Brion was very punctual. He first came in and explained exactly what would be involved and what he would be looking for. He went through each room in the house to do a visual inspection first. He also did a quick visual inspection of the outside perimeter of the house and roof. He then brought in his thermal image device and digital camera to take pictures of the results of the scan as he found problem areas. He went through every room in the house scanning walls and ceilings. I didn't have him scan the floor as I am on a cement slab (no basement). He was very informative and answered all questions asked of him. The air leak test involved propping open the front door(s) and bringing in a large red case that held the air pressure door. This involves attaching a frame and nylon door with a fan in the middle of it. The fan is plugged into electrical and a meter device is used to slowly decrease the air pressure in the home. When desired maximum pressure is reached, Brion logged the reading of the rate of air leakage and went around the house checked for locations where air was leaking into the house. We found the utility closet holding my furnace and water heater and the area where my firebox entered the flue in the chimney to be the worst offenders. I received a detailed report by email along with photos of the results of the tests. This helps me decide what improvements need made soonest.
Description of Work: Inspected home for air and thermal deficiencies. Brought all necessary equipment to perform specific tests. Took approximately 2 1/2 to 3 hours for my home which is approximately 1400 sq. ft. Does take credit card for payment. I had to turn my furnance on as high as it would go approx. 1 hour before he arrived. His appointment was at 7 a.m. so there would be a distinct difference between the inside of the home and the attic for the thermal inspection. All windows and doors were closed while the house heated up.
