Ed, the Tech arrived on time, inspected old (17 yr) opener that was not working and found that the motherboard, or the whole unit, would need to be replaced. Decided that after 17 years of use, it would be better to replace the old unit. Ed installed Liftmaster 8365 Premium Series 1/2HP AC Motor with 7' Chain Rail and tuned the rollers

I had really good service with them. They were prompt, courteous and they explained everything thoroughly.

John serviced us at least three times and did fine work. Unfortunately, he failed to follow-up to finish his work on his last visit and after repeated calls and his failure to appear when promised (3 times), we had to give up and find another provider. Very disappointing.

Prefect transaction from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

I called and John was able to arrive in 1 hour on a Saturday, which was great. I had a broken spring, so he replaced both springs on the garage door. The work went smoothly and he was done in less than an hour.

It took them 11 and a half hours to put the da#n door up. The guy kept leaving. They weren't here half of the times I had them put two gates up. It took them two days to put the gates up. They took the gates off and my dogs couldn't go to the bathroom because the back yard was wide open. The wall that they supposedly fixed, several months later it looked just as bad as when they came. Then there here all day. The manager or whoever would just dump the guys and then leave. I had to give them my 100 foot electric cord, I had to give them a shovel or something else, and then at the end of the night they left with my equipment that I loaned them. Just terrible, terrible. I wanted to get them back to try to fix things and it wasn't even the right size. I said all that money and I don't even have privacy. You can see through the gate. I had metal gates put up and they were suppose to put the composite wood and it's not the right size because you can see through it. So you have all these barrels and blockades blocking so people don't poke things at my dog or whatever. I have never had good luck with these people. It's a crap shoot. That's why I'm not renewing this. It's too stressful. I don't see how there on your list.

Notificed A-1 of a clunking sound with a potential broken spring. They came out on a Saturday afternoon. Examined the problem and confirmed that the spring had indeed broken. We opted to replace both springs as they are the same age and he had this done in about an hours time. Garage door is back to working order! This is our second time working with A-1 Advantage and I would use them again in the future. Thanks!

What a kind gesture from this pleasant man; as soon as he read our email, he called back within 30 mins and was out to do repair of garage door. Would not hesitate to call again for any garage door issue

That one went well. I like their punctuality, price and how quickly they got the job done.

They did very good job and I am very pleased with them. I will be using them in future if needed.

I am going on year now attempting to get these parts mailed to me. The last conversation I had with John was that he would re-order the accessories because he advised me that they showed "delivered" but possibly went to the wrong house. I trusted that he re-ordered but again I have yet to see anything.

Called A-1 Advantage on Sunday because our garage door spring broke and we could not open the garage. I was given a 2 hour window of when to expect some to arrive. They arrived early with the window, examined the problem. Recommendations were made on the work that needed to be done with pricing. Work was completed within an hour. The garage door and opener were adjusted and tested. Technician was very professional, friendly, and didn't try to sell items that were not needed. I thought the pricing was very fair. I had expected to pay $300-350 just for the springs, based on information I had found on Angie's List. I am very pleased with the whole experience with A-1 Advantage Garage Door Service.

john was courteous and professional. got the job done quickly and with care. I will use him in the future.

The garage door wasn’t opening all the way and my daughter backed into it and dented it. Instead of replacing the whole garage door, he put a stabilizer bar across the bottom inside of the garage and you would never know that it was ever fixed. He didn’t rip us off and he saved a lot of money.

I called them this morning and spoke to the owner, John. He said they were running a special on replacing garage door springs. I had checked other places and his price was the best. His technician, Michael, came promptly, within the two hour window. Michael was very nice and explained everything as he was repairing the door. While I was in the garage with him, my two year old granddaughter, locked the dead bolt to the door and I could not get back in the house. We banged, pleaded and yelled, but we could not hear her. I was worried something had happened to her! Michael volunteered to drill the lock out at no cost. He did so and we got back in right away and found her scared, but safe. He even swept up the metal pieces from the drilling! I am very grateful to Michael and to his company for wonderful service above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you Michael, and Advantage very much!

HE REPLACED SPRING AND GARAGE DOOR OPENER (23 YRS OLD) AT A REASONABLE PRICE. HE WAS A VERY NICE MAN WHO EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AS HE WENT ALONG

Our garage door finally bit the dust - we couldn't open it and it was bent and the opener was the original from @1983. It was time for a complete new system. We called John and he came over to show us options. We were able to pick out a new door with lovely half moon opaque windows to match our front doors for a great price. Door was solid before with no windows. The worker appeared on time and by himself - removed the old door and opener and installed the new. At first we were surprised it was only him - but he did it alone - and was very polite. John appeared later to inspect and help us set the outside box code and show how the new wall unit works. It is so quiet now it is amazing! The other one could wake the dead it was so noisy. John added in painting the door to match the house for a good price as well. This took a couple weeks to accomplish due to rain - and you have to wait 72 hrs for the painting after the door is installed. So weather delayed this as well as availability to finish - which must be due to all the work they have! John actually came himself to do the painting and it matches the house perfectly! John isn't the most professional in answering his phone - our only complaint. He doesn't answer with the company name - just hello - which forces you to ask if this is A1 Advantage Garage Door. Overall we are totally satisfied with the work performed and the result. The door is beautiful and quiet and we couldn't be happier with it.

They did a fine job and only took about 15 minutes. They recommended new rollers (I think this is a standard practice in the industry). The unfortunate part of the visit is that the tech was 1/2 hour late--but they did call to let me know they were on the way.

On Friday 7/25 upon arriving home, closed garage door and chain broke loose while door was closing. The main drive sprocket on top of unit had sheared off of its drive shaft. The next day, called John from A-1 Advantage Garage Door Service of Gilbert and described the problem. He gave me a quote of $150 and said he could be at my home in 2 hours. I agreed, and he arrived on time. He immediately began the repair and showed me the pile of metal shavings where the months/years of wear had slowly brought the unit to failure. He replaced all the gearing, lubricated, adjusted the chain, adjusted the door spring, and adjusted the force limits. When he was finished, door opened and closed more smoothly than it ever has [since I've lived in the house, which has been just over a year]; but he pointed out the rollers were pretty well worn. He suggested they appeared to be original and he estimated 10 years of wear or more. [Per records that came with the home, spot on with 12 years of wear.] He suggested to maximize the life of the opener, I'd do well to replace the rollers. While John was working we engaged in some small talk and he mentioned he's been in the business for 40+ years. His speed and ease doing the repair reflects that experience.

John was excellent. My garage door had broken and was stuck halfway down. I contacted a provider to a**** the problem. He charged me $200 for the visit and to lower the garage door, and said that the garage door and mechanism will have to be replaced. I found John (A-1 Advantage Garage Door) on Angie's list and approached him for a second opinion. He came out 17:00 on a Thursday night. After evaluating the problem, he said he can fix it for around $250. I thought this was fantastic compared to replacing everything. I agreed, and he said he will be back later that evening to fix it as he needed to pick up replacement parts. True to his word, he showed up at 20:00 that same night and repaired the door. The final cost was only $275!!!!!!! An honest, competent service provider!!!!!

The experience was outstanding from beginning phone call through job completion. We received a courteous and fair quote and thorough explanations of available products to meet our needs, and promises which were all kept regarding their services. The technician arrived on time, did excellent work, was courteous, explained the system's function and capabilities, and cleaned up afterward. We are very happy and have recommended this company to our neighbors.

The construction of the garage frame and cement was swift, but attention to detail was lacking. He didnt prime the wood of the siding. window installed without any flashing. He didn't clarify some details and just made decisions without asking. That would have saved a lot of arguing and hassle for both parties.

My garage door broke and needed to be repaired or replaced. I was told by A1 Advantage that the door was old and they could not get replacement parts for it. They came the next day to install the door. I was told by the installer that the door would be painted in the next week. (I paid extra for this service).It is now over a month later and the door is not painted. I have called them several times in the last month and have gotten a different excuse each time. The door is very nice but they have not followed up on their customer service, and I could not recommend them at this point.

Called around 1:00 pm. They diagnosed over the phone and said they would have someone here by 3:00pm. Repairman arrived at 2:30, excellent response time. He had all the parts and completed the repair in 30 min. Price was very reasonable.
