pool Remodeling to anyone who is looking for a quality remodel at a fair price. Thank You Michael and your amazing staff!!!

Had Above and Beyond do my pool remodel, and absolutely love it! Went from plaster to pebble, added a baja shelf, and had pool deck refinished. Kudos to Troy, Gil, Denise, Christina, Michael and all the guys! I highly recommend them and thank you for the beautiful pool!!!

Mike Sandoval and his team at Above & Beyond Pool Remodeling certainly live up to their name! I met Mike 3 years ago when I subcontracted him to do my hardscaping, pool bottom & pool tile. From day 1, Mike was there to answer my questions and helped with anything I needed (including things that were not a part of our contract). He was extremely professional, kept his team to the timelines given and demanded perfection when it came to the quality of work his men put out. To this day, Mike is my 'go to' when I have a question or concern about my pool. We have built a friendship over the years and his company is the ONLY one I would trust for my next pool build. After months of planning was waiting for a final proposal, and they decided they did not want the project. Now I have to get quotes all over again. Extremely unprofessional, really poor follow up and communication. Do not recommend.

Mike and his team were very professional, affordable and gave great deal of attention to detail. They also made sure my backyard and property was clear of any trash and debris. We are extremely pleased with the outcome! They started and ended our project on time. There were no surprises. We were in regular contact with Fernando, our operations manager, who was timely, responsive, and extremely knowledgeable. Fernando took plenty of time to explain what would happen and answer our questions. We brought one issue to Fernando's attention and he took care of it promptly, with very minimal discussion, and an apology for the inconvenience. It was the ideal response! Fernando was able to prioritize his crews to get the work done in a timely manner. Above & Beyond has all their own people (no contractors) and that definitely worked to our advantage. That was one of the reasons we chose Above & Beyond and I am so glad we did! We asked them to keep our existing tile (except for the spillways which we wanted to re-tile) and they did. A few tiles fell off during the chip out; the crew kept those tiles and put them back. Above & Beyond was priced in the middle, not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. We interviewed and got bids from 6 different pool companies and decided based on price, contractors vs. employees, services provided, reviews on Angie's list (!) and a gut feel. Above & Beyond is awesome!

I left a message and Troy immediately returned my message later that day on voicemail. The problem is after that I left 3 additional messages and never heard back. I even asked in politeness if they are too busy to at least let me know so I can go with another company, yet I still did not hear back. I know life can get busy but it is beyond unprofessional to not even respond back to repeated voicemails.

Above and Beyond Pool Remodeling has been a pleasure to work with. I was referred to them by a family member. I wanted to add a fire pit outside in my backyard with a seating area. They came to give me an estimate on what I wanted. They helped me with the designed and location of the fire pit area since I really wasn’t too sure what I wanted. They were not pushy and listened to my ideas before they gave a suggestion to the design. Their estimate was reasonable when I compared it to other estimates I had. They schedule a day to start the work and finished on time. I love the end result. It was exactly what I had wanted. I would definitely use them again if I decided to do anything else to my yard.

Mike from above and beyond pool remolding shot the pebble sheen into my pool and really went above and beyond in doing so! Him and his team gave us the best customer service I've ever had from any company I've ever dealt with. Above and Beyond was amazing from the first contact to even weeks after my pool remodel has been complete. Michael and his employees walked me through the entire process including advising me on what features would work best with my pool and really what not to waste spending money on. This was much appreciated as they kept me under my budget yet my pool looks like it belongs in a magazine. Even after my pool, new filter system, and pump have been installed I have reached out a couple times with some questions and all questions have been answered within minutes. The name says it all!!! These guys will go Above and Beyond for their customers. The salesman we very knowledgeable and very help full. After speaking to these guys I decided to do a complete remodel and convert from a diving pool to a play pool. Pool is brand new and looks fantastic. All the workers left my yard spotless, actually in better shape than when they started. Why can't more companies take pride in service like these guys do? Thank you Mike to you and your team!!
