Painters significantly underestimated time and painted rooms out of requested order. In four hours: one finished room, one room with 1 coat of paint, and one room unpainted. Gallons of unused paint and paint splotches on blinds and baseboards. Probably exactly what I would have done, but then I'm not a hired, professional painter...

I called Jonathan on Sunday evening to let him know my dilemma, and he said he would have a painter out on Wednesday morning. And at 7:45am he sent out Mark Godden to paint this bedroom for me. He worked until 5:45pm and did a fantastic job! He did extra some extra caulking and detailed nicely around the fan, vacuumed all of the dust and dirt around the window seals and floor. Their work is excellent.

We had a bit of a miscommunication on the colors to paint each wall. (Two walls were painted the wrong color) but the crew corrected the problem and the overall job was well done and completed within the 8 hours.

I called supplier directly to be sure I could get an appointment time very soon. The first call, I got no response, 2nd call got me an appointment within a few days. The painter was a noshow and this was the Wed. before Thanksgiving, so left 3 messages on the phone number I had and finally got a response on Monday. Was told I was not on the schedule for Wed. They found an opening on Tuesday at 8AM. The painter got lost (said he did not have an address). Gave him directions from his location about 5 minutes away and he arrived about a half hour later, finally showing up about 9AM. He had an attitude and blamed me for his tardiness, saying it was my fault because I missed his first call about 8:15. He was a subcontractor and several times during the say made comments about what a good, unbelievable deal I was getting. Each time I asked him to do another area, whether it was at the beginning of the job or 2-4 hours into the day, he said "if I have time to do it". He did get most of the job done but only spent 7 hours on location. When I came back the next day, he actually did a really good job. The owner Jonathon was courteous on the phone, but never met him. Only interaction was scheduling and rescheduling the job. I would have had him finish the garage in the last hour, but I really did not want to deal with his attitude and I was happy with the interior. The price was right and I may use them again for a similar job.

The painter arrived on time, was very neat and clean, and acted professional as well. He was also very kind and friendly. I showed him the bathroom and the closets that are in there (it's the master bath). I explained to him that I had painted the entire rest of my home myself, but because of health issues, I was no longer able to climb the tall ladders, nor get on the floor to do the baseboards. I had previously painted the baseboards in that room (when I painted the master bedroom) as well as the trim around all the doors, so that part was already done. I did all the "prep work", IE: removed switch plates, removed the medicine cabinet, washed down all the woodwork and walls, so that it was ready for paint, I also started taping the baseboards for him the night before. There were to be 2 different colors used in the room, the same as were in the master bedroom. I put an "X" in blue painter's tape on the two walls that were to be painted blue, and also explained that a small "knee wall" would be a 3rd color. He didn't know the actual time he had, so I showed him the deal coupon, and explained he had 8 hours to get it all done. I did tell him that if he could not finish it in 8 hours, that I could not afford to purchase an additional 8 hours, so to please do his best to get it done (it's not that big of a room) I did end up finishing up some of the rolling myself, but that would not keep me from using Pearl Painting again in the future. He did do a nice job, and when I spoke with the owner I told him I would give him a good review. I would definitely use this company again in the future, as I will need the outside of my home done sometime this next spring. Do not hesitate to call them for any of your needs :)
Description of Work: One of his painting staff (not the owner himself) came and painted my master bathroom and closets that are in there.

They were good; the painters that showed up did a great job. The only problem I had, was due to my problem. The paint that my home came with did not match properly. So I have to have to get them back here again. Unfortunately some of them matched and the rest of it did not. So I would have to call and see if I could get another Angies List price points and get the men and try and fix all the mismatched paint. There were 2 gentlemen here for 4 hours. They did great job, great work and my only complaint from the work would be that there was a little splatter on my wood floor that I had to clean up but outside of that it was great. Price was great. They were pretty communicative and they were great to work with.
Description of Work: I had purchased the Big Deal offer for Pearl Painting to do touch up on 2 stairways, hallways and my living room area, basically 3 large rooms. They also did dry wall repair.

The owner was very responsive to information requested via email. He actually came out and did a bid the next day, and started painting the day after. Four guys finished the 1400 SF job in 1.5 days. All of the guys were very polite, spoke English (which is very important when you are trying to give them directions of what you want done), and they did an amazing job. They used rollers & paint brushes to paint the two coats instead of spraying it on. The only thing I would recommend is to ask of them is to cover the floors because I spent some time cleaning up droplets on my dark wood floors and tile. I would highly recommend these guys for both their professionalism and quality of work.

Painters who came to house were nice and did a great job. I thought someone was going to look at my house ahead of time of painting and let me know how long it would take to paint the exterior of my house & inform me how much paint to buy. The painters were only able to paint 2 sides of my house for the day. I'm not happy with the communication I received from this company and I will not use in the future.

It didn’t turn out great but the painters were good. The communication wasn’t good. I thought they were coming to paint the exterior of my house. When they got here they informed me that they couldn’t paint the house in one day. I couldn’t see how much paint I had to buy on my own. I just feel like the communication on the owner’s part was awful. They informed me that I would have purchase couple of more of those coupons. I had to figure out how much paint was required and I had to run out and get more. I wouldn’t recommend them for sure. They scheduled me for October. Then when I called the day before to make sure that they were coming, they had a conflict so they came 2 weeks later. It was a big deal purchase. There were no extra charges. The painters that came were nice. I thought they might get the whole house painted for 2 more coupons but I found somebody that can do it cheaper than that.

It as terrible. They showed up unprepared for the tasks in terms of bringing enough ladders for a 2 man crew, so I had to supply them with a ladder for both of them to work, otherwise I would have one painter standing and watching the other one work. When they showed up they said "Oh by the way because we're a 2-man crew you have to pay us for an additional 8 hours." We looked at the deal we purchased and it said one painter for 8 hours but if 2 painters come out it would be 2 painters for 4 hours. So that's what we said to them and the job that I had would easily be completed in 4 hours by 2 painters and one gentleman's words were "Well we'd really like to get 8 hours out of it." So I said "No I'm not going to pay for the additional 8 hours because it's a 4 hour job for the 2 of you. That's what I bought and that's all I need." Then after 45 minutes I came back and checked and saw one man standing with his hands on his hips watching the other guy paint. So I requested that both of them would stay busy for the 4 hours that I have them here for and he said "Well I need to wait for him to finish using the ladder before I can do my work." So I loaned them my ladder. They finished the job in under 4 hours and my husband was home by then and was able to walk through and inspect heir work and he saw that they use white paint on my house and my house is like a sage green. So my husband pointed that out to them and said that they come back and fix it. They didn't take care of it, it's still there.

Arrived on time, prepared and got right to work. They prepared the area so no paint was on anything but the walls. Because the family room had a large uneven area Jonathan textured then came back the next day and finished that area. I had contracted for one coat of paint which looked great in all areas except living room which looked good until natural light comes in then roller marks were seen. I agreed to to an additional charge to apply second coat of paint which they have scheduled . I have contracted them to do an additional job for me next month.

Ken and Mike showed up on time and ready to get to work! They were thorough and professional, fully respecting Mom (she's 90!) and her property - keeping the noise level down, ensuring adequate ventilation, taping and covering everything (even the really old stuff!). I couldn't be more pleased, and the rooms have a fresh look that they haven't seen in more than 20 years, I bet. I even got a few professional painting tips for my next project. I'd definitely hire this team again.

I spoke with the provider to schedule a painting for a Big Deal I purchased, and he told me I needed to email his wife to get it scheduled. I didn't want to have to email someone to get the appointment scheduled. I paid for this on October 3, 2013, and I only just heard from them today. I did not do any business with this company, so I can't say one way or the other if they're a good company to work with.

Ken and Mike were very professional and friendly when they arrived to paint my ceiling. Another "handyman" had taken the popcorn off my ceiling and attempted to paint and texture in its place. However, he did a terrible job. Ken and Mike worked to make my ceiling look the way it should have looked in the first place, painted it thoroughly and evenly, and also touched up the paint on the vaulted walls where the other painter had let it drip down or run over onto the walls. They were respectful of my property and worked in an efficient manner. I would highly recommend them.

The owner responded to my calls and asked to schedule an appointment in the early morning - 7 a.m. on Thursday to provide an estimate. I had asked for 8 a.m., but he said earlier was better. I agreed to his time. He called on Wednesday and asked to move the appointment to Friday. He then called on Thursday and asked to move the appointment again. This time, he needed to come at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning. I had an out of town guest staying for the weekend sleeping in the room he needed to view to provide the estimate. It would be very inconvenient, but I again agreed since I needed the work done quickly. We were all up and waiting at 7 a.m. By 7:30, he hadn't arrived. I called and called and left messages. He finally picked up at 8 and said he'd be right over. At 8:20, he finally arrived. It's important to note that our house - where the work was to be performed - is less than 3 miles from Pearl Painting. It's not like he was commuting from 60 miles away and hit traffic at 7 on a Saturday morning. His arrived with bloodshot eyes, looking like he had just rolled out of bed. Needless to say, I didn't purchase from Pearl as they were not at all reliable in providing me the quote. I can't imagine what their work would have been like.
Description of Work: The provider was late and unable to keep his appointment times. We didn't make it past the quote due to extremely unprofessional behavior.

Scheduling was easy and Jonathon responded quickly with available dates. The team was friendly, professional and punctual. The walls and ceiling looks great and the team was very careful to clean up well before leaving. I was very pleased we were able to use Jonathon's contractor rates for paint at Dunn Edwards, it saved us quite a bit. Although there was still a bit of painting left on day two after the contracted 8 hours, a quick call to Jonathon resulted in the team staying a little longer to finish, which was really appreciated.
Description of Work: After a bathroom kitchen/family room renovation we wanted walls and ceiling painted in all areas. Pearl Painting was able to complete all ceiling areas in four main areas of the house during the first call. We engaged the team to come again the following week to paint the walls in the same areas.

I hired this company with a coupon for $199. It was supposed to be (1) man for 8 hours. Instead they sent (2) men for 4 hours. One was a professional, named Ken and the other was the owners brother-in-law (an "out of work cook/chef" that didn't have a clue). I think his name was Mike. They arrived on time. They had spackle, (1) can of texture, (1) roller, (1) paintbrush, (1) drop-cloth, tape, and 2 small step ladders. The drop cloth was placed in the center of the kitchen floor (NOT spread over the entire area), NOTE- the kitchen CEILING was being painted. NOTE- NO additional drop-cloth was used over the tile countertops, appliances, cabinets or part of the floor areas.. NOTE- NO drop-cloth was used in the bedroom over ANY furniture OR the new oriental carpet (caulk and spackle area) Ken worked in the kitchen, The brother-in-law worked the bedroom caulking the sheetrock cracks. The step ladder (5 ft.) was not tall enough for the bedroom (12 foot ceiling), so Ken had to keep stopping his work in the kitchen and stand at the bottom of the ladder, while the brother-in-law stood on the top rung of the ladder (in case he fell off). I offered my 12-24 foot extension ladder with foot platforms, but they "made-due" with what they had. I also had drop cloths. I did not know that Mike didn't have a clue as to what he was doing, until he finished. Of course, he then had to clean the new oriental carpet (there was caulk and spackle EVERYWHERE) Wait- it gets better! He ALSO caulked the CONCRETE walls!. I ask you- who does that? I don't know how I'm going to correct that. At 12 noon I was informed they were leaving. So-I had to pay an additional $249 for them to stay and finish. They continued with the kitchen, switching paintbrush and roller( they only had one of each). I gave them another paintbrush to help them out. I had to continually direct Mike, because he kept standing there watching Ken work. He said he was still learning, so he would watch. Great- I get to pay for Mike's on the job training. I also offered my step ladder with a paint tray. The brother-in-law used this and of course he didn't lock the tray correctly. Yep- you guessed it! The gallon can of paint went to the tile floor!. Remember- NO drop-cloth! It can was about 1/4 full, thank goodness. I told him to let it dry and I would peel it up with a straight razor blade. He insisted on cleaning it up right away with a wet rag. In cleaning it that way- I now have paint in my grout. Anybody know how I can get that out? At about 2:30- 3PM we knew the spackle wasn't going to be dry, so I had Ken hang the new blinds (Ken hung them- Mike watched- he was "learning") and both men lifted a heavy mirror for me to hang on the wall. I didn't know what else to do with them. I felt bad for Ken (the professional). He doesn't have an equal co-worker to do the job right. He continually had to stop what he was doing to help the "brother-in-law". The lack of owner/employee communication is partly at fault. If the men were informed of the type of work they would have to do, then they would have been better prepared for the job. A "hopper" instead of (1) can of texture. USE DROP-CLOTHS (It shortens clean-up time). And (2) "professionals" should have been sent to the job at that price. But sending an "untrained man" to do a professional painters job (and I had to pay for him) is inexcusable. Note to the owner- COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS! Inform your customers of any change of plans. I planned the work day based on (1) professional painter for a day (8 hours). I was in design/construction for 25 years. I know the dry time of spackle and texture. There are also "quick drying" products available for this use. The job could have been easily completed with (1) PROFESSIONAL. Please train your brother-in-law. He is hurting your business. IN A NUTSHELL? I PAID $448 FOR (1) PAINTER AND A COOK!
Description of Work: They were to repair sheetrock wall cracks with caulk, repair spackle/ texture on parts of the kitchen walls, paint the ceiling and finish painting the 1/3 of the kitchen walls (I had already painted 2/3 of it). The job was not completed due to lack of drying time. etc..

First off the coupon is for 8 hours of PAINTING not for hanging drywall and sheet rock. The customer had big holes in her sheet rock as well as wiring that needed to be tended to. My painters are trained in minor drywall repair and texturing not for the major repair work she required. She informed us we would need spackle and tape but did not go into the amount or severity of the damage that needed to be repaired. Mike has been with the company for almost a year and has experience in both painting and prep work, so no you did not get a painter and a cook you received 8 hours from 2 painters, not drywall technicians and electricians which is what you would have needed prior to having the actual PAINTING done.

The painting itself was excellent and the painters were professional and efficient. The problem was the responsiveness leading up to the painting itself. We contacted Pearl Painting to find out how long the job would take and how much paint we would need. They were suppose to come to our house the weekend before the job was scheduled and never showed up. It was only after that I sent an email and left a voice mail message did they respond. The result was that the length of the job and the amount of paint that we needed were never determined prior to the commencement of the job. Accordingly, my issue was with the poor manner in which the front end of the job was handled.

2 painters arrived, no introductions, etc....painters were done within 3 hours. Both worked on same room (bedroom) where one of them could have been doing another area of what I needed done. Package purchased was for one painter for an 8 hour day. Several spots on the carpet where they had tracked in/out paint on their shoes. Reached out to the office to have them explain what happened to my one painter for an 8 hour day; also sent pictures of the paint on the rug/floor. Office explained that 2 painters equals 4 hours apiece equals the 8 hours as purchased. Assured me that painters will return and clean up paint on carpet as well as paint whatever is still needed. I had wanted the bedroom and 2 bathrooms painted and one wall in the laundry room. Painters came back and painted one wall in the laundry room and the walls in the toilet area (separate room) of one bathroom. The other area of the bathroom was already painted (by friends) as I was expecting out of tien guests and needed it finished. The second bath has yet to be painted. They seemed to be in too much of a hurry when here both times. When work completed the second time, they literally backed out of the house and never said goddbye, we are done.......nothing!

I had to wait a couple months for the appointment. About 3 hours into the day, they asked me to get more paint (5 gallon jug, and 2 gallons of paint for the trim), so I assumed that they would get started on the back of the house. They knew I would be stuck with this paint, so I could buy another coupon to use them again. I walked outside and one was talking on the phone, and another one kept going over the same part of the trim numerous times. I feel like they did not use their time wisely. The who situation was not handled professionally. I asked them if they power washed, and they said that I did not ask them. The painting was good, but it was not a good experience.

Since the coupon purchased is for 2 painters for a day we are unable to pressure wash because you would need to wait a day for it to dry, therefor all they would be able to do would be the pressure washing. The painters were able to complete two sides of the home, it is unrealistic to think that two painters would be able to paint an entire exterior in one day. As for the trim, two coats are needed to provide sufficient coverage.

I can't say enough how pleased I am with my experience with Pearl Painting. I was under a time constraint, and they scheduled me almost immediately. Jonathan came by the day before to determine what was needed, and offered to pick up the paint for me. The crew was early, and immediately got to work. There was a good deal of prep work to be done due to the condition of the house. They moved all the furniture, took down the curtains, vacuumed, cleaned, taped - you name it. Everyone was friendly, and professional, and the job they did was top notch. I have French windows throughout the house, and I had asked to have the sills painted. They did all the frames as well! All the edging was perfect and not a drop of paint where it didn't belong. I would recommend Jonathan and his crew to anyone who wanted a fast, professional job done.

They postponed by a day, causing me to jump through major hoops to work-from-home the second day. The deal was for two (2) painters for 8 hours. I received, at best, a single painter's worth of effort in 8 hours, though there were two (2) painters on-site for the day. Due to having to re-schedule to the second day, and my having a Dr.s appointment mid-afternoon on that subsequent day, the painter(s) could only be on-site for about 5 hours. One of the painters stood around watching the other painter, while he could have been working on the next room or the baseboards I was needing painted/touched-up, especially considering that they were a day-late and only had 5 hours instead of the 8 hours to earn their keep. This was not a professional outfit, nor do they have enough painters that will work an entire five (5) hour day!
Description of Work: Painted a bedroom, a hall bathroom and a little bit of baseboard.

Response from Pearl Painting
Unfortunately the painting had to be postponed due to an auto accident. The client was given an opportunity to reschedule to a day of his choice. The painters were more than happy to stay the full 8 hours but due to the client's appointment they were only able to stay for 5 hours.
