Mike's Drywall Service

It was very smooth. The price was reasonable, and they were able to accommodate my last-minute request. Truly, it was less than 24 hours from quote to completion, and my ceiling looks beautiful--like that mess never happened.

I'm going to try and be as honest, from my point of view, as possible here. I broke the cardinal rule. I rushed into a project without securing the details. I had a re-pipe done in our home, and as a result had 9 wall holes opened for that project. All but one of these were no bigger than 12” x 18”, and ALL had the cut out pieces from the walls to put back in the holes they came out of. (My plumbers rock, nice square cuts, all the pieces stacked and ready for the drywall guys to re-use). I hired Mikes drywall based upon the ratings and reviews listed on this site. Here's where it went south. I've done these kinds of repairs in other locations before, so I had an ‘idea’ in my head of how long this should take/how much it should cost. In my head. I spoke with Mike, he moved some things around for me to clear an appointment the next day (super!) and quoted me his advertised rate of $55.00/hr per guy plus materials. I was being sent 2 guys (sweet!), we’ll get this knocked out fast ! (In my head). See, the problem here, is I didn't lock him down to a total project price, I let myself get swooped into an hourly rate, period. The guys show up, (an hour late), and I'm thinking, OK -So with NO drywall to measure and cut, just backing, screwing the precut pieces back into the holes, tape, plaster and texture, 2 guys…. This will go quick. At hour #4, I had a 3rd guy show up and clock in. (Really ?) I later had this explained to me that the 3rd guy was sent, to help me accomplish getting the job done in 1 day ! Wha?? It's 9 holes…. They're planning an entire 8 hour day, or more, with now THREE guys total here? Where did I miss…. Oh no, I only bought hours…. Not total project. I'm waiting for the clown car to appear. Just keep bringing them on at $55/hr each. Ended up on the phone with Steve, a) immediately rude and defensive as ****. I got every shuffle line from “you hired Pro's not your Nextdoor neighbor” to “so you just want me to do it for free??? I'll just pull my guys out right now and eat the project… would that make you happy??” Really? I questioned the speed of the work… and I get a tantrum. Nice. All said and done, I ended up with a total combined 16 1/2 MAN HOURS. At $55 per hour….. plus a small, reasonable materials charge. Needless to say it got seriously expensive. *Not to mention that after all that, they still didn't finish the job. They only got 8 of the 9 holes requested. I will say, The work that was done is beautiful. The guys doing the work are very talented. But it's obvious they work “hourly”, not by the job. Judge for yourself. I neglected the #1 rule, never buy hours. Take the time for a visit and get a total job quote. I had 2 plumbers totally re-pipe this house in less total man hours than these guys took to fill 8 of 9 freaking drywall holes. But I LOVE my plumbers!! UPDATE 8-6-2017 Response to above owner reply Ok Mike, time to be honest. It was 9 holes, I have my own pictures and the plumbing company pictures and invoices to prove that. And even then, you only fixed 8 of them. The hole inside the cabinet where the new water lines enter wasn't touched. Stop being a defensive ******, 8 hole patches in 16 1/2 hours is not efficient by any standards. Now you're just making yourself look worse.

The project went very well. They brought in special scaffolding for the high ceiling, put up copious amounts of masking to cover the remainder of the walls, furniture and floors. The areas were repaired so that you can't even tell where it was done. They did a great job of cleaning up.

Mike's crew arrived on time daily and were very professional hard workers. Couldn't have found better workers. Job was completed and house returned to normal. Well done men!

Mike was very responsive when I called and his crew completed the work on schedule. The work took several days. His crew was extremely knowledgeable and skilled at what they did. Their work was excellent. I highly recommend Mike's Drywall Service and would absolutely hire them again without hesitation!

Mike's crew was the best--seemed to be the best at what they do. Every day they would sweep and vacuum and leave the workplace in great shape. This wasn't necessary as no one was living there yet, but they did it anyway. I was gone from the jobsite for almost three weeks, yet the work continued and Mike was in contact with me almost daily. If there was a question about the job, he always called me to make sure they were doing the right thing. All in all, a great job. I would hire him in a heartbeat.

Mike responded quickly to our initial inquiry for service and came to our home to assess what the job entailed. He described what would be done and promised to email a cost estimate which he did promptly. At our request he provided a Statement of Work which we accepted and we scheduled the dates for the work. All work was done when promised, very professionally and looks great. Mike met all our requests and always responded in a timely manner.

They were efficient and worked with me regarding timing and leaving access for new AC unit in ceiling and then came back to finish up that work including 2 new holes that needed repair.

Great. Mike's team came in with short notice and removed and patched all the vents in 6 of my rooms that no longer function (I believe they were part of some whole house fan system that was removed a long time ago). They assessed the situation and gave me a fair price that I accepted. They began by taping off the areas where they worked and 6 hours later I could not tell where they had done the work (which I guess is the goal of a good drywaller). I'm pleased with his work and the price and would recommend him to others. I found him on Angie's List.

Would not recommend this business rude, condescending on phone, and has not repaired damage employees did.

I was quickly contacted and appointment setup within a few days of messaging them. Work was complete within a week, in 1 day.

These guys did an outstanding job. Once things get a coat of paint on them you will never know it was patched. The work looks great and it was a very fair price. Amazing also was there was not a crumb of anything left by them. Even my 86 yo mother was happy! I am looking forward to Mike giving a bid on exterior stucco repair and painting.
